Yesterday, I wrote about a post about the whitewashing that can happen in BTS fanfics and why we need POC writers in general - and in the BTS fandom. Today, I have a post with more than 60 BTS fanfic authors of color. Shout out to the Possums, my various contacts, and my other moots for their help.Â
Please share and support these writers!Â
Please do not repost and only reblog. This post took over 6 hours to collate.Â
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The beauty of such a large and diverse BTS fandom is that there are so many talented ARMY authors in our fanfic communities. As I mentioned in my post about how whitewashed BTS fanfics can be, I get especially happy when I come across fellow POC writers. Thanks to my own reading and networks of BTS friends and writers, Iâve compiled a list of BTS fanfic writers of color as a jumping off point to explore more POC authors and content creators.
If you are a writer of color and I did not include you (or didnât rec a fic of yours), itâs nothing personal. Sometimes, I donât know if writers identify as POC or I just havenât come across your fics yet. Feel free to comment with your handles and a fic to check out and I will try to add you or update when I get a chance (and if I donât, at least it will be in the comments once the comment itself is approved or moderated).
@submissive-bangtan As a rigger switch who's been swerving for Ten since The 7th Sense, I almost died reading this. Truly, I donât even read these types of lists, but this one--THIS ONE--wow. I got to the end of Tenâs section and really questioned whether I should continue reading because my face was burning. It still is.
But Iâm a Taemin stan to my core, so I took a breath and continued and now I am in ashes. This was so wildly entertaining and I laughed and smiled throughout reading the rest of the members. The spot-on descriptions, musings about their responses, and song puns capture what makes each member special while also giving little breaks between the bullets that truly hit the loins. Only another domme could have ruined me as much as this did. I should have waited until after their tour. đ
Hoseok makes a list. Yoongi plans to survive. Namjoon isnât going anywhere fast. Seokjin takes a shower. There was only one bed.
ââŠAnd we all know what these are for.â Yoongi throws a roll of biodegradable dog waste bags into the pile.
âGreat. Weâre dying, but at least weâre looking out for mother nature,â says Namjoon, shuffling to sit from where heâs slouched on the floor. âNice.âÂ
âThanks for the optimism, man,â deadpans Yoongi. âAppreciate it.âÂ
@underthejinfluence I finally got caught up with this series and I have some thoughts (placing a cut for spoilers):
I appreciate, more than anything in this series, that youâve slowly unpacked the personal, pre-apocalypse lives of the characters chapter by chapter. Itâs hard to feel investment when I think a story has too many characters, but with this I donât feel itâs too much because the pieces that make them interesting are given one at a time.
Hoseok has swung in a lot of directions for me and my current ruling at the end of Chapter 5 is that I donât like him. I think heâs a misogynist ass who is clinging to pre-apocalyptic societal norms because control makes him feel safe. He considers the Reader to be the weakest character, even though Namjoon is injured, and that bothers me. I think the stress of the situation, paired with the possible competition from the other men, is making him more possessive and thereby more expendable in my eyes. The chip on his shoulder is the size of a car right now and I feel like we donât know all the reasons why. Iâm still interested in reading, but not shipping anymore. Heâs capable of redemption later, given that he felt guilt for those dead schoolkids, but I think he needs a wake up call. Maybe the sounds of the Reader fucking someone else will do that for him.
Seokjinâs character has been interesting to read so far. I didnât warm up to him at first and thought he would be a secondary character for comical relief, as I see him portrayed a lot in fics like this where there are multiple members. Instead, he has grown into a romantic lead that is both respectful and defensive of the Readerâs importance in the group. His self control at the end of Chapter 5 speaks volumes about his character and Iâm now shipping him and the Reader for it.
Yoongi is currently my favorite character. Heâs self-centered in a way that I feel is most reflective of how people would act in an apocalyptic event and heâs also a planner. He reminds me a lot of myself and itâs rewarding to read his scenes and agree with the decisions he makes.
As of now, I am really, really, really hoping that Officer Jeon will surface somewhere in the story, even if heâs a zombie. It has nothing to do with him being my bias. Itâs just that the setup for his character is so well done. The series flashbacks have been a joy and the scene of Jungkookâs sleepover has been one of my favorite parts. Itâs wonderful seeing the flashbacks to the past and having them foil the present catastrophe. The anxious what-ifs of the past feel silly when theyâre compared with the present, and I think the Reader forgetting about him briefly despite fawning over his body in the shower is a good indicator of how angst rewired her brain. Sheâs unraveling and I love to see it. Is she going to go feral and lose her shit during that water run? I kinda hope so.
Namjoon. Head of one of the fiercest gangs in Seoul, and your boyfriend. You know he has been working on something big lately. Whatever it is, heâs keeping it very quiet. So quiet, that youâre beginning to doubt whether heâll ever get any time with you.Â
But when his driver, the infamous Kim Taehyung, is tasked with taking you home during a date-gone-wrong, heâs got nothing but time for you. And time is something youâre finding it really hard to resistâŠÂ
Warning: drug use, cheating, oral sex, unprotected sex, cum swallowing.Â
Thank You:Â @just-let-me-be-your-lover for doing such an amazing job on the banner.Â
Although heâd never technically told you what he did, to say you were oblivious about the nature of Namjoonâs job would be an outright lie. Because from the moment youâd met, things had never seemed to add up. The late late nights heâd visit in the absence of any regular schedule dictated by his job, the private dinners he held with âcolleaguesâ and blew you off about whenever you tried to ask, the expensive gifts adorned on you that would cost any normal man in his late 20s a years salary, the security alarms heâd insisted you install in your old apartment before you moved in with him⊠It had all had you suspicious from the moment youâd begun your courtship with him.
It had been a whirlwind romance that had lead you here, tucked neatly against his arm in the back of his chaefeured car, the stark press of his cashmere suit soft against your bare arm and the scent of his heady cologne filling your nostrils. What youâd seen in him, was everything youâd craved in a man. He oozed an aura of wealth and power, spoke with intelligence and worked hard to provide you with every possible want in your life. Youâd easily fallen for his innate need to care for you, head over heels in love before you could even stop it from happening.
Thatâs why it was so easy to overlook his career choice when you found out.
Kim Namjoon. Intellectual, lover and the head of one of the fiercest gangs in Seoul. Your boyfriend - one youâd stick with through thick and thin.
You watch him carefully as he smooths his dark hair, strands already neatly in place with a generous helping of pommade, before casually dropping it down over your shoulder. He allows his fingers to play with the wide, billowing straps of your dress - one youâd spent an hour selecting for your date - caressing lightly against the flesh of your collarbone.
âYou know the restaurant, right?,â Namjoon queries to the man in the front seat, long time confidant and trusted member of his squad. Through the dropped partition separating the space in the car, you catch Taehyungâs eyes in the rear view mirror, trained carefully on the exposed skin Namjoonâs hands are warming. At the sound of his bossâs voice, they snap away - the gray blonde of his fringe dusting against his forehead with the movement. âThe french one with the valet parking over in Gangnam.â Â
âYes, boss.,â Taehyung nods without hesitation, eyes moving steadily forward to watch the road carefully. âI know the one. In this traffic, I imagine it will take about half an hour to get there.â
âHalf an hour?,â Namjoon glances your way, the soft smirk dusting dimples across his cheek causing your heart to beat a little faster. You knew that look as well as you knew Namjoon⊠and it only meant one thing. âIâm sure we can find something to do while we drive, right Gorgeous?â
@iq-biased I skimmed your masterlist and decided to read this purely because Taehyung was a driver for a crime lord. I thought about him driving for about three seconds and that was enough to click the link, and I wanted to share that first. My impression was that I would read this fic and enjoy it, as Iâve enjoyed other stories from you.
And I did, but I wasnât prepared to hate Namjoonâs character *this* much. The love triangle hints and forbidden fruit elements are fun to read and theyâre my favorite, but seeing Namjoonâs character and reading his dialogue reminded me there are some characters out there I love to hate. This man, someone who uses his money to excuse his shitty behavior, reads just like the type of guy who would blame a womanâs misfortune on the outfit sheâs wearing. Sheâs in a nice dress, so she deserves to be pawed in a public setting. In what universe is a blowjob from a beautiful woman second to work?Â
Leigh, I hated him instantly and hoped some misfortune would befall him because in a Mafia AU, anything goes (I counted on you to make this right and you did). The Readerâs repeated efforts to appease and negotiate with both him and her principles were so frustrating to see. I yelled at her and wondered if you were trying to communicate a larger message about self-worth and toxic relationships. I got to the point where I was more interested in getting her out of the car than seeing more glances with Taehyung, a man who was instantly my king compared to Namjoon, a pompous ass.
Your dialogue and plot choices made it so easy to hate Namjoon that I immediately told my moral inclinations to fuck off when it was just Taehyung and the Reader together. I love when infidelity is justifiable and nestled in a gray area where I support making a bad decision. I wanted them to run off and never look back, especially when Taehyung started rubbing the Readerâs ankles. It took almost no effort to solidify his place in my heart, but his willingness to let her decide what happened next was everything. That, and the wonderful rain descriptions in the setting that made me want to commit about fifty sins with the driver like I was in some kind of film noir movie. When the Reader gripped his tie in the backseat, she was doing it to reclaim her rightful place as master of her own universe. It took a while for me to root for her, but I was there by the end. I enjoyed this a lot, and the karma at the end of this was icing on the cake.
A/N: Gone Wild is a subforum on the website Reddit wherein one can post pornographic pictures of themselves anonymously.
Hoseok consumes porn like he does Cheetos: in unhealthily large amounts. Heâs seen, and jacked off to, most things imaginable. But there are those photos that always draw him backâŠ
@johobi This is one of the funniest uses of alliteration Iâve seen in a while. The story is crude but reads like a guilty pleasure and the characters remind me of people I used to know back in college. The dialogue is authentic and humorous, but the best parts to read were Hoseokâs internal thoughts which grow more distressed the harder his dick gets. I enjoyed the laugh with this one and would gladly welcome more obscenity from you.
@ditzymax I want to preface by saying that even though I remember you talking about a royal!AU a while back, I was NOT prepared for this. Did I giggle when I saw âkingâ in front of our kingâs name? Yes, I did. And I laughed again at the authorâs note because anytime you really enjoy the writing process for a story, I know Iâm going to be clinging to my pillow and wheezing because youâll do it again: youâll ruin me before breakfast. Placing a cut for spoilers:
I didnât have any expectations other to read a good story, but I really appreciated seeing a character who is so unsure in his seat of power. It was a nice foil against the characterization of royals I often see in fanfic where they carry themselves as if infallible. Soonyoung was very human and relatable, and I like how he chose to visit the handmaiden late at night, past the time he thought she may be asleep. Thatâs usually when I donât have it together either.
The more I read, the more I wanted to gobble him up. The âWill you put your mouth on it again?â line felt like an early Christmas present for me because I would die to have any man as talented as he is say that to me like it was the one thing they hoped to have, but are too apprehensive to ask for directly. He didnât snap his fingers and tell her to get to work and my god, Max...I just kept slinking further and further into the covers reading this, dreading the impending Seventeen comeback because now I want to believe our king is this way, in need of a good suck so he can make the right decisions. Ah...then, he let himself get edged over and over and I just want to say that you understand my needs as a reader, Max. You get me. I canât even write this review with a straight face.
âą Summary |Â He was the epitome of sin, yet he pulled you in so easily that you just had to come back for more. But what happens next, when reality comes back to you and knocks you off balance?
âą Summary | Everything you have done has always been about surviving life and raising your child on your own. Having someone else caring about you was the last thing you had expected. Especially when that someone is the same man you have watched performing every night on stage and secretly admired. But will he run the moment he finds out about your little secret waiting at home?
@yoonia I want to preface by saying it was a long morning of me wheezing into my phone because itâs been a while since I read a proper striptease. I think the last one I read was prior to Fake Love era and that feels like forever ago. I underestimated how hard my jaw would hurt from all the clenching reading the stripping scenes and my biggest regret was reading Bad For You, both drabbles, and Undressed on an empty stomach. This was a pleasure to read and be victimized by this series, especially since you are a writer who pays close attention to the power of sounds in a smut scene. I felt every hazy moment of lust based on how you described sounds of the other charactersâ voices during the bachelorette party and in club later on during the drabbles. I realize thatâs a really specific thing to note as feedback, but the mentions of the crowdâs reactions during Jungkookâs dancing alone made those drabbles kick like solid oneshots to me. I needed a fan.
On an unrelated note, Iâve always hated Yuni. You made it very easy to hate her and continue hating her that by the time I got to the soap-opera-grade drama at the end, I wanted the Reader to have a nice vacation anywhere but with her family. It was another point where I could relate to her, apart from looking at Jungkookâs ass when he doesnât notice.
I enjoyed reading this a lot. It was fun thinking back to when you only had Bad For You out as a thirsty oneshot. I donât know if you always intended on expanding it, but over the course of reading the expansion I can say I had some pleasant surprises. I even gasped in a few places before diving my face back into my pillow. It was a fun read. Iâm looking forward to Jiminâs spin-off.
I finally got around to reading The Gentleman's Club and it was fantastic. I really want to reblog it/post praise, but the post you have on Iris Fic Recs doesn't link to the author's tumblr anymore (says doesn't exist). Do you know if she deleted her tumblr or changed her username?
Excerpt:
Sitting on a small sofa in the corner of the room, he leafed through the pages, his eyes scanning over the phrases and recollections of their memories together, how she made him feel, and what he wanted to give her in return. The handwritten words looped along every line for several pages. The first thought Namjoon had was that he had too much to say, but he couldnât bear to cross out anything. The words coated his feelings and gave them a voice. They were imprinted on his heart and he wanted her to hear them.
Warnings: oral sex (f receiving), fingering, near-fisting, dry humping, some slight pregnancy kink/impreg kink going on, lots of dirty talk, iâm gonna put a tw here for dysphoric folks bc there are a couple sentences in there that might be triggering, reader haS A HUGE CLIT, i based it on a video lol, very graphic sexual description
A/N: this was the 3rd of 4 drabble winners during my drabble request game! I hope anon and everyone else enjoys it!
@johobi I have chest pains because of this fic. Hoseok is so attractive and attentive here and my brain could only process so much description and dialogue before I lost my shit and started wheezing. My face is melting off because this entire tale is basking in the unrelenting primal urges that make humans feel like animals. Why did I read it at 6 AM?
I listened to this fic while burying my face in my hands because hot damn, that dirty talk would only happen if two people were on the brink of madness. I loved every minute of it. My jaw was on the floor halfway through this story because so many of the sentences are written in short bursts to hasten the act of everyone losing their shit--Hoseok, the Reader, me lmaooo! Damn, it feels deliberate and Iâve been victimized once again by Joâs storytelling. And his cum being described as sticky and gummy glue is just wonderful. I'm cackling and simultaneously in pain.
Standing to the side of the eating area in Chicagoâs largest McDonaldâs, you cautiously eye the group of twenty first graders charged under your wing. Theyâve scattered, as children are wont to do, spread throughout the restaurant floor, some eating, some chattering, and many playing. Looking at your watch, you see thereâs still thirty minutes left to the scheduled lunch time, and let your gaze shift to the bus driver who eats alone, headphones tucked into her ears, enjoying her brief moment of peace.
This is not the first field trip youâve chaperoned, however it is the first youâve managed on your own, an undercurrent of pride making your chest swell. And it is this, perhaps, that exacerbates your anxiety considering there is something terribly, terribly wrong with this journey.
@yeoldontknow I played this story as an audiobook to liven up my morning and let me just say there were moments where I was hunched over my desk mid-wheeze because the DESCRIPTIONS, Kat! Chanyeol is such a rascal in this story and even though part of me was roasting the Reader for being so weak for her man, another part of me was drooling over the way his voice is described. He knew just how to dismantle her defenses and I was sweating and immediately regretted listening at work. The public fuck was nothing short of poetry. While I was expecting a quick romp, I was happily blessed with sprinklings of their relationship and enduring love. Theyâre stable and theyâre nasty. It was a sweet read that felt like a thirsty passion project.
On a side note, my jaw dropped at the use of âluxuriatingâ in this story. Writer to writer, thatâs a hell of a verb and I wrote it down. You have my thanks.
Warnings & Features: profanity; mentions of infidelity; very slight themes of longing and jealousy; very slight possessiveness; graphic sexual content (penetrative sex, cunnilingus and fellatio, light creampie eating); angst without a happy ending
Authorâs Note: I got this idea in my head for a short, angst-y one-shot and just had to carry it out, even though I never planned on writing this particular sort of trope.
@ditzymax I know this came out over a year ago and Iâm very late to this story, but I wanted to share feedback because something Iâve noticed with your stories is you write male POV extremely well. This story is a college AU, which admittedly isnât my cup of tea anymore as a reader, but wow. The emotional vulnerability percolating under Yoongiâs jock exterior was delightful to read. His thoughts teetered back and forth between sarcasm and fragile masculinity and I felt that was, in part, very Yoongi, but also very close to how I imagine college guys would think in his situation if they were being honest with themselves. My favorite part was when he stressed, almost to himself lol, that he doesnât want monogamy, yet he gets instantly jealous as he reflects on everything he loves about the Reader. Heâs a mess! I laughed at the poor guy several times as he pretended to not be invested in her while simultaneously crushing in secret. In an AU that is saturated with cocky machismo and fuckboi characters, it was refreshing to see a man written with this level of emotional vulnerability. I wish I had read it sooner.
Tae knows that if things are ever going to move forward between the two of you, he is going to have to take some initiative. But he promises, heâs not trying to be your boyfriend.
Warnings: 14500 words. Sex stuff - but youâll have to read to find out what kind. Nothing that sensitive folks need to worry too much about. Also, snobby people being snobby.Â
âWhere is Jimin tonight, anyways?â Jin grabbed a fistfull of peanuts from the bowl sitting on the bar. âWasnât it his idea to meet for afterwork drinks?  How come he isnât here?â
Tae shrugged. âHe said he had a date with one of his âfriends-with-benefitsâ that came up unexpectedly.â
âThatâs just so wrong. Since when does Jimin ditch his boys to chase some tail?â  Jin rolled his eyes.
âGo easy on him. Heâs going through a mid-life crisis or something right now. Heâs on some kick about sexual liberation or whatever.  I think he got dumped one too many times and now heâs trying to build a sex harem or something like that.â
âJimin? Mr. Love-At-First-Sight, Park Jimin? Hmmm⊠weâll see how long this lasts, I guess.â  Jin motioned to the bartender to bring him another beer before continuing, âAt least Jimin is trying to do something with his love life, unlike some people I know.â
âIs that supposed to be directed at me? Whatâs wrong with my love life?â
âWhen was the last time you had a girlfriend?â
âSo? I know itâs been a while, but Iâm just holding out for the right girl. Besides, itâs not like I never go out.  Iâve got⊠you know⊠people of interest⊠or whatever.â Tae took a big swig of his beer, unsure of what he was even saying. Â
âAh! Right! That date who sent you home early and alone the other week! Howâs that going?â Jin teased.
Tae didnât appreciate the sarcastic tone. âIf you must know, we had a second date a few days ago. At her place, no less.â
@noona-la-la-la I finally cleared an evening to read this update and like a nerd, I took notes because I wanted you to have as much encouraging feedback as possible: (placed a cut for spoilers)
Every time I read this series it feels like coming back home and even though there are wait times between updates (no complaints from me), I am always able to seamlessly pick up where I left off without it feeling jarring. You have masterfully maintained characterization for both Taehyung and the OC and with each update I get a new peeled onion layer from each of them that is both entertaining as a reader and instructive as a fellow writer.Â
I appreciated seeing Taehyung is a man who gets manicures. Itâs a small detail and it doesnât really mesh with the overall theme of this feedback lol, but I smiled reading the normalization of it like it was no big deal. Itâs up there with the way your story has normalized sexual agency for women, which is easily the reason this story is a top fave of mine. If the OC was a soft and pliant woman, this series would be far less fun.
As always, the dialogue is natural and holds my interest. I recall that when you put the teaser out, you questioned whether there was too much dialogue. I love the storyâs long conversations because in Conditioned, they donât feel like filler. I think thatâs hard to pull off, but when I read I always learn new things about the characters and grow more attached to their futures. Theyâre the kind of characters Iâd enjoy having a drink and catching up with.
As someone who has had multiple encounters with the affluent in previous employment, I was dying at the scenes with the snobby characters. The lack of filter and restraint from them, paired with the judgment of characters based on Taehyungâs appearance and lack of money is right on par with the people Iâve met in real life and instantly hated. I felt just as uncomfortable as he did in the scenes and fully support the OCâs choice of never letting it happen again.Â
But what I really loved reading was how the little threads from those interactions further fueled Taehyungâs relentless self-examination from previous chapters. The questioning of his worth which happens in his own head isnât just him being anxious and thinking heâs out of the OCâs league; now we can see some outside influences confirm those fears. That makes me both sad and wanting to root for him more. Admittedly, it also makes me wonder if that outside pressure is why the OC remains so distant, sheâs self-serving.
The OCâs discussion of participating in porn was unexpected for me and the more I think about it, the more I should have assumed it. I wasnât excepting a surprise like that in the seventh chapter, but I really enjoyed how the scene played out with Taehyung ultimately defending himself. He seems to be getting better with that as the chapters progress and it gives me hope that there will be a positive outcome with their âfriendshipâ that will serve both of them. On a related note, Iâm very intrigued by the sex club idea and Iâm foaming at the mouth for it, but I will continue to support whatever creative direction you take with the story. Every chapter has been a gem to read.
a/n: This is my very first BTS fanfic. I hope you enjoy it! Iâll be releasing it per chapter, and I have a plan for around 20 of them. If you love the Walking Dead (like my bias Seokjin) then this is the fic for you. It handles a lot of the same sorts of themes - death, blood, violence and zombies - so keep this in mind. Thereâs also a slow burn romance (or two, or three, or seven) so stay tuned! Let me know what you think and I really hope you enjoy it!Â
@underthejinfluence I wouldnât consider myself a Walking Dead fan, but I loved, loved, loved this! For the chapters to be under 5k each, yet convey that depth of emotion it has, is no easy feat. I felt lost in the upheaval of each moment because of your descriptions, especially for the parts where the OC is a self-deprecating mess in a constant state of self-examination. I relate to her a LOT. I also love that youâve made her old enough to have already experienced marriage, divorce, and placed her in a stage of repair that really resonates with older female readers like myself. Itâs the worst timing for a zombie apocalypse, but such an engaging read!
There are only two chapters out currently, but I am committed to reading where this leads, no matter how many of my faves you kill, especially after reading the dream sequence in Ch. 2 where the Readerâs past collides with repressed urges amidst the chaos of thinking everyone is going to die. Even writing that sentence is fun. Not only did I enjoy this read a ton, but I wrote down several words that I seldom see in fiction with the hope of improving my own vocabulary. You have my deepest thanks for both feeding me this angst and also inspiring me to find a better thesaurus.
