The shitty gas station on the edge of town had been quiet for the past several hours. Jerry had taken the day off to go see the latest Thor movie at the local movie theater, and Rosa's shift wasn't starting for a few more hours, leaving Jack with just his novels and plenty of time to kill.
He almost doesn't notice the bell on the front door ding, and only looks up when he sees a shadow slip in beside him behind the check-out counter. When he does look up, he smiles as he sees that it's you, his partner. "Hey, off from work early today?" He asks, marking his place and setting the book aside.
"I was given the day off, so I figured I'd spend the day pestering you." You tease him gently, kissing his cheek just to see him blush. "How has your day been? Any monsters or awful customers?"
"Not today, thankfully." Jack sighs, wrapping his arm around your shoulders, subtly pulling you against his side. "I missed you, you know..."
"I missed you too..." You mumble, leaning into him and taking in the quiet night, thankful to have each other.
The rest of the night is spent helping Jack plan for the road trip the two of you had been brainstorming with Jerry and Rosa. The date you four had set aside to leave on was coming up soon, after all. One could only hope it would be less eventful than working in the gas station.

Currently, I sleep with a 15 lb blanket. It no longer feels particularly heavy. If I continue to pile more weighted blankets on top of it, I can get strong as fuck in my sleep. Eventually I’ll look like Goku just from sleeping

i feel like we dont talk enough about how distressing and disturbing memory loss issues are. forgetting what you were talking about halfway through a sentence, putting something down and instantly forgetting where you put it. having to reread one paragraph over and over again because by the time youve moved onto the next sentence you dont remember what the one before it said. always doubting if your memories of things are real, not being able to remember important life events.
its so incredibly scary, it feels like your mind is constantly playing tricks on you and you start to doubt whats real and what isnt.
“i forgot” is treated like a lazy excuse when it’s genuinely such a big issue for so many people.
I love the bones argument because it’s so stupid and I get to tell people my plans.
