Okay. First and foremost is kin. I’m not going to bother with caps and all that so disregard that for a little bit
The fact that you can’t kin because of race.
That’s KIND of understandable, like if a person of that race is like :/// then that’s okay I guess but really?? Does it matter that much I mean- being kin is for fun, comfort, and most people can’t help it. In some cases it’s a religion. Why are we policing people about it? We’re literally SEGREGATING characters and saying the white people go with the white characters and the poc people go with the poc characters it all seems fucked up to me
And then youu can’t kin because of mental illness or cancer or something.
Look. Buddy. I had both cancer AND I have mental illnesses and like. I do not want someone putting a character aside because of that. I do not want a character to be defined by their mental illness(es) OR their cancer/terminal illness etc. If they go around saying “I have memories of cancer treatment i have cancer feel sorry for me” of course I’m going to be upset. Of c. But if it’s because they have a mental illness giving them those memories?? its not like they can help it? like oh, ill just force myself not to remember that
idk im getting off topic
STILLL. I hear people all the time saying “by tumblr rules i think thats not allowed” or like “you cant do that its against tumblr rules” and its like. what the fuck. We talk about how controlled America and society is and how we’re the generation breaking boundaries and breaking free and different than all the other generations but
look at us. We’re almost MORE controlled in a sense. We’re policing each other over things that don’t really matter when we could be working hard for a fundraiser or spending our time having fun and not sending hate for something like kin. Why are we making such a big deal out of it. Seriously.
Also. Why do we need to tell people not to do that. Why are we sending hate to people and not legitimately trying to have a conversation about these things. If it matters that much to you then why don’t you try and talk it out instead? Maybe you both can make some solid points? Aren’t we suppoosed to be the people who are against violence? Fighting against the system that says its okay to shoot people and all that? We can’t yell about gun safety and how bad it is to be violent and discriminate and then turn around and send someone gore and tell them to kill themselves because they said they are/relate to a character, or because they said something that might be considered “problematic”, or for any reason! Literally. Bad things are going to happen and we need to accept that. Yes, having discussions over things like this is good and letting someone know that what they said is offensive is good but just being plain mean about it and not educating them is just as stupid as being offensive in the first place. If you think that this person is going to get all of this hate and turn around and think, “Oh yeah these guys sending me horrible messages are right, maybe i should listen to them: you’re wrong. People learn. people change. Help them. Someone who one day says that bisexuals don’t exist may say that they do the next day if someone explains it to them properly! You, reading this right now, would have probably laughed if someone talked to you about all this gender and sexuality stuff a while ago! Maybe not! Maybe you are some kind of new age jesus who has never sinned! Who knows! I just know that all of us have done something wrong in life, and (hopefully) have moved on. Grown. Gotten better. learned.
Overall I just think that tumblr has gotten way too controlling over everyone. Anything you see on this website you cling onto and believe, thinking that Tumblr’s word is law and if you don’t you get hate.
I think that’s a horrible way to live and we need to grow up. Tumblr should be known for being a cool place to learn more about politics, society, sexuality/gender, etc. Not a website where you’re put in your place and have to follow “the rules.” I feel like Timmy Turner for god’s sake, with an ominous book floating over my head labeled “DA RULES”. Get it together, guys. Seriously.
