thinking about how interesting sasuke’s lack of involvement and disinterest in naruto and hinata’s wedding both in canon as well as in non canon official art/merch was. 

like yes him being away on his travels/not wanting to be around mass of people bc of his past might be a good excuse but narratively its still strange that someone whose bond with naruto was the central point of the story, was the only one close to naruto who WASNT there for supposedly such an important moment of naruto’s life when they could easily have worked their way around to have naruto get married when sasuke came back or have sasuke meeting naruto in private briefly to “congratulate him”, if they really wanted to show how platonic friendly their bond was 

majority of the promotional art/merch for the NH wedding involved almost EVERYOENE close to naruto, except sasuke 

and when they DO involve sasuke, he looks like THIS in the photo

why would they have sasuke sulking in the back like this during such a happy occasion for his totally platonic friend? its not as if sasuke has any problem with having his pictures taken or smiling in pictures since he has many photographs with other people where he isnt being like this

so why have sasuke looking like he’s sulking/not happy at all coincidentally in a picture related to his closest friend getting married hm?

not to mention the stark contrast between the way the rest of naruto’s comrades congratulated him o his wedding and the way sasuke “congratulated” naruto.  there were multiple episodes about people around naruto worrying about what to gift him for his wedding. even people who WERENT that close to naruto like the raikage were out there planning huge wedding gifts for NH

every one of naruto’s comrades, even fucking orochimaru found a way to congratulate naruto on his wedding 

meanwhile naruto’s closest friend sasuke? sent a fucking note with a single “congratulations” written on it which made it look like it was a last minute decision on his part to not look too rude. he didnt even give the note to naruto, but to sakura to deliver it to him as if he didnt want to confront naruto in any way possible

why? why go all this way to make sasuke look so detached and uninterested in such an important moment of naruto’s life? at the end of the day they still are close friends. it almost looks like they want us to think that sasuke isnt all that happy with the fact that naruto is getting married to someone else…..

I’m crying. Fans of this hetslop ship can’t even find any manga moments to support it. NaruHina is the most forced couple ever. Naruto didn’t give a damn about Hinata romantically; in the Pain arc, he would’ve reacted the same way if anyone he cared about had been killed. Hinata was simply the final straw.

Boruto recent chapter opinion

The moment I saw that chapter was not it, when sakura kind of normalizing Sarada to chasing a boy. I was like about to internally screaming to Sakura. What are you teaching to your daughter? Don’t teach your kid to chase over a boy!! Encourage her positive things to practice, finding herself before jump to romance, teach her what kind of healthy relationship and was not. What kind of mother that allowed her daughter to do that?! And I still blame Kishi for make sasusaku canon

Hiii! I'm curious about your take on this. What do you think is the difference between when Sasuke tried to kill Naruto and when he tried to kill Sakura?

Hi!

The motivation behind it. Sasuke tried to kill Sakura because she tried to kill him first, for him it was self-defense, for her it was following Konoha orders of disposing of Sasuke because he's now a "traitor". It doesn't go deeper than that for either of them.

As for Naruto, it gets much more complicated. Sasuke is on a quest to kill Itachi for murdering their clan and Naruto gets in the way of that goal. As it's stated in the manga, he's able to reach Sasuke's heart and change his goal

We also see this when Sasuke jumps to save Naruto from Haku's attack not caring he was going to die, effectively giving up on his goal to avenge his clan for Naruto

So when Itachi comes back, re-traumatizes Sasuke and tells him he lacks hatred, Sasuke starts to feel insecure about Naruto, who he once protected with his life, becoming stronger than him. To Sasuke, this feels like he's being left behind so he takes it as a signal he must break all bonds he has in Konoha that stop him from his goal of killing his brother and become stronger to achieve said goal.

So Sasuke leaves Konoha and breaks very easily his bonds with Sakura and Kakashi, but Naruto is an entirely different matter. Sasuke knows in order to become strong enough to kill Itachi he needs to kill his closest bond to awaken the mangekyo sharingan and that bond is Naruto.

Naruto affects Sasuke so much he even triggers Sasuke's third tomoe when he tells him how he's his closest bond too. This shared loneliness of theirs that connects them, makes it easy for Sasuke to empathize with Naruto and viceversa. They created this deep bond that's much harder to break than Sasuke had anticipated.

But he just can never bring himself to actually kill Naruto because he loves him so much he even defies his brother's orders of killing him. Sasuke swears to himself he will find a way to kill Itachi that doesn't involve killing Naruto, because he can't bear to lose him too.

But after Itachi is finally dead, Sasuke seems more keen on killing Naruto than he used to, why?

Sasuke falls into this deep depression and becomes a very self-destructive individual. After killing Itachi, Sasuke adopts this "I must destroy my remaining bond to be truly alone" mindset and that one remaining bond is Naruto (who sees through Sasuke's act).

Both of them swear to have a final battle to settle things. Naruto's goal is to save Sasuke no matter what, they both could either live or die but he has no intention of killing Sasuke nor live without him. On the other hand, Sasuke wants to either kill Naruto or be killed by Naruto if he's defeated.

Sasuke admits the only person who knows his heart and can reach it is Naruto and it's especially because of that, that he needs to cut him out of his life to achieve his goal of self-destruction of being the most hated person in the shinobi world in whom everyone can lash out their hatred.

But in their final battle Sasuke remains unable to kill Naruto, what's revealed to us the readers is that in order to kill Naruto, first Naruto needs to give up on Sasuke so that Sasuke can feel like he's truly alone for good and there's no one else left for him so he can ultimately deliver the final blow. Sasuke grows frustrated seeing Naruto has no intention of giving up on him.

Naruto's story is gothic romance, it's unhinged, intense, dark and extremely dramatic. Sasuke can't bear to be loved by Naruto because in a way he doesn't feel deserving of love after all the abuse he was put through mostly by Itachi and then Orochimaru and Obito, making him believe he must live in perpetual isolation and solitude. Sasuke is also baffled Naruto doesn't believe the same.

But yeah, that's the difference on Sasuke trying to kill Sakura and trying to kill Naruto.

Naruto age 7: I can see that the hatred in Sasuke's eyes is not directed towards me.

Naruto age 12: Can't you see that Haku loved you? He loved you so much and now he's dead! Don't you feel anything at all?!

Naruto age 15: Sakura, stop that. You honestly think you can deceive me with your fake confession? I hate people who lie to themselves. I can tell what's a real confession and what is not.

IMO, Kushina and Minato are proof Kishimoto CAN write romance (or at least a decent one) so it's just both funny and sad to see he doesn't give either one of the so called most 'important' straight ships these developments

Of course Kishimoto can write a heterosexual relationship; he doesn't even have to be specific about it. He gives you a few moments and you'll immediately know there was a relationship

It happens with Konan and Yahiko, teammates who fight together and kiss on a rainy night; Temari and Shikamaru don't have many moments together, but through their interactions you know their relationship was going to be nearby

Tsunade and Dan, kurenai and Asuma And so we could go on; it's not necessary to have so many moments to let you know that a man and a woman love each other. for Kishimoto, Minato and Kushina was a more advanced demonstration Especially knowing that later naruto, their son, will want to know about the love story they had

He even has more manga about heterosexual love; Kishimoto clearly can, it's just that Naruhina and Sasusaku aren't to his liking, Because he hates Sakura and Hinata, he dislikes them, and it was always fun for him to make them fail to get close to the men they loved while Naruto and Sasuke more got closer

Kishimoto, I think, is already tired of making it clear that Sakura will never be able to understand Sasuke, and that this superficial affection and obsession makes him uncomfortable

Likewise, how can one get tired of portraying Hinata as a coward who only watches from the shadows because that's what she likes, only feeling a superficial admiration for the hero with Naruto, the girls are left behind and are not accepted unless the men are emotionally vulnerable enough to accept their affection so they don't suffer.

Kishimoto can't not approve retsuden because he doesn't hold the full rights of Naruto, Shueisha editorial holds them too partially and they don't need to ask Kishimoto if they can or not release supplementary material like all of the novels.

It's like GRRM case, he's the creator of the saga A Song of Ice and Fire and other books of that universe, but at the same time when a new show of the Game of Thrones franchise comes out HBO doesn't really have to ask for approval of whatever they're depicting there, in fact, GRRM has been very outspoken he left the OG Game of Thrones show after season four (out of eight) due to creative differences with the showrunners and as well as butting heads with the showrunner of House of the Dragon going as far as to claim "this is no longer my story". Those shows still exist regardless because HBO doesn't require GRRM approval to greenlit new seasons.

Same thing here, Kishimoto has minimum involvement in the novels, only drawing the cover of the stories (in retsuden's case it was designed by someone else and then they just had Kishimoto draw that same design) but he doesn't draw or write the stories. However, you will still see his name in those filler novels because again, he's the creator of the universe and characters and he gets royalties out of them (like a glorified fanfiction where you have to pay the og author bc you intend to profit off their characters)

Also important to keep in mind Retsuden contradicts what Kishimoto wrote in his own story Naruto Gaiden: The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring. So ofc he's not involved in those things

I hear some NH fans say that NH was planned from the start and the fact that Hinata is wearing a necklace with the Uzumaki symbol in her early concept art is proof of this.

@badgalsasuke talked about this, there is no proof that sketch is even that old. And even if NH was "planned" how is that a good argument for it when Kishi did nothing to develop it and even intentionally made it look bad? (see my NH posts)

Kishi also said in one interview they considered Sakura at one point, but then thought Sakura is all about Sasuke anyway and that Hinata would be pitiful if she didn't get Naruto lol. He was being condescending as hell towards these girls yet their stans can't see it.

But also, if you're in the Taylor Swift fandom then you know one thing for sure; tayvises (people who ship Taylor and her current fiancee Travis Kelce) are the stupidest bunch of the fandom. now, this girl is doing something very interesting and NEFARIOUS. First, she twists facts, she edited the original collage a SNS shipper made pointing out the similarities between the doujinshi and both the anime and MANGA, deleting the manga panels and only keeping the anime scenes to make it seem like Studio Pierrot added them

So she acts like it was studio pierrot who added unnecessary scenes they took and thus "changed Kishimoto's vision". This tactic she uses of twisting reality and facts to then act offended over that. What's funny about her argument is that Kishimoto had no power over the anime but in her collage she includes Sasuke retsuden he had no power over either LMFAOOOO but that's apparently "his vision"

Anyway, that narusasu doujinshi is very much like Kishimoto's work so he either read it and liked it so much he copied or the narusasu shipper that made it was able to predict the final battle, that's the real gag here

The first thing is just a guide to reading the novels alongside the manga so that they help you understand where the characters are in the story

On the other hand, no, sasuke retsuden is not canon; it's an official novel but not canon

All the novels, in fact, are official, not canon within the naruto universe much less those that contradict the world and story that Kishimoto wrote for his manga

That's why Retsuden is so OC; all the characters, including Sasuke and Sakura, don't follow Kishimoto's world or characters, that's why the work is written by Jun Esaka

Kishimoto only authorizes them to be made + his name must be in each novel because his characters appear in it but that doesn't mean they are canon within the work
