This made me hella happy yesterday:)
My heart is here.
We close our eyes to look for stars in our thoughts and dreams. Darkness isn’t real, in a room you fail to realize your own light.
One week from today, catch @BambuDePistola, @PrometheusBrown, @RockyRivera, @TayoDub, @PowStrug, & @Bwanifacio all LIVE at the Beatrock Music 4th Year Anniversary. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to NAFCON and STP, both community based programs that provide direct aid to families affected by Typhoon Haiyan in The Philippines. Come out to support independent music and a good cause. It all goes down Friday, December 27 at The New Parish in Oakland!
McDonald's, I don't like you all that much because you ride with imperialism, cause obesity, and create hierarchies.
I admit though, I do miss dunking gluten coated nuggets in your sauces and I still fuck with your Reese's McFlurry's when I crave sweet.
Above all, I'm gonna simply thank you for the memories you sparked tonight. Tonight I had no plans, which is something I usually do have but I ended up at one of your restaurants. The first five minutes with my dad and the next few hours with a large cup of coffee that I never buy, my book, and my journal. Yet again, as fucked up as you are I appreciate the warmth brought by the memories of my childhood sitting here.
That excitement after the school bell rang at Pioneer Elementary School and my dad would pick me, my brother, and my cousin up to head over to the McDonalds in Newark. It was like that 5 minute ride over was a big ass adventure especially with that bump in the road light that we anticipated to make us feel like we were flying in the air for a split second. I remember we would have Boys II Men, April Boys, TLC, and Celine Dion blasted on our speakers on the way over. And, as grimy as the Play Place was it was like recess, extended on our own time. After hella nuggets, Big Macs, and apple pies, and smelling like feet it all felt like forever at the time and I miss it.
How did I become 23 years young so fast?
Come through! I'll rap for you...
The water heater is broken so we boil water for 30 mins and mix cold to hot in the tabo. Time consuming yet it shows you how much water you really need to bathe and you don't shiver as much because the steam keeps you warm and the heat holds different to your body. Every pour to the skin is....oooooo yeah!!
The mom is cooking Sopas. Thank goodness I got this a few weeks ago. Phewww
My Art
My art is painful. It forces me to dig hours into my vulnerability and the raw within. My art is a beggar, begging for political consciousness and people to hear untold stories. My art is a fighter for liberation. My art travels beyond oceans and years past. My art is soulful and full of love. My art is emotional for you to remember and know it is real. My art gives me strength and tells me who I am. My art takes away my questions defeating my insecurities and fears. My art is weaponry. My art is unity. My art is sacred. My art is revolutionary.

Two of the youth helped me put my self esteem back together.
Fil-Ams join calls to stop US war on Syria
Obama said the planned US cruise missile bombing of Syria is a humanitarian act in response to the chemical weapons attack which killed hundreds of Syrians, and that it is America’s moral obligation to do so to deter further future chemical weapons attack.
Protesters like Bayan USA’s Bernadette Ellorin believes otherwise.
"Why would this war be called humanitarian?" Ellorin said. "People in the US don’t have jobs, are hungry, hospitals are closing, education is being cut back, the people here in the US is in Crisis this is not the time to launch any type of humanitarian effort that cost the people here so much money."
Larry Holmes of the Workers World Party said, “We have learned that Presidents of this country do not go to war for humanitarian reasons.”
"They lie about their reasons. They make it sound like humanitarian because they have to convince the people. They’re always political, economic and cold blooded and more about Wall Street than about saving anybody from weapons of mass destruction,” he said.
He’s a sound sleeper.
was not expecting the ending. lol
She is a mess!
Erykah vines are my favorite. Bitch dont kill my vibe
Just printed this for my refrigerator. Thanks tumblr, once again you are AWESOME.
where has this been my whole life
i’m glad to know that when the end of the world comes, i can count on honey.
fun fact about eggs: they actually last quite a while in the fridge, about two weeks past their expiration date. of course, if you’re like me and paranoid about food poisoning, the best way to test eggs is to submerge them in a pot of water. the good eggs will sink to the bottom, the bad ones will float to the top
also KEEP BANANAS AWAY FROM OTHER FRUIT. for whatever reason keeping fruits alongside bananas makes them rot faster
ALSO ALSO fresh sliced lunchmeats can be kept in the fridge anywhere between 5 days to a week (5 days max for things like roast beef and ham; 7 days for turkey and everything else). You can also freeze lunchmeat to use later!
not to mention, keeping bananas away also keeps most fruit flies away from the rest of the fruit. They just… love bananas.
I Forgot My Journal
Honestly, I haven't wrote in that thing for two weeks knowing that it's only hurting me more since I'm not releasing all of my thoughts to accept and just let go. I carry a lot and it's the most unhealthy thing to do, but I know that I've made progress. My attitude has shifted to points where I'm like "dayum Nicole who the hell do you think you are?" Hence, making moves without question. I'm also more involved with my self care game. I'm committed to training and have found myself laughing more to points where it's unstoppable and kind of ugly. Yeah, I wouldn't want to stare at myself laugh for days in a mirror. I finally had a diva session this weekend by getting a massage for the first time. It was amaaazing, but again very telling of the tension I hold on my back. It was supposed to be a foot massage, but he took it to the body. I felt like a WWE wrestler was fuckin' putting all of his weight on my shoulders. If you could see my face in the little hole where your face lies on the massage table, you would be crackin' up because my face was trying to hold in the pain so bad. LOL I need to up my self care game though when it comes to food. My work place is dangerous because I can't fight my temptations to eat the baked goods or cheesy derricious pizza that comes in the beginning of the month. Let's just say I abuse "cheat day" because that shit ain't even one day for me:/ Anyways, seems like a little progress but it's really a lot to me! I can't believe I have a month and a half to be 22. It's a trip, so much has happened and there definitely is a lot to look back on. I'm still searching for what else I can do? I guess that's why when it's the weekend or after 5pm on a weekday I try my best to make the best of every minute to an adventure or a time to spend with my loved ones. I just know that when I return to school in the future it's not going to be like this so I'm taking advantage. Right now my biggest struggle is future. I'm actively researching what school I want to go to and the right timing of when I'll be back knowing that I'm going to have to work to afford it. I'm also reassessing my dreams and really thinking about my family. I'm trying to see what can sustain me and also make me happy and it's tough knowing that the reality of a "permanent job" is really slim. I'm also in the works of looking for another place to stay. While these are the thoughts that surround my future, health is my first and top priority both physically and mentally. Learning how to feel lighter, having a solid soul, clearer mind, and body built to endure will be the deciding factor of this all. Undoubtedly, I'm getting there.
