He has been staring at you for a while. Not in a creepy way, more like he’s studying a new star in the sky.
Finally, he says, “May I ask you something personal?”
You blink. “Uh… sure?”
Albedo tilts his head like he’s preparing for an experiment.

You started and couldn't help but stiffle a laugh because honestly? It's not wrong. Your ex wasn’t just a red flag. Albedo blinks. Slowly.

“Why are you impressed?!”

You nearly choke laughing.
Albedo flips the page.
“Please proceed.”

Albedo slowly lowers the notebook.
He looks at you.
Then at the sky.
Then at the ground.
Then back at you.
“…Was he,” he begins gently, “trying to imply that he possesses extraordinary traits?”

"He possesses mentally questionable traits."
Albedo nods slowly, compassionately, like he’s diagnosing a rare illness. “I see.”
You sigh, rubbing your temples. “Yeah. He was a whole mess.”
Albedo taps the page with his quill. “I have concluded my analysis.”
“And… what’s the conclusion?”
Albedo closes the notebook with the ceremonial gravity of a man sealing away an ancient evil.
“Your ex-boyfriend,” he says, “is the most scientifically perplexing organism I have ever heard of.”
You almost burst into laughter.

People say time moves forward.
For him, it repeats.
He goes back to the café the next day because he is used to it.

He orders your drink without thinking, then chuckles at himself.
“Oh dear… old habits, hm?” he murmurs, resting his chin on his hand. The staff smile sympathetically. They think he’s been abandoned. He finds that amusing, in a sad sort of way.
He never told you anything, of course. What was the point of burdening a bird with the weight of someone else’s longing? He’d rather let you fly.
He remembers the way you laughed at his jokes, the way you scolded him, the way you leaned into him without realizing. He remembers wanting, just once to tell you:

If anyone were to ask you what you think about Lilia, you would call him your "chaotic comfort person."
