✧・゚: *✧・゚:* THE ENGLISH MAN then laid on his side to face the woman. by the way she spoke, she must be a seelie. ❝ spice up things, huh ? ❞ he spoke to himself. ❝ sounds like a proposition, might you have some suggestions, love ? ❞
She set her journal down, giving him a playful smile as she did so. He wanted to play games, well, she would play games. “Oh, I have plenty of suggestions, sir,” She said as she sat back in her chair, “None that I believe you would be properly capable of, though. Your kind tend to flop, for lack of a better word, when put to the test.”

isla.
Isla had been walking around the Institute, trying to find somewhere she could relax and not have to worry about keeping up appearances for five bloody minutes. She had a bag of chocolate toffees and a smartphone, she really didn’t need much else. Mundanes did have their uses sometimes, she thought as she looked the phone over. She heard the familiar sound of footsteps and stopped, not wanting to draw attention to herself. Five minutes, was that so much to ask?
She looked around and ducked into the only room she could see, surprised when she heard music upon opening the door. It had been a while since she heard that song, a couple decades if she remembered correctly, and it brought back ore than a few memories she thought she’d forgotten completely. She turned to see one of the Shadowhunter boys, the quiet one. She was silent for a long while, until he had finished his song and it was clear he had no idea she was there. She wondered what would be the best thing to do, debating with herself for a second beore deciding.
“You’re quite good, you know.” She said, voice loud enough to break the silence but not quite loud enough to startle. “I never expect your people to that good at things like this.”
peter wouldn’t admit it but he was startled upon hearing the other’s voice break the silence of the room. he then looked up to see isla, a seelie. peter then stood, hoping she wouldn’t sense him having their queen’s blood running through his veins. “are you gonna use the room? i can leave if you want,” he said without even a thank you. peter knew he was good but it annoyed him for some reason when people acknowledged that. “i honestly would expect a lot of shadowhunters to be good at this. considering how stuck-up a lot of the families are.”
“Oh, no, please.” She said, gesturing to the piano bench in an invitation to sit again. She eyed him slightly, wondering what was different about him. She could feel something off, something that wasn’t like the rest of his kind, but she just couldn’t place it. “You would think people as...posh as your kind would be talented at this, but I’ve found that many Shadowhunters are a bit too...forceful for something so delicate.” She said, running a hand along the edge of the piano lid and gave him a small smile. “You do seem to be the exception, though. Toffee?” She extended one hand, a small treat resting in her palm.
sorem-blaidd:
Sorem was about to reply and tell her that she doesn’t need to be her since there wasn’t any suspicious activity going on but the sound of the bushes rustling near her stopped her. “uh, Isla..” she muttered, gliding down just enough to see the source of the sound, “something’s nearby. Can you like, rush here in Wolf’s Bane? just for back-up, thanks.” Sorem turned the call off and was about to fly up again but a hand suddenly emerged from the bush and she screamed.
It only took Isla a minute to get to Sorem. She’d had a lot of practice moving quickly, and she was glad it seemed to work just as well on this plane as it did in Faerie. She didn’t have much with her, just the usual dagger and a small satchel she kept for emergencies, but it would be enough. She easily pulled Sorem back a bit, pulling the dagger as she did so. “Well, you certainly seem to have the most interesting patrols, I must say.”

“I know you do…but it is still a lot more than I could have asked for. Thank you, Isla,” cooed the warlock gently with a smile before shaking her head, starting the walk back through the main hall of the Institute. “Regarding finding someone else to replace Hughes, mundanes make it challenging. It is a dime in a dozen to find a mundane with the words and charm of a Seelie, the cunning of a warlock, the diligence of a vampire, and the passion of a werewolf that means well for all Downworlders and not just mundanes…”
Isla followed Godiva as she walked, hands folded neatly at her waist. “Well, perhaps one day I’ll call on you for a favor in return.” She said, making a note of it in her mind and giving Godiva a sweet smile. “I am worried about his replacement. Perhaps take the road less traveled, so to speak. Someone you usually wouldn’t consider for the position. For instance, no one considered a common Seelie child would be fantastic at Court, and yet here I am.” She smiled again at the thought.

thexguardian:
Smiling sheepishly to the confirmation from the Seelie there was no data to support her alternative method was better (other than the fact it was simply more fun), the warlock nodded to the mention of Isla having business to attend to in Faerie. Her smile widened to hearing Isla would be at the Institute long-term. “That’s wonderful news,” chimed Godiva warmly, gesturing towards the Institute to escort Isla inside, hands resting behind her back. “For the most part, there seems to be the usual level of demonic activity but the Head is concerned there might be something brewing just under the surface. Teams have been sent out to investigate the city,” she reported.
Isla nodded, remembering the groups of people she had seen leaving the Institute earlier that day. It wasn’t rare to see, of course, but the energy around them had felt different. “Well, I’m certainly glad to not be moving around so much. Though I must admit, I am not a fan of these attacks.” She frowned then, using her mental map to remember where all of the attacks had been. “It’s worrisome. I do trust you and yours to keep the Institute safe, of course, I just don’t know how well were going to fare outside of here.”
ofaddictiions:
zeus’ eyes roll. “oh please. as if i’d be doing something as mundane as having a meltdown.” he says carelessly, in a show of nonchalance he doesn’t feel. but it’s an act he has perfected now. “are you sure you aren’t staring at me because i’m stunningly attractive? i would understand of course. alas, you arent the first woman to have been captivated by my perfect cheekbones and defined jaw. what can i say? people just go mad for these beautiful blue eyes.”
She gave him a withering stare and crossed one leg over the other as she did. “Oh, of course,” She said dryly, “How ever did I miss it? You’re just so captivating, please, take me before I die from the desire.” She pulled out a small notebook and began to write in it, one eyebrow arched as she glanced over at him. “Really, you’d think you’d find a more private place to have a breakdown.”
alexcndrvs:
“At least I’m not the only one who thinks that,” Alexandra voiced as she nodded her head, exhaling deeply. The woman was right, there was something going on with all these attacks, probably a bigger threat that stood in the shadows, waiting to show its true face to the world. “Have we ever asked the right questions?” She smirked. “I think we have some demons to slay until we find some other leads.”
Isla smiled, glad to see that someone in the Institute could appreciate the advice of a Seelie. It was no longer as rare as it used to be, but it was still exceedingly rare for a Shadowhunter to actually listen to one of her kind, or any Downworlder for that matter. “No, actually, I don’t think anyone’s asked the right questions in a very long time, actually.” She said. “Go, by all means. I know how you Shadowhunters love to kill things.”

asio approached the desk where one of his teammates sat by, having decided to entertain himself while waiting for their orders. it was a slow day. the sun was starting to set, setting up a display of beautiful colors in the afternoon sky before it gets taken over by the inky darkness of the night sky and the glitter-like shimmer of the stars. asio stood beside his teammate, arms crossed while scanning the various pieces of paper as if he were interested. “nothing, just interested in what you’re doing,” he said, “what were you doing?”
She looked back to the papers in front of her, studying them once more in a hope to gain some insight into a pattern. “Well, I’m trying to find some sort of pattern to the demon attacks. If we can figure out why they’re attacking when and where they are, we can stop them before it happens.” She looked back at him, small smile back on her face. “And what, pray tell, are you doing out here at such an hour? I thought for sure you’d be wandering the halls or something similar.”
I don’t know if I’m a daredevil exactly. But I do enjoy a good challenge. It’s the only way you grow.
