Scotland should have trilingual road signage if only because it would annoy all of the worst people.

I’ve started learning Scottish Gaelic on Mango Languages and the way it teaches languages is better than most other sites. It’s is usually a subscription service (unless a local library or institution offers free access), but you can learn 5 endangered languages for free! They believe in the importance of saving and preserving languages which could otherwise die out.
The colour coding system is especially helpful for getting to grips with new sentence structures, and you can switch between a literal translation and the understood meaning . There are also helpful grammar notes!

the following languages: - Irish - Welsh - Scottish Gaelic - Norwegian - French - Dutch - regional, minority, indigenous or minoritised languages - Scandinavian or Nordic languages in general or about following topics: - mental health and self care while studying (or adulting) - multilingualism and general language learning My dashboard is once again empty on most days, so I’m looking for more folks to follow!
Scotsblr! Does anyone have any recommendation for modern music with Gàidhlig lyrics? Finding that music/singing is of the best ways to get to grips with a language and while the more traditional stuff is good, I'm trying to find it in some more modern contexts too
@ayeforscotland @deadkings-x I figure you guys might know, or know someone else who might? Thank! :D
People who learn Scottish Gaelic now can use a very good course made up by enthusiasts in the Duolingo platform. Also, many of the learners might know Deusan (Jason) Bond who teaches Scottish Gaelic in YouTube and Facebook platforms. We talked about Scottish Gaelic and its teaching. The Lithuanian version of this interview was printed out in magazine "Kultūros barai".
Scots and Scottish Gaelic are two different languages of completely different origin. I've genuinely seen people refer to Scots as Gaelic and it hurts my head to read. Scottish Gaelic is a Q Celtic language which shares roots with Irish and Manx, Scots is a Germanic language which shares roots with English - in fact many people would call it a dialect of English rather than its own language.
Not me translating Welsh blue, “glas,” as green because in Scottish Gaelic it means green/gray. 🤦🏻
But ‘glas’ can mean green as well, so you’re not necessarily wrong…
Yes, just the machine learning didn’t recognize it as such, unfortunately. A lot of these ones tend to try and regularize Celtic colors which doesn’t always work when we have words like glaswellt lol.
it’s really funny to read ‘glaswellt gwyrdd’ on duolingo because it also has a color in it lmaoo i’m a nuance learner so the regularization will be the death of me lexiconofhope cymraeg celtic languages
Yeah, I’m coming on Duolingo with my mostly forgotten childhood Welsh and it’s correcting me for some things I’m pretty sure I’m right on… just not the way it thinks I should say them… Of course I could be wrong…

Me when someone makes a linguistic map of Europe that doesn’t include the minority, indigenous, and endangered languages:

Verse of the day
Sheumais 1:5
Ach ma tha dìth gliocais air neach sam bith agaibh, iarradh e air Dia e - esan a tha a’ toirt gu fialaidh dhan a h-uile neach gun dìmeas a dhèanamh - agus thèid a thoirt dha.
James 1:5
If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God - who gives generously to all without finding fault - and it will be given to you.
Am bi sibh troimh-a-chèile le “an”, “an t-” agus “a’” ‘sa Ghàidhlig? Na gabhaibh dragh! Seo rud a chuideachas sibh.
Do you ever get confused with “an”, “an t-” + “a’” in Gaelic? Don’t worry! Here’s something which will help.
Scottish Gaelic - the Ten Irregular Verbs
Good news guys, there’s only 10 irregular verbs in Scottish Gaelic. That’s way fewer than in, for example, French. Save the chart, memorize, boom - no conjugation confusion!
