“girl, please! you have to come.” you hear sarah say over the phone to you. “i don’t know, sare. you know i don’t go to things like that anymore.” you say softly. “i know babe. if it makes you feel any better- which im not saying this is why you don’t! but- he won’t be there.” your best friend said, waiting patiently for a reply. you sigh. “okay! but only for a little while.” “yayy!! oh my god, it’s going to be so good.” sarah says. “okayy.. well i should go get my stuff ready then. love you, bye girl.” “loveee you sis. bye.”
-later that day ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☀︎ ⋆⁺₊⋆
you arrive at the house before it starts getting busy. “hi sarah!” you say as you see your best friend making sure there’s enough supply of drink. you knew it was going to get hectic with a lot of people. “hey girl!” before you have the chance to say anything else she said, “let’s get drunk and forget who we are.” with a big grin on her face. you accept the drink from her and let out a soft laugh. “okayy.”
-night time, party loud, people busy ᶻ 𝗓 𐰁 .ᐟ
“oh my god! i’m having so much more fun than i thought i would.” you say to sarah as your dancing, and singing to music. “i knew you would girl. it’s nice to let your hair down once and a while. you can let him take away your life from you.” after the distractions of the people and the night, you let yourself be distracted from it, from him. until now. “yeah..” you say softly, hiding behind a weak smile. she can sense it. “okay fuck it- let’s drink moreee!!!” she said, already very drunkenly, attempting to lighten the mood. “yeahh!” you say back, reciprocating the hype.
the night continues, you no longer can feel your legs, and it’s the lightest you’ve ever felt. blissfulness is all you can feel. until you look behind sarah, dancing in front of you. you see him. it feels like all the oxygen in the world has disappeared, all the people have vanished and hes the only one you can see. the music now drowned out, your world now going to slow motion and you stopped dancing, all once of blissfulness now gone. no smile to be seen on your face. she notices, of course she did.
he saw you. he has seen you. his friends still talking as he falls silent, starting at only you, like you two are the only people in the room. sarah turns around and sees what your looking at. she turns back around to you with a face full of panic. she turns around to him again, he starts walking towards you, shoving people out of the way with his eyes trained on you, his drink now somewhere on the floor. your frozen.
“oh hell no. fuck this.” sarah says as she grabs you and tries to get you out of the room. as she’s trailing you your still staring at him in shock. he’s calling out for you, he won’t stop. as you turn your head around to face sarah, away from rafe, the music bounces back into your head, hearing everyone’s loud voices now. she locks you guys in the bathroom as you are gripping onto your dress, where your heart is, trying to stabilise yourself. “he wasn’t supposed to be here. he wasn’t due back till monday night.” sarah says, “seriously, i had no idea.” “it’s okay sare. i’m- i’m okay.” “i just got a little startled that’s all.” you say, as if your trying to convince yourself. “yeah…yeah okay.” sarah said attempting to agree with you, nodding her head.
“i’m gonna get everyone out now, okay?” she said. “okay.” you replied. she gave you a warm hug. “okay, head to my room?” “yeah, meet me up there once your done.” you say back, nervous about trying to now, avoid rafe. “okay, i love you.” “love you to.” -
