Legends tell of many aquatic beings, often the fuel for sailor superstitions, but this group is one of the rare few to come into contact with humans equally on land and sea. Selkin, as they like to be called, live in the sea as pinnipeds. With four flippers and a thick layer of blubber to protect them, Selkin stay warm on their own in the ocean. In the hotter summer months they swim to warmer waters and onto land, where they shed their pelt and bathe in the sun in human form. Their beauty is ethereal and almost as hypnotizing as a Faerie’s can be, and Selkin often appear in stories where sailors stole their pinniped pelt and forced the Selkin into marriage. In modern times, Selkin have adapted and remain very much in control of their pelt security. Though Selkin are mostly solitary beings, they are smart about their survival. They have to be, as most Selkin are even-tempered and compassionate to a fault. They meet both above and under the sea in places free from interference from other beings, where they share food and location information and anything else that may help the survival of their species. Selkin have even formed groups to help their kind that are stranded with stolen pelts. Selkin, despite being vulnerable on land, are lethal in the water. Though they are generally even-tempered, they are also known to be playful to the point of being cruel. They are exceptional hunters at sea and in modern times have used their entrancing beauty to become more dangerous on land. The Fraux has been a meeting place for Selkin for a couple hundred years, with more and more of them locking their pelts away in a safe place and using the city as their grounds to find a partner and return to the sea together.

one of the original species to walk the earth, giants were regarded with great respect in the long ago past. what is believed as the extinction of species can be dated to giants picking fights with those who cross them. though never truly measured giants can ranges in sized of twenty to nearly forty feet. despite their large sizes, giants similar to humans in many ways. giants retain a connection to the ground throughout their lives, thus most through out the time have chosen to make a life underneath the surface of the ground. modern times do not believe in the existence of giants, considering the race a myth, and those who do believe are sure they went extinct when the astroid hit the earth. both instances, while untrue, have helped the giants secure their hideouts. numbers have dwindled since the giants went underground. their largest city, currently the only habitable one, resides just beneath the surface of the fraux. encouraged by an endless supply of a river that runs through their city, giants are able to drink this proposed holy water and minimize their size to human standards. used for centuries to minimize their footprint and use the space underground, giants are now using their river water to explore the world above.

the tales of humans harnessing magic has been spun in many lengths. truth lies in the tale of twin sisters, dawn and dusk, who lived near two thousand years prior. dusk fell in love with a vampire and sought power in what her love could bring, while dawn found console with the earth, giving her entire being into the knowledge only nature could bring. in their lineage thus began to witch and wiccan lines respectively, despite how different either will claim to be. believed to be the same by many supernatural creatures, witches and wiccans were often slumped together, called by the other names, asking for such things that could only be given by the other. it caused a riff between the magical beings, and though few exist, there are children of both lineages walking the globe, unable to tap into both parental sources of powers. witches are commonly known for their spells and enchantments strengthen from a power that comes within, while wiccans are known for their capability in harnessing the earth’s natural power in order to enchant. both perform magical feats, but refuse to be compared to the other. while most ingredients for potions remain similar, there are key differences in the obtaining magic. it’s believed a witch’s soul is tied to the magic within their wand - so if one was to get damaged it would affect the caster physically and/or mentally. there are eight ingredients to creating a wand (representing the eight phases of the moon). there is possibility to acquire a second wand, but it won’t ever be the same connection as it did with the first.

While every religion ultimately has their idea of what a demon is, the majority believe they are malicious, evil spirits. To an extent, they would be correct. What they are missing is the fact that they can be neutral, good, or harmful. There is no set in stone trait that a demon must have in order to be created. In fact, all it takes is a particularly tricky death before they’d managed to complete whatever business in life that they needed to.

Some folks, while being the kindest souls in the world, can sometimes end up being a demon. They’re the ones that go out of their way to fix whatever problems they can without asking for anything in return. They use their powers for good in order to better humanity.

Others use being a demon to benefit themselves. They’re the ones that help those in need but always keep a tally of who owes them. And if you owe them, you better be prepared to pay off that debt in timely fashion or they’re likely to use their abilities in a not so friendly manner.

♥ Partially immortal. hosts can die, but souls of demons can live for as long as it takes to fulfill their destiny. ♥ Stronger and faster than their human counterparts, but less than their shifter and vampire friends. ♥ Are capable of harnessing magic in order to use their abilities, ie possession, telekinesis, telepathy, karma, etc. ♥ Most abilities are mental based, though some have found a fancy for more physical types, ie tactical. ♥ Their blood is poisonous and can be used as a weapon when used correctly. ✓ required to do everything a human would do in order to maintain their hosts health. ✓ hosts can not live forever, which ultimately means they must find new hosts every couple of decades. ✓ takes a lot of energy to switch hosts, especially when in one for a decent amount of time. usually down for the count for a week or so in order to recuperate (think a terrible flu bug that has you down for the count). ✗ Wiccans and Witches have known for awhile how to contain a demon. It’s for this reason that most of the chaotic demons try to stay out of their way and good demons fly under the radar. ✗ While the demon soul may be able to heal their hosts in a timely fashion, they can not, however, heal a fatal injury and would then need to find a new host. ✗ No one truly knows how a demon escapes their own personal prison, but from what they can tell, when someone finally completes everything they were meant to in their life, they are finally set free.

since the dawn of humans and fae, there has been rivalries and issues between the species. in an effort to get to know the humans, thousands of years ago, fae learned they could infect human infants with fae abilities through plant life and food from the fae realm. these children grew normal until puberty when they began to exhibit signs of their infection. seen as an illness in the human realm, faeries bound together and denied the practiced, ensuring that such news was spread through the realm. human infants were to remain untouched, and uninfected. faedes became very uncommon throughout the times, infected only by rebellious fae looking for trouble. it's been uncovered however, that within the last century, fire fae were on a mission to infect as many infants as possible, ignoring the standing rule in their realm. now that the fae realm has begun to fade, faedes are coming forward in numbers, starting to understand precisely what they are.

originally began from the devotion of early humankind’s fascination with the moon. there lingered a village whose constant devotion earned the love of the moon herself. granted the ultimate gift, the moon transformed the villagers into wolves during her greatest glory, the full moon. in this form, humans were able to partake in great feats of provision that would easily last them the year around. over the time, and myth, the notion of werewolves pinned shifters into a corner. truth is, not all of them are wolves. shifters quickly evolved into all kinds of predator, often primal and large. they capitalized on the fear of the few, and rose to give rise to the idea that werewolves were half human half wolves. after all, you don’t look for whats right in front of you. modern shifters now range in all parts of the globe, some abandoning the shift all together, others harnessing it to control it at any point. no longer ruled just by the strength of the moon, shifters have the ability to jump between human and animal, though overuse of such results in various side effects

thought to have been a genetic error, poltergeists are formed when a person dies. this form of death can be of any sort, and the transformation takes place just as the last cell in the body dies. once deceased, the cells within the body are re-birthed by the so called 'genetic error' igniting them in an electrical current mimicking life. the entire transformation can take from minutes to a handful of hours, and leaves the deceased dazed and confused, as though they are waking in limbo. this limbo effect can be powerful on poltergeists if they do not accept their new forms, often stopping them from moving forward in any regard. most poltergeists learn to shift, between their physical selves, and their ghostly counterparts, strengthening their connection to their true being and striving limbo away. despite the misconception, the poltergeists gene is unable to be located while a person is currently living, and only comes to light once the person has fully died. this gene can affect any and all creatures, even stopping a vampiric turn, or demonic possession. the chances of being born a poltergeists are small, but with population rising in the last century, it's not surprise there's more of them coming to light.

first thing that might come to mind is large birds that burn in a flame, and though that might have been true in the past, phoenixes nowadays hold a different form of rebirth. instead of bursting into flames and from the ashes rises an egg, when a phoenix dies their body conforms back into the body of a three month old, entirely at the mercy of the elements surrounding their previous death. overtime, phoenixes will recover their memories, earning their entirety by the end of brain maturity. instead of turning into massive birds, phoenixes house their wings in pockets of their back that expand near puberty. if not properly expanded, it will cause pain and back issues for the phoenix as they age. it is said that the feather of a phoenix can cure any illness, though this rumor ran rampant in the early times before modern medicine. modern phoenixes tend to hide their wings, some claim that they no longer have wings, evolved through the hunting to no longer cause issues. all of these claims are untrue, as a phoenixes wings are large and powerful helping them reach heights unimaginable to humans in the sky. phoenixes are able to pass on their genetic makeup so long as the other parent is not of creature descent, should they be, the magics counteract each other, and a human child is born.

the fae realm has always been coveted by those in the human realm. imagined as giant leaves tangling from the tops, with roots covering the bottom. in a sense, there is some truth to the thought, but not much beyond. the fae realm consists of a variety of different continents, countries, cities and elements that far exceed those in the human realm. each fae type takes care of their own element, and must often be enthralled to their element to continue to maneuver it. fae are born from two fae parents of the same element. different elements will negate the conception from the start, thus fae began to pool towards each of their elements partaking different areas of their realm with same like elements. existing parallel to ours, the fae realm expanded, protecting and enriching the human realm with their elemental abilities. in such, fae were often confused with deity like creatures throughout time, given offerings that only reached the fae realm if the dedication was true. traveling out of the fae realm is not only unheard of, but was almost seen impossible and illogical to achieve. leaving the fae realm has not been a thought to many faeries, so it is all that most know. however, over time, different lingering fae have managed to slip through the cracks, stepping foot into our world, and channeling their elements first hand instead of through the shade of the fae realm.
