like. i mean. u have elsa, who's been worried for her entire life about hurting those closest to her. she tries her best to restrict her abilities whenever there is even one person around her. the very moment she is around more people and someone pushes her buttons (and removes a glove), she comes this close to hurting someone short-term and ends up hurting everyone long term with the freeze.

the ice palace and fancy bridge and sudden connection with her abilities is, in my opinion, not so much her being able to control them but rather a combination of a) a giant weight being lifted off her chest due to being alone, and b) a significant lack of worry about other people because here, the only person she could hurt is herself. it was a highly euphoric moment -- she's free, everybody's safe, her imaginary happy ending.

and then what happens? literally three people arrive at elsa's ice palace and she shoots her sister in the heart, creates marshmallow who would probably have killed them had their thinking not been quicker, and everything goes to shit. her anxiety comes back. i'm a monster. i'm not under control. conceal. don't feel. don't feel. don't feel. 

when hans and company comes, she's even worse! her ice palace shifts to reflect her mood, yellows and reds of fears, anxiety, and she's so out of alignment with herself that she was literally prepared to kill a person -- maybe two, maybe more -- until hans stepped in.

literally six people arrived at her palace and elsa lost control of herself, her ability.

i could probably go on for literally ages about this but the tldr is that elsa would not just suddenly be willing use her abilities in a large-ish scaled degree by creating an ice rink with literally like a hundred people standing in there. too much risk. too many people to hurt. she's already frozen one heart -- she wouldn't give herself an opportunity to freeze more.

     It's the first time she's seen Kristoff with his new sled (the fifth time she's seen him-- ever), and though she's heard Anna rant and rave about how much he loved it, there's still a difference between hearing it from a secondary or primary source.

     She gestures to it with a nod of her chin. "Do you like it?"
