I realized I never really introduced myself, so... Hi, I'm Di, but you can call me Didi!

I'm a big ass fangirl, and I love it. My fandoms include but are not limited to: BTS, Star Wars, Percy Jackson, Hunger Games, Mortal Instruments (all media types), Young Royals, One Direction and many, many musicals.

Soulmate AU where Shane and Ilya don’t realize they’re soulmates (or they’re lying to themselves and pretending they don’t know they’re soulmates). After Shane leaves following the tuna melt incident, Ilya gets really bad rejection sickness. It gets so bad that Ilya passes out at practice. He wakes up in the hospital and the doctor tells him about his rejection sickness and urges him to work out his issues with his soulmate. Ilya just nods but he’s not going to bother Shane. Shane doesn’t want him and he won’t force it. It’s better this way.

One night Svetlana is caring for Ilya and she’s had enough. She takes Ilya’s phone while he’s sleeping and sends a text to Jane like ‘Hi this is Ilya’s friend, Svetlana. Look, I don’t know what happened between you and him but I’m begging you to take him back. He has really bad rejection sickness. The doctors are saying it’s the worst case they’ve ever seen. He may die. I don’t want my friend to die. Please.’

Hours later, the doorbell rings. Svetlana opens the door to see Shane Hollander standing there. Before Svetlana can ask any questions, Shane just says ‘I’m Jane’ and she quickly pulls him into the house and guides Shane to Ilya’s room. Ilya wakes up feeling better and he thinks maybe he’s starting to get over the rejection sickness when he realizes arms are wrapped around him. He knows it’s not Svetlana because the arms are too bulky. His eyes snap open and he sees Shane staring back at him. Shane apologizes for how he left, how he was just scared and how he wants Ilya if he’ll have him. Ilya raises up to kiss Shane.

“Of course I’ll have you, you idiot.”

At some point, the Irina Foundation goes international, or maybe it's Scott and his scholarship people. Point is, Shane and Ilya and Scott are invited to talk on a event for queer youth in sport. In London.

Idk man I'm just imagining Nick Nelson in the crowd, his mum on one side, Charlie on the other, as Ilya talks about being bisexual in a high contact game and how people jump to invalidate his love for Shane bc yeah he likes girls but he's only ever been in love with his husband. And Scott talks about being terrified of people knowing, but getting to have Kip by his side makes it all worth it. And Shane talks about his struggles with internalized homophobia - how it still gets to him now, over 30 years old - and Nick. Nick is crying at the end of it.

Bc Charlie and his friends are great, but they're not into sports like he is. And these guys. They are at the top of their game. They are hockey. And they are queer. And yeah, he knows it's not mutually exclusive, but knowing and seeing are different things.

Mum is more than happy to take pictures of him and Charlie with the hockey players, and he even gets a personalized chirp from Ilya Rozanov himself - if you want to play exciting game, there's time. Cens are first draft this year - and Nick is on cloud nine the rest of the day.

Shane speaks Japanese but he only really does it when he calls his grandma (she moved back to Japan after Shane's grandpa died). His Japanese isn't the best but is passable, and Ilya absolutely loves to hear him speak it - both because he loves Shane and Shane's family loves him, which means Shane has to translate and contextualize the plethora of compliments Obaachan sends Ilya, and because Shane's voice changes in a way that makes him absolutely feral.

Anyway, one day Shane complains about a repeated offender in the media scrum, a reporter from a gossip blog that keeps barraging him with stupid questions about their personal - mainly sex - life, and Ilya very formally allows him to use his signature move of Pretending Not To Understand The Question. Shane is confused, bc while he likes the idea, the guy most likely knows french too and would repeat the question in his second language. Ilya just sighs and kisses him.

"But would he know Japanese?"

Next time Stupid Reporter asks Shane (after a win against the Admirals!!!!!) if they have any plans for Hunter's visit wink wink nudge nudge, Shane looks at him with the deadest face and says - in perfect Japanese, bc he fucking trained it - sorry, I can't understand you

Ilya is always aware of David's movements. Not in an intentional way, just in an instinctive one. He's the first person to realize that David's hands aren't as steady as they used to be, that it takes him a little longer to catch up, that he has to actively try to keep up with Yuna and Shane.

He's absolutely terrified because he's seen this before, the far-away, glazed-over eyes of a mind slipping like sand through his fingers. He has stood in front of it, trying to get any sliver of recognition, to fight the dying neurons with the best pills money could buy. His father wasn't a good man, but he didn't deserve to have his essence erased like that.

David drops a knife and Ilya is the one that reacts, cutting his hand in the haste to get it, and while David is patching him up, Ilya is watching him. Maybe if this time he does it right, catches it early, maybe it won't be able to take David away from Shane. From Yuna. From him.

No you don't get it SHANE IS A PROVIDER like he will get a few texts from Ilya and it sounds a little off so obviously the next day Ilya gets home and there's food from his favorite restaurant and a ridiculously HUGE bouquet of tulips bc he off-handedly mentioned to Shane that he loves tulips and the card has a stupid chirp and the roughest J as a signature bc God knows Shane Hollander doesn't have nice handwriting

Or or when Ilya moves to Ottawa he gets in the locker room just to find it basically overflowing with his favorite pre-game snacks and the only thing the staff can tell him is that "is from Jane?" And the day after his first game there's bluebells in there and chamomile for his mother's birthday and more tulips for his birthday, and forget-me-nots for their anniversary. To the point that the guys chirp him to hell and back for his Jane always gifting him flowers.

He mentions thinking about getting his ears pierced and like clockwork Shane is buying him the prettiest blue earrings "to match your eyes". He eyes the new collection of Rolex and next thing he knows it's in his closet. He tears up over blood having dried on his mother's necklace and the next day Shane is suddenly a specialist in jewelry cleaning.

Ilya is Shane's baby, and so help him, he will provide.

Funny TLG au where Shane and Ilya aren't public but are married and are out to their friends (plus the centaurs, but not the metros bc the room is bad enough as it is). The public knows both of them are married (both posted vague wedding pictures) but only a few hollanov truthers compared flower arrangements and figured out they're married to each other.

One day, Shane posts a picture of a baby - small, dressed in a plain white onesie with hockey sticks, dark hair, scrunched up on his chest, no face to be seen. "Hello from parenthood bliss!", the caption says. Hockey twitter loses it.

Then, a month later, Ilya posts a photo of a baby, wearing a brown knit sweater and holding a bunny plushie. The photo cuts right under the baby's nose, only a few strands of dark hair can be seen. The caption says "my soul, my heart, my bunny" in Russian. His photo breaks containment - much to his amusement and Shane's annoyance - because people can't seem to grasp that Russia's Greatest Love Machine did indeed settle down.

They keep doing it, posting photos of their kid every now and then, never showing their face or giving them a name other than bunny (Ilya), bun (Shane) or little loon (David did it first, Shane insists on keeping it). The hollanov truthers are split down the middle whether a) that's the same baby or b) there are two babies, but they're twins. The shaydens call all the children fake.

It's the world's worst kept secret, but it takes three years and a woman fully going to court against Ilya - allegedly, for parental alienation - for the guys to come out, 5 years into their marriage with a three-year old and a second baby in the way.

(baby hollanov #2 is born just in time to be placed inside the Stanley cup that year, the second one they win together for the Centaurs).

What if David understood Ilya?

What if David didn't have a great childhood either and understood why Ilya is the way he is instantly

He tells Yuna to hear them out, to let them speak for themselves, to keep comments to herself because what's happening is terrifying

He treats Ilya softer because he wants to be seen as safe, as a man who refuses to hurt his son or Ilya no matter what happens

Ilya doesn't take to David and Yuna as quickly as it seems, it takes time, it takes work

David leads it because he knows, he understands how it is to feel unsafe, to feel unwanted in your own home, to not know if the next moment will lead to pain, to anger

He understands and speaks Ilya's language, a language nobody else knows how to speak but them
