Me and the sea #2
Free service with ads: Well, if I'm not paying for it they have to foot the bill somehow.
Paid service with no ads: Well, if they're not funding it with ad revenue, they need to charge us something.
Paid service with ads: Well that's bullshit.
"We used to be a paid service without ads, but now we're putting ads in it! If you want the ad-free version you have to pay more for preeeeemium": Fuck you fuck you fuck you

Greatest act of balance on this show was making Mulder, the believer, largely agnostic and Scully, the skeptic, an actual Catholic.
Absolutely ridiculous on its face because it seems contradictory, but like… Scully wants to protect people from what she views as earthly sins — people hurting people, lying, cheating, stealing, killing — but it’s anchored in a place that’s spiritual. Mulder wants to protect people from the unbelievable, but it’s anchored in a place that’s very real, his baby sister being taken from him.
It’s the reason Mulder can turn around after everything outrageous he’s ever said and tell Scully to remain skeptical; it’s the reason Scully can scoff and whinge at all those outrageous things and then turn around and try to protect Mulder’s curiosity and belief and hope.
It would actually be more outrageous if the believer in all of the things the world tries to convince you AREN’T true also believed in the one thing everyone wants you to believe IS. The same way it’d be more outrageous if the skeptic believed in nothing, because a skeptic has the strongest faith of all. To be told that something is true again and again and still choose to turn away — to seek meaning elsewhere is the biggest act of faith there could possibly be. And faith in the principles espoused by a religion isn’t necessarily the same thing as faith in God itself.
It’s why, amidst all of that, the one thing Scully and Mulder will always agree on is believing in each other. Which is why they have to have that one little incongruence in character in the first place. It is, so it has to be.
It is also why I’m going to walk backwards into the sea and scream until I run out of oxygen.
"The sculpture in the image is “Das Schicksal” (Fate), created in 1905 by Hugo Lederer. The sculpture portrays fate as a ruthless woman dragging two vulnerable bodies by their hair.
The work is currently located in Ohlsdorf Cemetery in Hamburg, Germany."

Always remember that the EU did a study in 2013 about the effects of piracy on media publishers and found that there is no correlation between piracy and sales! (And then they tried to hide that study bc that's not the result they wanted)
So piracy is at worst not even a problem, and at best it's free advertisement.
Source: (the link to the actual study is in the article)
In 2013, the European Commission ordered a €360,000 ($430,000) study on how piracy affects sales of music, books, movies and games in the EU
Plus this one:
A new report out of the UK once again deflates the common narrative that pirates are exclusively looking to obtain free stuff.
John Rogers was once asked, in a Q&A session, how he felt about people illegally downloading his show. His response:
"I would PREFER you buy the show legally. However, I am one of those capitalists who doesn't blame the market for my failings. The market is the market. The market does not give a shit what's fair. Torrenting is to a great degree a mismatch of delivery systems to audience. When we get better at digital delivery, piracy will decrease. It'll never go away, but being angry at piracy is like being angry at the weather -- in a digital economy, you're gonna have to live with some rain, and if you've built your house correctly it won't wash you away."
