For everyoneâs information:
The plan for the 17th, when the adult content ban comes in, is to protest.
To do that, we are making as much noise either side of the 17th as possible, and using the site as normal.
On the 17th, dead silence.
People are saying log off but what they really mean is donât open the site or the app.
But, on the 17th make as much noise as possible on every other platform. Tweet about it and post on facebook and instagram and everywhere else.
What this does is causes a massive dip in ad revenue for one single day. That does not make staff think âoh everyoneâs gone letâs shut down.â What it actually makes them think is âoh shit people arenât happy and if people donât keep using our site weâre out of money and out of jobs.â
A boycott reminds a company that the users (consumers) have the power to make their site (business) worthless with one single coordinated decision.
If you want to join in, hereâs what to do:
Do:
Close all open instances of the app and site on all your devices before the 17th
Make posts before and after the 17th on tumblr and other platforms, talking about why this ban is bad
Make posts on other sites during the 17th. Flood the official tumblr staff twitter and facebook with your anger and your opinion
Come back on the 18th and check in
Donât:
Delete the app from your phone (this doesnât affect their revenue and since itâs off the store at the moment itâll be hard to get back)
Delete your account. I mean you can if you want to, but if you keep your account and donât use it youâre saying to staff that thereâs still time to save it. If you delete itâs hard work to come back.
Open the app or website (including specific blogs)
Make any posts (turn down/off your queue and make sure nothing is scheduled)
Go quiet elsewhere. Make it clear that this is just about tumblr, not a mass move away from all social media.
Remember: the execs donât care about anything but money. Shutting down the site means thereâs $0 further income from it. Thatâs their last possible course of action. If we make it clear weâre not happy, theyâll have to do something or we can do more and more until it becomes too expensive.
Protests take commitment. Theyâre a defiant action against a business that is doing something wrong. They will try to scare you into not participating, because theyâre scared. We hold all the power here, sometimes the execs just need to be reminded of that.
Reblog and spread the word
REEEEE BLOG
All, weâve heard from a bunch of you who are concerned about Tumblr censoring NSFW/adult content. While there seems to be a lot of misinformation flying around, most of the confusion seems to stem from our complicated flagging/filtering features. Let me clear up (and fix) a few things:
1. Last year, we added âSafe Modeâ which lets you filter out NSFW content from tag and search pages. This is enabled by default for new users and can be toggled in your Dashboard Settings. As some of you have pointed out, disabling Safe Mode still wasnât allowing search results from all blogs to appear. This has been fixed.
2. Some search terms are blocked (returning no results) in some of our mobile apps. Unfortunately, different app environments have different requirements that we do our best to adhere to. The reason you see innocent tags like #gay being blocked on certain platforms is that they are still frequently returning adult content which our entire app was close to being banned for. The solution is more intelligent filtering which our team is working diligently on. Weâll get there soon. In the meantime, you can browse #lgbtq â which is moderated by our community editors â in all of Tumblrâs mobile apps. You can also see unfiltered search results on tumblr.com using your mobile web browser.
3. Earlier this year, in an effort to discourage some not-so-nice people from using Tumblr as free hosting for spammy commercial porn sites, we started delisting this tiny subset of blogs from search engines like Google. This was never intended to be an opt-in flag, but for some reason could be enabled after checking off NSFW â Adult in your blog settings. This was confusing and unnecessary, so weâve dropped the extra option. If your blog contains anything too sexy for the average workplace, simply check âFlag this blog as NSFWâ so people in Safe Mode can avoid it. Your blog will still be promoted in third-party search engines.
Aside from these fixes, there havenât been any recent changes to Tumblrâs treatment of NSFW content, and our view on the topic hasnât changed. Empowering your creative expression is the most important thing in the world to us. Making sure people arenât surprised by content they find offensive is also incredibly important and we are always working to put more control in your hands.
Sorry for all of the confusion. If you have any more concerns or suggestions on how we can make these features clearer or more useful, please email us!
THE YEAR IS 2013
This was Tumblr Staffâs response to a Change.org 20,000 signature petition in 2013 to stop exactly whatâs going on right now. Tumblr Staff, with David Karp at the head, clarified these things and put these guidelines into place to ensure that the site would remain safe and they would continue to allow NSFW content.
Cut to 5 years later we have literally 10 times as many people signing a petition right now in less than ÂŒth the amount of time for the exact same reason
Tumblr, we made this clear before and now 10 times as many people are making it clear again: Youâre handling this in the wrong way.
You should be focusing on improving features like Safe Mode, the tagging system, blacklisting, whitelisting, filtering, blocking, reporting, etc.
Rather than deciding that destroying the foundation youâve built and garnered for 11 years as a place where NSFW artists can easily get their work out there.
And would you look at that, this post itself has like a million notes.
There are several other petitions of this nature but this one has the most signatures by far.
China is putting Uyghur Muslims into Concentration Camps
This is one of the greatest attrocities and oppression taking place in the world today yet still it is one of the least talked about issues. Itâs estimated possibly over 2 million Uyghur Muslims have been put into these concentration camps which China calls âre-edcuation campsâ and the goals is to wipe out and clean them from their cultural and religious identity. They have built dozens of these camps with fortified walls and barbed wire fences which they hide from the world media.
China sees Islam as an âideological diseaseâ. Many of the people put in these camps donât make it out alive due to to the harsh living conditions inside. Many leave behind children who are then sent to government run orphanages and are brainwashed from a young age removing their cultural and religious identity.
Uyghur Muslims can be arrested and put in these camps for the smallest of reasons and every step they take is monitored by the authorities. Facial recognition cameras and high tech equipment has been deployed in East Turkestan turning it into a complete surveillance state. This isnât fantasy or âfake newsâ. This is happening now in East Turkestan. Donât let history repeat itself. Share and let the world know the truth.

The internet could change next week, and not in a good way
You may have heard about the efforts in Europe to reform copyright law. The debate has been ongoing in the European Parliament for months. If approved next week, these new regulations would require us to automatically filter and block content that you upload without meaningful consideration of your right to free expression.Â
We respect the copyrights and trademarks of others, and we take all reports seriously to ensure that your creative expression is protected. We make this clear in our Community Guidelines. Thereâs already a legal framework that works and is fair: Today we take down posts and media that contain allegedly infringing content when we receive a valid DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) takedown request. We also provide clear-cut ways for people to fight back if they believe their removed content was not a true violation. These instances are monitored and reported and live in our biannual transparency report.Â
The suggestion to use automated filters for issues of copyright is short-sighted at best and harmful at worst. Automated filters are unable to determine whether a use should be considered âfair useâ under the law and are unable to determine whether a use is authorized by a license agreement. They are unable to distinguish legitimate parody, satire, or even your own personal pictures that could be matched with similar photographs that have been protected by someone else. We donât believe that technology should replace human judgment. Tumblr is and always has been a place for creative expression, and these new regulations would only make it harder for you to express yourself with the freedom and clarity you do so now.Â
If you access Tumblr from Europe and want to act, you can find more information on saveyourinternet.eu.Â
Please reblog this as much as you reblogged the posts about Net Neutrality.Â
If Article 13 is approved, European People might be basically banned from uploading any fan content.Â
You wonât get new fanfics from people in Europe.
You wonât get new gifs from people in Europe.
You wonât get new fanart from people in Europe.
Because theyâll be automatically filtered and blocked!
We might leave Tumblr and other fandom pages.
And if weâre getting all our content blocked?Â
You might lose some of your favourite followers/mutuals.
You might not get to read the rest of that fic youâre dying to read - simply because the writer lives in the wrong country.
So do whatever you can to help us stop this.
Reblog this.

Statement about NSFW Tag for Deltarune
Hi everyone! Since the community was split on this vote for pretty much the whole time, I contacted Toby Fox via email to get his opinion.
I just received an email from him (oh my god???) with a statement about the NSFW tag for Deltarune:
Click here for full image size
(Full email chain under the cut)
In other words, he does not want us to use âdeltaruinâ for the tags!!! As per his words, I am going to suggest #deltaruined for the NSFW tag (he could have said âgo with deltarutâ as I made a very direct question to him, but he chose to write this instead).
So, while the community did decide to do âdeltaruinâ (by a VERY small margin over âdeltarutâ) as of the time of this writing, I think we ought to listen to Tobyâs suggestion here.
Please use #deltaruined for the NSFW tag.

Time Lapse of the Land Taken From Native Americans
via reddit
I will reblog this EVERY GODDAMN TIME so people can understand how the US government taking more and more land from Natives is nothing new (even the land originally promised after being kicked off their original, sacred lands) and they NEED to be fucking stopped. They need to be held accountable for the destruction of our people not just then but also now.

My Service Dog got attacked. (Lend a hand?)
This is Gia. She is the sweetest, most loving service dog. She was basically retired, but still does her job occasionally. She got mauled by another dog about a week ago, and the image on the right is her now. For More Images/Proof: Go Here *GRAPHIC*
Now, Iâm not asking for anyone to cover her vet fees, or to help us put the other dog down. What we REALLY need, is some Pajamas for Gia. I have created a wishlist of Jammies for her. Now, youâre probably asking why she needs Jammies. She is a double coated dog, a chow chow. Without her coat, she canât keep herself warm or regulate her temperature. And we live in Ohio, where it gets very cold. Our power has already gone out once this winter, Gia wonât be okay if she gets too cold. She canât go outside, she canât sleep, she canât heal. These pajamas also help to keep the bandage on her neck stable, and keeps her from rubbing it off. She is bleeding, oozing over herself constantly, so we need a lot of pajamas to keep rotating them. They wonât just get used once, theyâll be used all winter and through the spring even! Until she is healed, they will be used and very appreciated.Â
If you canât help us by buying her some pajamas, can you please reblog this? We got hit with $3000 of vet bills that we do not have the money for. And she is due for another surgery to remove the rest of the dead skin next week.Â
Here are My Commissions if you canât buy her one, but want to help! And Here is My Ko-Fi If youâd rather that.Â
And HERE IS HER WISHLIST.Â
Thank you SO much for sharing and helping out! †â€
Here is my post about Gia. If you want, you can take a look at her images in a google docs file that show how bad she was hurt.Â
Please reblog and share this. Thank You!  †††â€
LETS PLAY A GAME. Itâs called: Who directed it TIM BURTON or HENRY SELICK
Weâll start with the 2009 Laika film Coraline based on the novel by Neil Gaiman. Do you know who directed it? Burton or Selick?
Did you guess yet?
If you guessed Henry Selick, you would be correct. Tim Burton actually had absolutely nothing to do with Coraline at all in anyway ever. Reminder: Tim Burton has NOTHING to do with Coraline. At all. But that was an easy one. Letâs go to the Walt Disney Pictures adaptation of Roald Dahlâs novel, James and the Giant Peach next.
Think you got it? Are you sure? Better double checkâŠ
Oh, look. Itâs Henry Selick again! Tim Burton actually interacted with this project, though only as a producer. Bet that was tricky⊠Next one! Letâs go to the Disney/Touchstone Pictures film Tim Burtonâs The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Have you guessed it correctly? Have you really?
Yep thatâs right. Even Tim Burtonâs The Nightmare Before Christmas was directed by Henry Selick. Though Burton wrote the poem and created the characters in which Nightmare was based he didnât have much interaction with the project beyond that. At the time he had already signed off to direct the film Batman Returns and did not want to be involved with the âpainstakingly slow process of stop-motion animation.â
Looks like it was a trick quiz. But now you know Henry Selick, whom people rarely know of is responsible for many of the most well known stop-motion animated films. The more you know!
This isnât even being qeued. This is just being reblogged, because some of you still donât understand who directed Coraline.
You guys donât understand, Henry Selick was so happy and so incredibly nice and grateful that there was a festival solely dedicated to the art of Stop Motion and that he was an invited guest. He was treated like a superstar in his craft, and he was absolutely surprised.
All stop motion animators were actually. So please please please, appreciate this guy and his hard work in his key role at keeping stopmotion animation alive and well today.
