When a girl is on your lap facing you with your arms around her itâs the hottest thing ever. You donât know whether or not you wanna kiss her endlessly or fuck her or both.
how to fall out of love
i. Burn vanilla candles and ignore the scent of her perfume on your sheets.
ii. Listen I know she splits open your ribcage when she laughs and leaves you hollow. I know every part of you feels halved and chasms gape between the chambers in your heart and if you could just trace the crescent-moon curve of her lips youâd be whole again, but fill what is empty with chocolate covered strawberries and moonlight and scented candles. I know itâs not the same as her. I know.
iii. You make a thousand metaphors about her with things that can never really compare with her but search them out anyway. If she is every single star then buy a telescope and watch the universe burn miles away. If she is dark and heaves with all the heart of the sea go taste ocean water and feel the salt on your tongue. I know it seems like the world took all of the most beautiful parts of itself to make her, veins like rivers and laugh like birdsong and passion like the white desert sun but you can find these things, you can swim in deep rivers and sit and watch birds and feel sunlight on your skin. They wonât hold you like she could but they are beautiful.
iv. She makes you feel like shattered porcelain, doesnât she? Like breaking over and over again, a thousand times and a thousand pieces. And you tell yourself that for her you could break endlessly, like waves that break themselves against the shore with yearning. For her, you tell yourself, anything. But pick up the pieces, maybe; you deserve to be whole.
v. You love her. You love her you love her you love her and you feel it in every cell, like the air evaporated from your bloodstream and she sends floodlight down your spinal column. You love her and you canât. You love her and itâs hard to unlove her but learn to fall in love with the world.
âI dream about your honey-dripping lips between my legsâ
â thoughts #08 | r.m
SHE IS
honey jars full of sunlight, vines that wrap the walls. summer days, half-naked, plastered to hardwood floors.
willow trees and giant oaks. strawberries and peaches. freckles and whiskey eyes, kissed by noon sun.
iced tea with lemon, novels in the garden. sun-bright smiles, as wind disturbed pages.
bright golden hours, sunrise through the window. a china cup of tea, held by sun-soft hands.
home.
I think
maybe I am sinning
with my tongue between her
thighs like this
hands on hips
quoting scripture into the afternoon
praying for God to come
to come
but she is an angel
and my hair is tied back for her
some kind of heaven on my lips
on my fingertips
bathed in her
praying for God to come.

âI donât need prayers to worship you; just my head between your legs and your hands tugging at my hair.â

âWhen a girl loves a girl the touches are softer, fingers like feathers, tracing underneath the breastbone in the midst of twilight. When a girl loves a girl the tears are harder, they fall like glass, clear like her eyes laced with honesty and love that smells like lavender When a girl loves a girl the other girls tongues are sharper, abomination falls from their lips, lips that have touched their friends in the dark, rich with intoxication When a girl loves a girl the boys shrink into themselves, a hurricane is cast around their heads, a rushing desire to have what they canât, wanting to claim what is not theirs, demanding that itâs being ripped from their calloused hands. When a girl loves a girl the world whispers, some louder than others the indoctrinated have matches for fingers, lighting fires for our eternal souls to rot in the preachers of peace shrug their shoulders, sometimes they chant for us, itâs never loud enough. the planets sing for us as we dance among the stars, When a girl loves a girl, she owns the universe.â

Her
I have seen her straight out of bed.
Bed hair, bed eyes and bed smile.
Lying on her favourite pillow, with her favourite cover
Drawn up her body like the most fragile ferocious shield
Waking up after a night that seems to go on forever;
Relentless, tiresome ticking away of seconds that gushed in with anxiety and misery.
I have seen her calling it a night when the sun is about to shine and waking up feeling perplexed with no recollection of how she survived the darkness.
I have seen her straight out of bed and she has looked like the most exotic and lonely thing to walk Earth.
And I do not remember loving anyone else so fiercely.
âher colors are muted and she looks tired. âholding up,â she says, and iâm just holding up too but god, this contrast; light and dark, soft and bold, melancholy and anger, beauty and the furthest thing from it. she is unsettling, yet⌠not in a bad way. not at all. and she is lovely. her eyes are gentle, blue like twilight (and i understand for the first time why theyâre supposed to be the windows to the soul). her hair is not spun gold and she doesnât shine like the sun; she is the moon in all its glory. the kind of light she carries cannot be explainedâ itâs in her bones and the way she walks, and the way she speaks. soft, like she doesnât want to be seen or heard. but she is beautiful. god built the universe with a voice like that.â
â when a girl loves a girl the stars fall to the earth.
