My sanity rests on her lips
Her lips speak a thousand words Of turmoil that knows no rest Tales of wonder and heroic battles Stories of magical realms
The way they part and gasp for breaths And stay clenched between teeth The way they root though my skin and bones Over neck and between sheets
The salt and sugar that line that curve And sometimes run dry The parched essence of her exotic being Where the whips of her dagger tongue lie
The shades they pain themselves in Red and mauve and maroon glow All in a rainbow’s code of love All in a story untold
The syllables that hang from the edge of them They run like watercolour drip The way they covet for the eternal chaos They way my sanity rests on her lips.
