London Bridge & Borough Market (update 16/16)
There were three separate attacks in Central London on Saturday evening; at 03:00am (Sunday), the situation is still ongoing:
Pedestrians have been driven into by a white hire van doing ‘at least 50mph’; there are reports of men brandishing knives and brutally attacking pedestrians. Police have confirmed more than one fatality.
Counter terrorism officers are present.
Controlled explosions are taking place. (01:35 - 02:02)
Explosions are confirmed as ‘police monitored’. (02:24)
The Sun Newspaper cites witnesses, reporting two attackers have been gunned down, possibly killed.
The Sun reports ‘7 killed’ in tomorrow’s front page.
Reports of stabbings. Armed police attended and shots were fired.
Witness reports and footage now being circulated shows an attacker wearing several canisters.
Vauxhall was declared a stabbing and unrelated to the attacks on London Bridge and in Borough Market. (As unfortunate as this is, stabbings are all too common in London nowadays.)
The #LondonBridge hashtag on twitter is filled with people and businesses offering shelter and support, but also people tweeting hate, and about false missing persons.
Please be careful about what you RT, and even more so about where you go this evening.
Bear in mind that these acts are those of a small group of individuals, and not the acts or wishes of the vast majority of people.
Tell your loved ones that you are safe. Call them, text them, tweet them, post on tumblr. Facebook has activated its safety check feature.

@MPSonthewater are working with the RNLI on the Thames. Witness reports claim that people may have jumped in. A closure of the Thames has now been lifted. (I could find no confirmed reports of anyone having jumped in.)
The London Ambulance Service has released a statement and are asking that people use 999 wisely as they respond to the incidents.
Armed police are guarding the Andaz Hotel in Liverpool Street where the walking wounded have been taken for initial treatment, the BBC’s Sally Graham reports. (02:05)
At least 20 people have been taken to six hospitals across London.
Guy’s (London Bridge) & St. Thomas’ (Waterloo) hospitals, as well as Evelina Children’s hospital are currently locked down to ensure patient, relative and staff safety.
Guy’s Hospital does not have an A&E department. St. Thomas’ is your local A&E, but contact 999/112 in an emergency. NHS 111 is available for non-urgent medical issues and they can refer you to more urgent services if clinically necessary. Do not attend A&E for non-urgent matters, you will just clog up the system.
The NHS Blood Donation Service also tweeted to say urgent donations were not required.
London BTP: London Bridge station will remain closed overnight.

Trains unable to call at London Bridge, Waterloo East, London Charing Cross and London Cannon Street, with ‘major disruption’ until at least 07:00.

A foreign correspondent for MSNBC has tweeted: Police now asking us to move away from Monument Station once again. (This incident has not been mentioned by the MPS)

Prime Minister Theresa May said: “Following updates from police and security officials, I can confirm that the terrible incident in London is being treated as a potential act of terrorism.
"This is a fast moving investigation. I want to express my huge gratitude to the police and emergency services who are on the scene. Our thoughts are with those who are caught up in these dreadful events.”
As a reminder, the Government raised the national threat level from Severe to Critical as a result of the Manchester bombing, indicating that “further attacks are imminent”.
