The ‘living in fear’ narrative really gets under my skin. I have no trouble admitting i’m afraid of this virus. Not for me because I have no reason to think it would hit me that bad if I got it. But for people I love who are at a high risk of dying alone on a ventilator? Yeah, i’m fucking scared for those people because nobody should die that way. I recognize that my actions can impact others which makes me anxious about my own actions. If I were asymptomatic I don’t want to risk spreading this to someone next to me a the grocery store and then they drop groceries off to their grandmother and she ends up dying alone because of it. Or she goes to work the next day at an elderly care home and it spreads to someone there. We’re all sooo interconnected. It’s not about you. If you’re not afraid of what this virus can do to other people then I think that says wayyyyy more about you than it does about those of us who you see as ‘living in fear’.
