Can we have more feral, angry Ryland Grace please???
So many fics, especially where he’s shipped with someone tough or powerful or mean, make Grace out to be this sunshine boy capable of no wrong. Fuck that! Man’s bettered himself, sure, but he’s got anger issues! He breaks things! When spooked, he goes on defensive FIRST, runs second. He was ready to fight an alien with a wrench!
Ryland Grace has been alone most his life. He values his own life, and that can make him cowardly. But the second he has someone he cares about? Man is ready to GO!
Canon: Have a Grace that is willing to throw down with another eridian before realizing it’s a bad idea. Have him verbally eviscerate some jerk politician or fellow scientist, human or eridian. Have him ready to leap to Rocky and Adrian’s defenses without a second thought. Have him be Stratt’s secret attack dog that can tear someone to metaphorical pieces with a barrage of insults.
Canon (or not) still a teacher: This man would fistfight someone if he thought they were abusing any of his kids. He has access to chemistry equipment and he WILL use that in the case of an attack. He has definitely chewed out parents during parent-teacher conferences, especially in his early years.
Bloodymary: Have him kick or tackle Simon if he tries to get violent right off the bat. Simon freezes when he’s spooked, but have Grace already on the move either to attack or to get them out of there. Simon only wants to be home, tend to his plants, and be cozy. Grace wants that too, but he’ll fuck you up if you try and stop Simon from getting it. If he could give Ava a piece of his mind, she’d be screwed.
Coltland Gentry: Ryland is the intellectual curious boy of the family, he doesn’t handle bullies great, his brothers try to protect him, but BOY! You say anything bad about any of his family?! He will scream, he will grapple, he will plot his revenge. Colt or Court already forgot someone said something mean to them? Not Ryland. Ryland remembers for years, plotting. Kid Ryland has ruined children’s grades and lives for picking on Colt. Ryland has to be held back by Colt is anyone ever calls Colt stupid. Court has had to yank a snarling, fully grown Ryland out of a fight before because someone called Court a psycho killer.
Starstruck: This man will verbally destroy Tom Ryder, I refuse to believe otherwise. Tom tries to flirt, Grace ain’t getting all owo giggly. He’s asking “sorry, I didn’t catch your name. What was it? Tim Reader? You with catering?” And Colt is wheezing from laughter in the background. Even when they get together, Grace doesn’t miss a single beat, teasing and being appropriate levels of mean. If he gets caught by Gail’s goons, yeah I think he tries to run first because he knows he can’t win, but that man will try to bite and claw if given the chance.
Drivinglessons: Driver doesn’t want to get Grace dirty? Thinks he’s too sweet for the world? Sure, sure, until someone tries to break into Grace’s apartment and Grace is already waiting with his self defense GOLF CLUB! Bro is living paycheck to paycheck. He knows about break ins. He has defenses! Bring back the chemistry equipment! You really think Mr. Funfacts over here doesn’t know the most insane ways to kill someone?!? I don’t know a scientist who DOESN’T know that!!
This is a grown ass man with crazy impressive muscles - which he ALREADY HAD before going into space!! This guy is strong!! - and some unchecked rage issues. He’s matured, he has whimsy, he knows he can’t win a brawl, he doesn’t curse, and he will 100% DEFEND HIMSELF AND HIS LOVED ONES. If anything, he’s way more feral for others than himself!
Make this man feral! Make this man fiercely protective! Make this man silly and happy and funny, but also completely ready to throw down when needed. He isn’t an angry man, but he is man with very intense anger. PLEASE!
Okay you got me, I caved in and drew some of the other gosliplier pairings. And yes I plan on drawing them again. I’m so easy to convince into shipping the most random of things.
