Calling all New Runners!!
Have you always wanted to try running? Perhaps you used to run but you have lost the habit and want to return to it? If this sounds like you and you would like to try running this summer - then this is for you!
John, aka fatmaninalittlesuit is going to be leading a 9 week session of Couch 2 5k. This program is specifically designed to help new runners get up from the couch to running a 5k. (See what they did there?)
We are starting June 3rd and running into August (Exact dates may vary depending on how you decided to run with it and how many days / weeks you decide to repeat.)
The program has you running 3 days a week starting with short intervals and working up to 30 min nonstop. No sessions are longer than 40 minutes including warm-up and cool down. You are encouraged, but not required to do some basic cross training as well during this time - I will through out some suggestions and welcome others to do the same.
You may want to find an app for your phone to help track intervals. I recommend the zenlabs c25k or c25k pro app because:
I used it in the past and love the interface
They have both free and paid versions
They have both Apple and Android versions
They have other 10k, ½ and full applications you can move to in the future if you find you like it
You are welcome to use any version of the program you like - there may be some minor differences but we can work with that. I also enjoy the zombies run version.
I will post weekly workouts and tips for new runners on Monday each week. The first one will be on June 3rd.
Please follow and post using the tag c25k 2019 this will make it easy to find relevant posts.
Feel free and use the 10k or half program if you would like - just modify them as appropriate. They start off very similar to C25k in many cases.
