Just watched supergirl and oh my god i am so obssed with the fact that we have a female main character and shes sloppy and snippy and rude and an alcoholic and messy and flawed. And yet shes still able to be kind and good and be an inspiration to people. All while not having a romance and while not trying to appeal to anyone. This is what everything should be.

Of course they don’t like Milly Alcock’s Supergirl. She’s a grown ass woman with zero love interests who spends the movie saving her dog, casually dismantling a sex trafficking ring while she’s at it, and preaching the importance of being good, not nice or smiley or cheerful but good. I for one adored the movie and I really hope I’ll get to see more of Alcock’s Supergirl she’s now my favorite iteration of her and I love her so dearly.

Pittlings teaching Javadi how to drive in Santos’ beat up, hanging-on-by-a-thread, car on a random weekday.

Whitaker acts like a mom. Constantly hanging onto something, trying to press on a phantom brake pedal, and saying Javadi is going too fast when she goes the speed limit.

Santos is entirely too casual. Saying “it’s ok” or “it’s cool” when Victoria hits a curb or gets too close to the car in front of them. When her car makes a weird noise and Victoria looks her way in concern she tells her not to worry about it. “Haven’t died yet so just ignore it.” It does not comfort Javadi.

Mel is the only helpful one. She doesn’t drive much herself but she knows the rules of the road. And the experience she does have, she uses to give small anecdotal advice. Will hold on just as tightly as Whitaker though.

Javadi does end up turning a corner too hard onto a narrow road and nearly hits another car before deciding that was enough for one day and having Santos drive back.

pov shane and ilya decide to be boyfriends at the cottage, but then shane is such a bad texter and caller afterwards that ilya thinks he changed his mind. because ilya is texting asking how his day went <3 and shane’s just like fine. had practice.

ilya is calling him just to hear his voice and shane is like ??? why are you calling me?? is everything okay? are you sad about your brother again?

ilya is sending nudes and shane is immediately deleting them and not acknowledging them because he’s scared of his phone getting hacked

finally when ilya comes to visit for the first time he’s like my shane ?? do you want to break up? and shane’s like no!!! never!!! tears are in his eyes. ‘why would i want to break up?!!!’ and ilya’s like well you never return my bids for attention….

shane feels awful and starts to learn the social norms around Boyfriending <3

A thing I really appreciate about supergirl is that Kara is never shown to be pretty. Yeha she is pretty regardless because they casted milly fucking alcock but the never show her to be put together. They let her be messy. They let her be rude. They let her fuck up. Every time we see strong confident women in media they are always wearing the tightest bodysuit and look beautiful even when they have been beaten to shit. Not here. Every scene Kara is in she looks like a car had run over her. And they don't "transform" her and make her look prettier by the end to show that she has started to heal. Nah they keep her like that and they change how she acts. I love supergirl.
