I sometimes feel that tumblr as a whole forgets anything beyond Shang besides the joke running around that he thought he was attracted to Ping. They forget that he’s taking on a group of soldiers who have never been trained, preparing them for war and to defend their homeland. Not only that, but he does it in the footsteps of his father who he greatly admires, and highly respects. 

He gets them all ready and willing to go, but then they find that destroyed village and what is left of the highly elite soldiers who his father was in charge of. The best of the best, and his father, were wiped out by the Huns and now he has to continue striving forward to defend China for the sake of his country but now as well in memory of his fallen father.

He’s much more than a ‘lol i may be gay’ joke, and I just wish I saw more of who he really was explored and discussed.
