It all stated with a video I saw and me thinking, "Wow, that's something two ocs of me would do! Let's draw them!" Did I draw them? Of course not! I started pacing in my room, thinking about the different ways they could have gotten in this situation.
The next step was me thinking that I don't usually think about them, but over two other characters. So I opened Pinterest to look for new cool fanart of those two.
There, I was greeted by my beautiful feed showing Tumbler posts of different hc and fandoms, and I was like, yeah, I wanted to get Tumbler for that!
And that's how I landed here...
Now I still have not drawn those two ocs of mine, but I managed to build a rough new alternative story for the cursed child, start a workout, get distracted by my years old flut laying next to my training equipment started playing on it again for approximately 15 minutes, then seeing the notes for this one school project, working on that, then getting a notification here, returning and writing this.
Did I manage to do something produktiv like learning for that test tomorrow or handing in this one task that's due today? No! I didn't even do the thing I originally planned to do!
But now you can enjoy my rants, so we still have a positive side!
I have this idea in my head concerning Soukoku and the possibility that something might go wrong when using Corruption.
It's a sad one really, because to get ther one of them has to die by the end of it, and depending on who it is it differs.
If Dazai were to die at the end, after getting Chuuya out of Corruption, but dying due to other injuries, I think Chuuya would lose his sense of humanity and ultimately die shortly after, either due to recklessness on a mission or because he jumped of a bridge while completely drunk. His last words would be something alonge the lines of "you and your double-suicides..."
If Chuuya were to die at the end, because Dazai came too late or because of a hit after Corruption stoped, he would make a final request, not unlike Oda. But he wouldn't ask Dazai to be good, he would ask him to live - and not just in the way he did up until now, but a healthy not self-destructive way, trying to actually find joy in life. So not unlike with Oda, Dazai would want to honour that last promise and live, and slowly get better but not without an endless guilt about letting another one of his loved ones die.
Okay, I found what I was searching for, so have some Employee Id Cards for GunnTech!!!
This is the generic one...
Everything with \\ gets replaced with information...
You have Type, Code(as in what do they do for GunnTech, S for Subject, M for Management, R for Researcher and P for Intern(p cause i forgott the English word for a second...) and ID Number(randome combination of Letters and Numbers) at the Top.
Then there's the basic onfo, that should be self-explanatory.
And at the bottom there are the infos repeated (Type, Code, Name, Birthday, Nationality, ID Number, Date of Issue and Expiry)
In my head, those ID-Cards are used to gain access to certain parts of the research facility, but you can't see at the cards exactly what type of clearance a person has (so if you wrre trying to get in to GunnTech and some restricted sections, you could not just grab a card, you'd have to know exactly who it is to know for sure where you can go)
So even everyone who's a hero has one. Those say obviously subject, and they can't just open doors, that could lead outside, but are needed to navigate the sparringrooms, dorms and so on...
Alright, so after about half a year and a finished semester of university, I actually finished the last two parts of that GunnTech Comic...
In theory, there are three parts left, but the last part is the first one I ever made when I didn't even plan on making more than one part, so I will put it here again...
The last part is missing the timestamp, and I'm too lazy to add it, so I'll just tell you that the last part is between 16:30 and 17:00...
Alright, so no gunntech (I haven't gotten to working on it), but I have a fanart for the very beautiful series 'What goes around(comes around)' by @arkodian, so enjoy!
Tryed some shading, but I'm not sure whether or not I'll keep it. I also changed the thickness of the lines. That's definitely gonna stay the way it's now.
Anyway, I have part two of "Daily Life at GunnTech"
Alright, hyperfixation kicking in right now cause what you mean I finally get to draw those poor GunnTech OCs that were rotting away somewhere since the beginning of the year (I think... could also be since the end of last year)?
Anyway, have a small comic with three of my OCs (Dr Ole Anderson, Saskia Nicen, and Noah) and a somewhat rushed render of my OC Noah...
Well, now there should be the lore, but I am frankly too tired at the moment to write all that out, so please, someone remind me at some time not in the middle of the night (in CET) to do the fucking lore addition...
Thank you @axolotlquestion for your lovely threat, and I hope the lore will be satisfying!
Cause there are three, and it dreads me to start with the most fleshed out character, we do it the other way around and go from least to most fleshed out... But first, a small character sheet of what they look like in the comic, generally speaking...
I mean in theory those three should be quite easily recognised also without this very short lineup with names, but well, I did it, then I will also use it...
With that out of the way, let's start!!!
Saskia Nicen
Our first and youngest member(by the date she was created by me) of this trio is Saskia Nicen. (Frantically searches for the last drawing I did of her)
As I hope you can see, she is a rather young researcher at GunnTech. In fact, the PJ project is the first highly classified project she is working on. (PJ stands in my head for "persona jurídica", which is actually a legal term to give corporations, organisations and companies the right to own property or enter into contracts like humans, and because the PJs are a form of organisation sposored and developed by GunnTech I thought it rather fitting for saying they are property of GunnTech in their eyes and not living human beings). She studied neuroscience and had already worked on another project at GunnTech before being transferred to the PJ project, which would probably be at the beginning of Season 1.
Generally speaking, she's a very ambitious person and sees her involvement in the PJ project as the launch of her career as a known scientist, and would do anything for her research results, cause she links her self-worth to them to some extent.
(At this point, Tumbler didn't let me save the draft I made for the rest of her lore and already some of the next character, so here we go again...)
She focuses on brain functions and how the implant affects those. To get better or more results, she's willing to add outside stressors during tests. So, things like Connor in a room that slowly gets flooded are totally up her line of reasoning and testing. Helpful is her moral code along the lines of "well, we have to get the information somewhere, and this will help more people in the future than were hurt in any way during experimentation." But she also doesn't know everything about the project, such as where all children come from and where failures end up. Because of her views, she doesn't understand Dr. Andersons doubts regarding his work and is prepared to take his position, should he quit or be fired.
What bugs her most about her job is that she can't really talk about it(like everyone working there). Since GunnTech revealed the PJ project, she can at least say what she is working on, but because the public still only knows the basics and sees Amaya, Connor and Greg from time to time as the poster children of the project, she can't really say what exactly she does. This discredits her in her opinion as a good scientist.
As for her role in the story, she is mostly an antagonist for most of the time and a bit of a reflection of Dr. Anderson. Because she links her ambition and self-worth to her research results, she is known as one of the most "efficient" scientists in the team and isn't well liked with the kids. I don't think she would ever change her stance, cause that would mean she was wrong and all she did was useless and worthless, so she couldn't be wrong about this. So she would only admit after GunnTech was exposed, and she maybe heard the accounts of some of the kids that were part of the experiments.
She would be at a very low point afterwards and never return to research.
Dr. Ole Anderson
Dr. Ole Anderson is a molecular biologist specialised in molecular biodiversity, which is basically biodiversity but through the lens of DNA. He is a head researcher on the PJ project and worked on the previous project, which laid the basis for this one. His position was originally that of another head researcher on the last project, who declined after reading the basis for the PJ project. He didn't know why they declined until the project started, cause NDAs and all that to keep it as secret as possible.
He actually has a lot of problems with experimentation on children, especially because he has a daughter that's around the age of the main three and a son thats 8 years old(he is 48, by the way). The reason he still works on the project is that he needed to work there for a set amount of years before being allowed to quit and after those he was like "well, here are enough scientists that actually don't care about those children, so I might as well stay and do my best to be nice to them." His main task is picking, obseving and controlling the integration of the animals' DNA to give them powers into their DNA, as well as the activation of those gens.
Dr. Anderson tries to get his results as humane as possible, what makes his work process slower, but the children around him are more relaxed and willing to go along. So he is some sort of father figure for some of them (those that are not there cause their parents signed them up, but were trafficked or sold), even though most theoretically have a designated carer for them. A habit of his is handing out sweets after any test to cheer them up and give them something special (cause they obviously don't get sweets as experiments and basically child soldiers...). As part of his somewhat protector role at GunnTech, he also tries to keep a closer eye on Saskia and other researchers like her to make sure their experiments stay non-lethal.
This is also the relationship he has with Noah, who sees him as such a father figure. Even though he should not form an emotional attachment to any of the children, he does see Noah as someone he is responsible for after he was the first person to look after him when Noah first came to GunnTech.
Even though he did sign an NDA regarding all things surrounding th PJ project, his wife knows parts of it (I don't really have much on her, except that I want her to be a journalist) and he eventually tells her everything near the end of the whole ordeal.
In the story, he would be the somewhat safe adult at GunnTech for the children in Season 1 and 2. After that, he would finally have enough, especially when methods for the retreaval of Nori and Luna get more brutal and violent as well as the treatment of all the children at the facility to keep them from even trying to escape. At this point, somewhere in Season 3 (I think... I don't have any exact plan or don't exactly know much regarding the timeline), he would finally leave GunnTech and start searching for a new job. Additionally, he would keep his home open for any kid from the project, even though it's risky with GunnTech more and more willing to show how brutal they can get just to get what they want. In the end, he tells everything his wife, as I already said, to get all the information about the PJ project out there and not just the account of the kids.
After everything, he returns to research but actively fights for human conditions and transparency in research.
Noah
(The pictures are directly from my sketchbook, so it's not the cleanest and not the most recent, but the closest I get to an actual charactersheet...)
Noah was raised in an abusive home, where he was mainly starved as punishment for miniscule mistakes, to rob him of as much energy as possible. The reason is that a classic beating didn't do the trick for him because he has congenital insensitivity to pain, so you had to find another way to punish your kid... That doesn't mean that he wasn't hit. He just didn't feel it. The good thing is that it makes it easier to explain any bruses, broken bones, burns, and wounds. Well, anyway... because Noah was an unwanted child, his parents had no problem with selling him to GunnTech when they showed up at their doorstep and provided the helpful solution of giving Noah in their care, once CPS was alarmed cause of complaints from neighbours and teachers of the now 6, nearly 7 years old Noah.
The thing is, even though Noah didn't feel the pain (and the hunger also just to a certain degree), he did feel the clear hate his parents showed towards him. Now, the research facility seemed to be for him, like a paradise with everything he wanted, as long as he let them do some tests on him. He also instantly attached himself to the first person, showing genuine concern and interest in him. That being Dr. Anderson. He was lucky enough that he hadn't any serious issues as osteomyelitis when he came to GunnTech, so he actually enjoyed the first few years at GunnTech. He has one of the all white hospital like rooms there, and his clothes mainly consist of some variation of GunnTechs merch, his subject number (what he is named in the GunnTech files, cause I don't belive that they actually keep their names in the files...) is 3PJ053613.
(The subject number consists of multiple parts indicating what clearance the subject is (3 for highly classified), what project it is(PJ, obviously), which generation of the project (5th generation), which year ot was created (2036), and which subject in that generation it is(13). The year is chosen after the one ask of our leader @elmushterri that said it's like 2050 to 2070 in the series)
When he was nine, he first activated his implant. It's a snake, more specifically, a viper(very specific a hairry bush viper cause I like them) implant. As side effects of this, he is constantly cold (though he doesn't feel that he still is and is ordered to only wear warm clothes), he doesn't hear very well and wears hearing aids, and is very light sensitive. When the implant is activated, he physically gains retractable fangs, feather like scales on his neck and parts of his back, a forcked toung, and slitt like pupils. The pupils stay slightly slitted even when the implant is not activated, and his high flexibility also doesn't vanish with deactivation. His skills when the implant is activated are the production of a neuro-/cytotoxin, thermic vision, and night vision, apart from the always "active" flexibility and stealth. Another positive effect is that the implant helps with his CIPA, making him at least aware of injuries, but still not capable of feeling much pain.
As a person, Noah is very loyal and likes pleasing the people he looks up to. That makes it very easy for GunnTech to actually manipulate him into playing along with their plans. He has a twisted sense of equal exchange, that leads him to believe all the experiments are just what he has to pay as a thanks for them saving him (and really that get said over and over to him, that he was saved by them, that he owes them this...). Dr. Anderson tries to gently get him to believe that he has long repaid them but never even gets him to the point where he sees it as showing his gratitude for living there. Generally speaking, he tells Dr. Anderson everything he wants, and even complains to him about arguments with other kids.
Speaking of arguments with other kids, he has those a lot because, as I already said in his book, GunnTech is good and saved him, so when someone starts any form of complaint, he gets very defensive and confrontational. He once got into a fight with another kid and broke his nose. But because he doesn't feel it, he wanted to go on, what made him some very weird guy in most of their eyes. He generally stays away from too many people and has the habit of playing cocky and annoyingly cheerful to keep people away.
He doesn't get used as a hero very often and even doesn't have to do combat training as religiously as others because he easily gets injured due to him simply not noticing any wrong movements and pain indicating strain on bones or joints. He still had basic combat training, but his focus was more on shooting. His whole thing as a hero(he simply goes by Viper) is, that he uses special bullets, that he can infuse with his venom, when biting on them and then lying on some rooftop and waiting for is signal to shoot his target. The venom is not lethal in a small dose, and if given the antidote, it mainly paralyses his targets. Because of that, he is mainly used for retrieving or taking out people who go against GunnTech, so also Luna and Nori...
His story would be all about how he slowly starts to notice the abuse and neglect as well as endangerment at GunnTech, especially in later Seasons, when he is set on people he was usually working with and knew were good. His last straw would be when he should go after Dr. Anderson because GunnTech doesn't realise how much he actually respects him. (He did feel betrayal when he left, but he could not take him out...) So he also goes against GunnTech (well, not really he just doesn't go back) and has a huge mental breakdown, because so far no one in his life actually liked him for himself and either just straight up hated him or exploited him. He gets like really silent and withdrawn, doesn't even talk to Dr. Anderson, where he stays cause where els should he go, but doesn't really trust and yeah, that's his arc till now...
Alright, that's it for now... Damn that took a lot of time...
Anyway, I hope everyone's happy with it and I didn't mess up big time somewhere in ther...
So apparently, I also forgot to post this here... Well, better late than never, I guess.
This is a website design for the GunnTech AU by @elmushterri , specifically for GunnTech. I rediscovered it today and reworked it a bit, but please consider I don't usually design shit.
If you wanna read all the explanations as to
why what was chosen, read below.
First of all colours:
So, I wanted this to look like a really serious
website of a firm that has obviously
NOTHING to do with somewhat (or very)
cruel human experimentation, and somehow
blue and yellow was the colour combination
that practically jumped me. The contrast
is nice as well for a website design, so I ran
with it. Apart from that, not much thought
or meaning behind it.
Logo and Name:
Okay, here I must say the logo was
an obvious choice cause this G and T
combination is also in Alex's logo, and it just
its. I did allow myself to put the whole thing
in a hexagon cause I felt like it needed to get
a frame. Hexagons also seem sciency to me.
The name "Gunn Technologies - Research
Centres" was chosen cause in my head
GunnTech is this big company that's
basically saying "here we give you the
recourses to do your research, the products
belong to us, you get paid and need to be
available for projects we want to do". But
cause they pay good and let you do your
independent research to some extent, they
are very popular and have lots of world class
scientists, engineers, and so on... Because
of that, they have different research centres
and the Pjs are part of the Molekularbiologie
branch if we go with the retro virus
explanation.
Content:
The rest of the content is just what you can
basically find on any website of a research
institute. Here a warning that while I did
biology for all my time in school and am
going to study molecular biology and
biotechnology, I by no means know if those
articles do make sense.
As you might notice, there is nothing about
the PJs here. And that's because in my
head, the PJs are something GunnTech
does without the public knowing, and just
later on, making public knowledge. Even
then letting out a lot of stuff... (cause you
know obvious human experimentation and
neglect of children in their care, as well as (in
my head) human trafficking to get all their
subject, not even mentioning failures of the
first few generations).
Apart from that we have all this information
about contact information and so on at the
very bottom, which is not completely made
up. (I took some random streat in Boston,
so this might actually exist, as well as the
phone number, cause you never know even
if those are random numbers)
Also those pictures are obviously not mine, if you want the sources, please write me and l'll either post them here of send them to you, I'm just to lazy and tired to add them at the moment..
Switching back from english books to your native language after some time is sooo fun, because it first of all feels off, and second of all, you discover words you didn't know existed in your language...
Does anyone besides me have this deap fear of embarrassing yourself in public?
Well, more like I don't want to embarrass myself and then think too much how I could embarrass myself... And that is mostly because of incidents like the following one.
So today, I thought I had this appointment.
Key word thought... Because I did, in fact, not have this appointment today... I have it tomorrow...
But I was there today...
I had to talk to the people there...
I had to tell them why I was there...
It was not like they were angty or so, but it's like my worst fear come true...
So now I had to go back home, had to wait an hour for public transport to do so, and come back tomorrow. I actually do not want to go back there, but want to cancel the appointment at this very moment...
I was so done with myself at this moment that I needed to buy myself sugar. And this my friends happens only when I'm really lost and/or tired.
ANYWAY, I hope you have better experiences than this today!
On top of that, a lot of (foreign) names for tribal groups or communities boil down to:
"Those Guys Who Aren't Us".
This happened for the same reason, explorers talking with a group they had contact with and asking them about their neighbours. These names are known as exonyms because they've been applied from outside the group.
One famous example is Eskimo - the etymology is disputed but the most accepted meaning is "The Guys Who Wear Snowshoes", as named by tribes who did not wear snowshoes. That's why the word has been phased out for Inuit - lit. "The People" (or, essentially "Us").
Or my favourite one - we don't know what the Celts called themselves. Celt comes from the Greek keltoi, meaning "Foreigner". The Romans referred to the Celtic peoples of modern-day France as gauls, meaning... "Foreigner". The French refer to the Welsh as gallois, meaning... "Foreigner"!
Even "Welsh" essentially means "Foreigner"! It's derived from a generic Old German word for people living in Gaul. But the Welsh call themselves Cymry, which means "fellow countrymen".
In short: scratch the surface and many names mean either "us" or "them", and no one in human history has had any imagination.
Can I just vent about my disappointment in the cursed child?
Like, you had sooo much to write about. Why choose this train wreck of a story?
Here is a list of untold stories I would gladly read instead (as official books I can buy and don't need to print myself) :
About the Founders of Hogwarts
The Marauders (obviously)
How Voldemort gained his power
The story of Dumbledrore and Grindelwald (I mean the time they worked together, not the things we see in FantasticBeasts)
That one Headcanon about Dudley's daughter being a witch
I would even read a slice of life book about the general life at Hogwarts!
Heck, if needed, you could even reuse the idea of Grindelwald or rather a similar idea. It would be hella interesting to read about the integration of the wizarding world in the muggle world:
What problems would be created?
What would be the reaction on both sides?
Would there be extreme positions on both sides?
How would a law look like that tries to regulate both wizards and Muggles?
All I am saying is, that there is so much to choose from that's waaaayy better than this fucked up shit of bullshiting crime against a in (nearly) every other point good built universe and fandom (maybe it's no longer the original but the one built by fans but whatever).
