Apparently some people still need to hear this so: using an 'ai checker' is still using ai. If you are feeding someone's fic to one of these checkers, you will still not be sure their fic is ai because they are not 100% accurate, but you can be 100% sure that you are using ai. For fic. Furthermore you are doing the work of an ai scraper for them. You are, personally, feeding the machine. There is no actual excuse for using an ai checker on fanfic as a hobby. YOU are the problem.
If you think a fic is ai, mute it and move on. That's it. That's all you do.
Um. Yikes
Is there an app or script that can block certain comments based on keywords. The MDL block list is only so big and I want to block comments featuring a few recurring annoying terms.
The HVAC or whatever at work keeps cutting in and out every 10-15 seconds and it's driving me nuts!
Just saw a brown rat run across the street and then hop through the grass. That might be the first time I've seen a rat? I thought it was a squirrel at first until I saw the tail.
Avatar Seven Havens looks good! Very curious about what looks like evil Korra? and "the avatar let us down". My first thought is this is a case of history being distorted and whatever happened wasn't actually the avatar at all. The animation is looking a little different here, I can't pin point how.
The Avatar Aang movie is out on Saturday. I didn't watch it when it was leaked, I was holding out so I'm glad they released it earlier than October.
I've been doing an absolutely horrible job at sleep lately, and daytime me has the very best of intentions, but then nighttime me is a vapid fool who doesn't seem to care.
spent forty-five minutes today helping an 87yo woman who does not own a computer or a cell phone try to set up an email account so that she could then set up a second account in order to access benefits. went with protonmail, because they don't require 2fa, but it turns out that while you can still make a protonmail account without authentication you can no longer use it to create OTHER accounts without it, and the benefits page she needed to get to required both an email and a cell phone to create an account anyway. asked if she wanted to try going in person to see if someone there could help her, and she said that she had, and they'd directed her to the website. she tried signing up with her landline, but of course that didn't work because you can't do SMS authentication that way. finally ended up writing up detailed instructions for how to log in and authenticate her account so she can drive to her severely disabled daughter's house forty minutes away because that's the only person she knows and trusts who has both a cell phone and a computer.
anyway i fucking hate mandatory 2fa and i think the people responsible for it should have to spend a year navigating their lives with no cell phone and no internet access beyond the public library pcs. fuck.
i made a post like this before but I can't find it now. so. I'll just redo it.
What's the first "big news story" you remember from when you were a kid?
It's something I love to ask mixed-aged groups sometimes because I think it's really interesting to see the responses. I've gotten answers from the Olympics of [whatever year] to Watergate to more recent stuff from my niblings.
My first news thing I remember is the OJ Simpson trial. I vaguely remember watching the news with my grandparents before that, but that's the first story I remember, in part because my second grade teacher had us go play so she could watch the verdict 😂
I remember walking down the street and seeing a sign protesting George W. Bush’s war on Iraq, so I think that.

Next time I'm downtown I need to go to the artisan loft. I'm looking for like a squid or octopus print for my bathroom and I think that might be the place to go. Also they have some pretty yarn on their Instagram page.
There's always been unsavory things on the Internet but I think before social media things were silo'd away. You have to go looking, things weren't just fed to you by an algorithm.
So I'm not sure simply banning kids off platforms fixes the root of the problem.
Social media has a content moderation problem imo. Everything is thrown into one pot and dolled out to people based on a black box algorithm that we have very little control over.
Ok now I’m curious… Which do you prefer:
I have lived in and out of the city, I prefer the city
I have only lived in the city, I prefer the city
I have only lived out of the city, I prefer the city
I have lived in and out of the city, I prefer out of the city
I have only lived in the city, I prefer out of the city
I have only lived out of the city, I prefer out of the city

I wish we had better public transportation or shuttle buses to local tourist spots. There's so many places I'd like to go but you really need a car here.
See you at work tomorrow! (2026) | Episode 9
It sucks that so much of j-drama subbing either goes through twitter or drama otaku.
I don't have a twitter account, and drama otaku makes you jump through 1000 hoops to sign up. The application asks for a voice recording which was super sketchy imo and I nope'd out pretty quick.
I miss when torrents and IRC channels were the thing.
