i can't keep measurement conversions in my head at all, and i am canadian and thus caught weirdly between imperial and metric, so pretty much every day of my life i have to stop reading something so i can search "miles to kilometres" or "kilograms to pounds." i don't mind that at all because i know the author is just an american writing to an assumed american audience or a brit writing to an assumed british audience or what have you. that's totally fine. i do however take issue with popular tech outlet the verge assuming that their audience consists solely of structural engineers employed by the NYC department of buildings

the problem marxists have on disability is that they aren't reading marxist thought on disability and just kind of winging it. marta russell already laid out the political economy of disability in the global north in the 90s and global south scholars have their own (marxist) schools of thought on disability and have iterated on global north marxist disability analyses. disabled people are workers, most often. and handicapitalism (russell's term) has also turned disabled people into commodities. it's impossible to understand modern politics without engaging with these two realities.

for my local mutuals: free naloxone kits in nl. tons of places have them, if you're in town and accessibility is an issue i recommend SWAP (they will mail them to you), or either of the MHAs on the list if you're in their district (jim dinn and paul lane; they generally have staffers do runs of various things they offer to constituents)

i did naloxone training through st. john ambulance for free (virtual, asynchronous, took maybe an hour) but they don't seem to offer it at the moment. i have seen this site recommended a lot though
