“Darling, you can put anything, anywhere you’d like.” Agatha’s hands slid around my waist from behind.
I huffed leaning back against her with my hands full. One holding three books from my teenage years. Books that I was too nostalgic to let go of. The other gripped tight on an action figure. I never realized how many trinkets I had obtained in my life. The more I unpacked the more I thought how much they simply didn’t fit in.
Agatha’s decor felt so delicate and precise.
Now here I was with neon bound books and a captain phasma action figure.
“It’s just going to ruin the aesthetic.” I argued, white knuckled hands falling to my sides.
A low chuckle pressed against my ear as she held tighter. “No it won’t. Now, put your dolls wherever you want.”
I let my head fall back with a dramatic groan. “They’re not dolls.”
When she laughed again I knew she was trying to hold it in. With a turn of my head I shot her a pout that was just shy of a smile.
She rolled her eyes over a smirk as she let go of me and grabbed everything I was holding. I watched as she moved across the room.
The room I had deemed her little library a couple of weeks ago. Which she quickly corrected to ‘our little library’ that had my heart near a flat line.
She eyed the books title by title before slipping them onto the shelves where she found room. I moved towards her as I watched.
Her brilliant fingers tucked hair behind her ear as she looked around in utter concentration. She jumped to the right as I got closer and purposely placed the stormtrooper on a midlevel shelf.
“There.” She turned in pause, smiling as if proud of herself. “Your little soldier is now the guardian of our books.”
I laughed stepping up to her. “Have you ever seen Star Wars?”
Her grin was intoxicating as she waved a hand with a shrug. “I’m sure I’ve got a glimpse of the movie here or there.” Her arms tucked around me again pulling us chest to chest. “Why is that what it’s from?”
I laughed again into her shoulder. “It’s not just a singular movie.” I looked up to find her eyebrow raised. “But yes that is where she’s from.”
“Ahh, a woman soldier. Even better.” She smacked a loud kiss to my forehead.
“She’s evil.” I murmured against her neck as she started rocking us back and forth. “Again, even better.” She whispered low and amused before another kiss dropped to my ear.
A moment passed in a steady quiet.
“I want it all, kitten.” Her voice broke the quiet. “All of your nerdy things. All of your messy paperwork. Your infinite amount of hooded sweatshirts. That goofy little blanket you like to keep under your pillow that you think I don’t know about.” She paused to eye me with a smug look. “Every bit of you. I want this house to look like I’ve been drowned in all of your intricacies.”
I could only stare blinking foolishly for a few seconds.
My heart pumped so hard over her words, I swear I could hear the swoosh of it rushing blood past my ears.
I pushed in for a deliberate slow kiss. Those perfect fingertips pressed against my lower back to keep me close.
“So in fucking love with you.” I mumbled against her lips, not wanting to stray too far from them.
She hummed with a smile of pure mischief as her feet started pushing me backwards.
“I think we need a break from unpacking.”
My nose scrunched trying suppress a wide smile. “Oh, is that so?” Her lips pursed, eyes crinkled and smiley. “Yes. There may still be a couple of rooms you haven’t seen yet.” “Is this where you tell me you have a sex dungeon?” I teased playfully. A full body laugh rocked out, stilling her movement as her head fell back a moment. I moved my lips, kissing down her neck between puffs of laughter. Those dangerously clever eyes skimmed across my face right above a vicious smile. “No, but we can definitely start planning for that my naughty girl.”
I laughed into a kiss. “Hmm, we’ll save that for when we’re old and need a little more spice.”
“I already am old.” Her hands squeezed my hips emphasizing the sarcasm. I shook my head chuckling against her lips again. “Oh, hush you.”
With a quick halt she turned us around and walked me towards the couch.
There was no need to stray away for touch. No need to explore bits of the house I hadn’t seen yet. No rush in any way. We had all the time in the world.
I sat and tugged at her belt loops. Her hair fell wild to frame her face.
“I am so sickeningly in love with you.” She spoke it low and steady.
Her fingers brushed from the tip of my chin and down my jaw, stopping to rub my ear.
I turned to kiss her palm just before she pinned me down beneath her.
Right where I belonged.

Agatha had been in and out of calls in her office the entire morning on my day off.
Spring was finally starting to break through. A dove nested in the gutter of the pool house in the back yard.
Agatha and I had a lighthearted argument about it after we discovered where the coos were coming from. She insisted she call someone to move the nest. Argued there were plenty of damn trees in her yard to choose from. Why on earth would it choose the gutter?
I may have shot her a really pathetic doe eyed look, and she might have folded like origami under it. Warning me after that if the birds wrecked the gutter I’d be getting my ‘cute butt’ up there to fix it myself.
Ever since discovering it I had made a point to sit and watch every day. Especially if I found time in the morning.
Now with my cup of coffee empty and boredom slipping in, all I could think about was the busy woman upstairs.
I moved about the kitchen. The kitchen I had grown very used to, yet at the same time a lingering disbelief that this was the house I lived in.
Two fresh mugs of coffee in hand, and I was carefully toeing up the staircase towards her voice.
I smiled sheepishly as I stepped into her office holding the steaming cups up.
She knew and I knew that she knew, that this was all a ruse to bother her.
I watched as her tongue slid on the inside of her lower lip. The lips that were trying very hard not to smile, but the eyes gave her away. They always did.
I moved to her desk and set the mugs down as she finished up the call she was on. Quietly, I moved behind her, hands smoothing along her shoulders then down to her chest rubbing gently. Her muscles relaxed in an instant and a barely there sigh escaped.
My focus got drawn to her hand singing a piece of paper. It held my attention so much I didn’t realize she was off the call until she nudged my chin with the back of her head.
“You’re left handed.” I stated staring at her hand still.
Her right moved another piece of paper to her left to sign.
An almost scoffing laugh sounded as she shook her head. “Just realizing that now, kitten?”
“Yes, actually.” I whispered against her temple, eyes still fixed on the pen holding appendage.
The warm humming sound she made was low and soothing. “Odd not to pick up on something like that. It has certainly, rather dominantly, earned your praises enough.”
I nearly choked on a laugh that I pressed with warm cheeks into her hair.
The pen dropped and both hands moved to cover mine as she leaned back smiling up.
“To be fair, they both are always pretty busy. Hard to keep track of which one is the best.” My chest fluttered as I spoke looking down at her.
I still found myself nerved and torn up under her gaze.
“Fuck.” She whispered shaking her head with a crooked smile. “Now I’m going to have to push the meeting I have in ten minutes.”
I had barely two blinks to register before she was twirled in her chair and up. Arms instantly around me, lips kissing me with surprising gentleness.
“I can keep quiet while you’re on the phone.” I teased playfully between kisses as I threaded my fingers in her hair.
“No.” She said it so soft and kind. “I’m going to have to take my time with this.” Her left pointer slid just under the waist band of my shorts alongside a deep kiss. “Make sure my girl really knows how good I am with my left hand.”
She made quite the show of it when we hit our bed. Made sure to keep her shirt on. Slid her right arm inside of the shirt to hold it in place.
Her eyes didn’t leave mine once as her left hand controlled every sound and move I made with it’s fingers.
The look on her face, an insanely brain breaking mix of soft and smug adoration.
If a woman could get another woman pregnant with love alone, it would’ve happened right there as the doves made themselves known on the warm spring breeze.

Agatha was stood at the stove. Apron on and concentration maxed out on the task at hand.
The task being making dinner for my parents.
It hadn’t been smooth sailing at first. If I’m being honest the road was still a bit rocky between us, but everyone was trying.
I wrapped my arms around her messy aproned waist, and nuzzled my chin onto her shoulder.
Every ounce of her look frazzled. I secretly loved it. Seeing her in moments where she couldn’t keep her effortlessness. “Tell me again why you insisted on cooking for tonight?” I kissed at her neck softly as she stirred the pot.
I tried to convince her to let her chef make the food for tonight. Not because I was against her cooking, but because I knew it would stress her out more than she already was. Despite her insisting she wasn’t worried about tonight at all.
It truly smelled amazing. She had told me the name of it a couple of times. Some fancy Italian name. Swears she learned it on a trip over there once after wooing someones nonna.
I believed every word of it.
“Because.” Her body pressed back into mine as she killed the burner. “I can actually attempt to win your parents over now that they’ve gotten over the instinctual hatred they held for me.”
I nipped at her ear gently. “You’re very cute and this smells very good.”
“Oh, is that so?” Her smile lit up her profile as she reached for a fork. “You can be my pretty little test subject.” She turned with a forkful of the steaming pasta.
I rubbed at her hips. Her hand tucked gently under my chin while she blew on the bite. I fell into the love in her eyes as I wrapped my lips around the fork.
Of course it was amazing.
I hummed as I chewed and she watched me as if taking in every little bit of my reaction.
“So good baby.” I chased my words with a kiss.
“Think so?” She asked with a perfect mix of smug and nerves.
I nodded and kissed her again. “I know so.” Another chaste kiss. “Now, go get ready and I’ll clean up.”
She stared at me for a few seconds with a reading smile. I swear she could see straight through to my brain. I rubbed where her shoulders met her neck and let out a soft laugh. “What?” I gave in after the silent stare persisted.
Agatha leaned in for a kiss that could melt a blizzard. It took away every ounce of oxygen I had.
She pulled back with that same look. “You give me butterflies.”
Ironic.
As she said it, there was a swarm in me.

We both answered the door as the bell rang.
Their eyes popped around as soon as they stepped in.
My dad let out a low whistle. “Swish digs, kiddo.”
I let out a short laugh stepping back. “You’re telling me.”
Mom shuffled in awkwardly. Agatha and her darted eyes quickly to each other.
“I heard.” My mom cleared her throat for a second, hand gripping a bouquet of flowers. “Well, I heard you like purple. I hope these are alright.”
She held out the flowers to Agatha. A gorgeous mix of purple flowers with some green accents.
I smiled watching the exchange.
“Yes. They’re great. Thank you.” Agatha quickly responded, hands smoothed into her back pockets before with an awkward jump she reached to take the bunch.
Now that there weren’t such tense waters, I could let a laugh sneak out at them interacting.
She tried to play it so cool, but the Agatha Harkness had nerves like an over boiled noodle around my parents.
It made me so happy to see her around them now.
I knew it bothered her way too much. The idea of them hating her or me losing them because of us.
She was like a kid at her first week in a new school. Nervous to be judged.
God I loved her so damn much.
I stepped to her and smoothed a hand on her back. “Thanks mom. They’re pretty.”
She nodded with a small smile.
“Let me show you around.” Agatha interjected in a jumpy way.
She started to lead my mom to the left. I looked to my dad who was wearing a wide smile.
I matched it and waved him to follow. Before he did, he raised the back of his hand to his forehead to make a show of wiping off sweat.
I laughed and he shot me a wink before we towed behind.
Dinner was ridiculously good. I swear it tasted better after sitting for a bit.
My mom even went for seconds, which was an almost non existent occurrence.
We settled into the sitting room with glasses of wine.
Agatha was animatedly telling a story about the trip to Italy that inspired tonights meal.
There were a few times where she had to stop speaking from making herself laugh before she could spit out parts of the tale.
It didn’t help that each time I started cracking up with her before I even knew the joke.
Conversation flowed easily. As if we’d done it a million times.
The night was so relaxed that I didn’t even realize how cuddled up Agatha and I had got.
I was pressed into her side, arm behind her back squished between the couch arm and her. Her leg was crossed over mine, her arm around my shoulders.
When I realized I stiffened a little.
My mom picked up on it almost instantly. She stood with a genuine smile and without a word took a picture of us on her phone.
I got chills from the emotions it sent through me. She took another as I beamed up at her.
Perfect.

I was pacing the floor of the basement. My feet led me there for whatever reason.
We’d just had our first fight since moving in, and it was stupid.
Beyond fucking foolish.
I instantly felt horrible after storming away.
We were sitting on the back deck curled up together on the outdoor sofa. She brought up getting me a new car.
Somehow, for some reason I got defensive about it. I may have a slight attachment to my old town car.
Then, she made a comment about not wanting it leaking oil on the driveway.
It was lighthearted. She was trying to defuse the situation and I knew it.
Despite that I made a ridiculous comment and stormed off.
‘The car comes with me. Take it or leave it.’
As if this vehicle was a sentient part of my existence. Honestly, I blame the brave little toaster for making me attach to inanimate objects.
Ultimately, I got insecure about it and lashed out. I instantly felt horrible before I even stepped back into the house after walking away.
So, here I stood sniffling and wiping my tears even though it was my fault.
By the time the half hour mark hit I started to panic a little. She hadn’t even seemed to be looking for me.
Which she shouldn’t. I was the horrible one.
I sat on the ugly dusty couch she had in the corner of the basement. I didn’t even know how I would begin to explain why I reacted the way I did.
Instead, I sat with my legs pressed against my chest, chin on the top of my knees. Hiding from the problem.
A sigh sounded in the silence right after I heard the door open at the top of the stairs.
Agatha slowly made her way down and found me looking like a sad little rat tucked in on itself.
“What are you doing in the basement, kitten?” She asked carefully stepping closer. “I’ve been looking everywhere for you.”
Of course she was. It only made me feel worse for doubting that she would’ve been searching. I wouldn’t have thought to check the basement either.
I buried my face into my knees. “I’m sorry.”
Another sigh slipped from her as the couch dipped next to me under her weight.
“Darling.” She trailed off and rubbed my back. “What was that about?”
“I don’t know.” I answered instantly and looked up to her as tears started to well up again. “I’m so sorry. I don’t know why I did that. I’m sorry.” She pulled me in and against her chest then kissed the top of my head. “Shh, it’s okay.” I clung to her right away. “Not fair to you that I did that.”
She shushed me again and squeezed me tighter.
A long silence passed as I tried to straighten out what I wanted to say. “I guess.” I swallowed and looked up. “I still get insecure sometimes.” I was desperately searching to read her face. “And I really love that car. It’s the last car I drove with my nana in before she passed. The car that drove me back home after heartbreak. I get sentimental over things I maybe shouldn’t. I genuinely think I’d cry watching that damn car leave. I’m sorry.”
She grabbed my face gently and kissed me.
“I did not know how much you love it. You’re allowed every ounce of sentiment you need to feel.” Her thumbs rubbed my cheeks softly. “I was joking about the oil stains. You know I wouldn’t care about that.” I nodded chin trembling again. “I know. I felt like a jerk as soon as I walked away. I’m sorry.”
“Stop apologizing.” She kissed me firm. “I love everything about you. Even that ridiculous boat you drive.”
A laugh bubbled out of me and she joined in.
“Really still love me? Even though I’m an ass.” I asked quietly after a few seconds. She scoffed and rolled her eyes. Her hands held me still as she kissed her smirk into me.
“Forever.” She whispered with a twinkling glint in her eyes.
I pushed into her lips again, relaxing more with every millisecond that passed.
“Is the part where we have wild makeup sex?” I asked barely above a whisper.
Her laugh became mine with sloppy kisses.
The night grew into a forgiving and understanding one.
A week passed and I honestly had forgotten about it.
When Agatha offered to drive me to work one morning I accepted without a thought.
The sun was setting a glow as it went down when we got home that night. Even in the dimming light I knew my car looked different.
I turned to her with a quizzical stare.
“Don’t get upset.” She started with a small smile as she parked next to my car. “I had it deep cleaned and they repaired whatever they thought necessary. New tires and sealed underneath for any weather we get. I was adamant with the mechanic that we needed to get the maximum life out of it, no matter the cost.” I stared at her blankly, she just smiled deeper. “So keep your damn tank. If I just happen to get another car, that you happen to like it can just be the days choice on what you drive, kitten.”
I glanced to my shiny waxed car then back to her.
“Didn’t have to do that.” It came out quiet as I leaned closer to her.
“I’ll do everything for you.” She whispered, face shifting into a seriousness.
We kissed in the front seat like two teenagers not willing to part from a date.
—————————————————————————
I’d already been swimming for a few minutes when Agatha walked outside.
“Hey, hot stuff.” I called over wading water. “Gonna come join me?”
She stood a couple feet from the pools edge. A grin she was trying to dim paired with crossed arms. Her top was fancy and ironed to perfection for a call she just had in her office. Casual shorts poked out under the blouse.
The first time I saw her in shorts, it did something to me. Yeah, I’d seen her completely naked, but there was something about her lounging in shorts when the weather warmed that clattered my mind.
“You’re like a little otter since I opened the pool.” It came out in a playful tease. “This whole week, whenever I think to myself, where’s my girlfriend? I find you here like a little sea urchin.”
I snorted and swam closer. “Is it an otter or a sea urchin? Because otter’s need a hand to hold.” I leaned on the side of the pool looking up at her. “So, if anything you’re the reason I’m a sea urchin because I don’t have your hand to hold in here.”
A scoff laughed it’s way out of her. I watched as her teeth bit the inside of her lip, shifting it in her bite under sharp glaringly playful eyes.
“My hand?” She finally shot back and knelt in front of me. “You’ll cling to me like a barnacle as soon as I get in. Don’t fib.”
I sighed dramatically and swam backwards away from her. “Now I’m a barnacle. How cruel my love is to me.”
A grumble reached my ears and I stopped to look at her again smiling wide as I watched on. First her shirt got tossed to a chair, then her shorts, revealing her swimsuit. She walked in gracefully, looking down at the water with each step in like it owed her a favor for getting in.
As soon as she got in up to her shoulders, I swam over and wrapped around her. “Teasing me this whole time as if you didn’t have your bathing suit on.”
She shook her head with a soft smile, arms winding around me as she held me up. “Barnacle.”
“Hush.” I whispered against her lips before sealing hers in a warm kiss.
I got dragged out when Agatha declared my fingers were going to remain wrinkled for life if I didn’t.
Her point was useless, because as soon as I stepped out she tugged me up to our bathroom right into the shower.
Since moving in it was as if she was determined to have me on every surface available.
Kisses warmed down my skin, hotter than the water.
Her fingers skimmed everywhere. Teasing and touching lightly.
She stopped the water and held my hand, leading me out of the bathroom still dripping.
“Towels are in the bathroom ya know.” I reminded her, even though my eyes trailed along with the water beading down her back.
“Let’s dry off in the sun.” Her naughty smirk gave her away.
A thrill shot up my spine as we both stepped onto the balcony attached to our bedroom. The sun was hot, skin starting to dry the instant it bathed us.
The direct light of it sunk a little self consciousness in my bones. Nowhere to hide any imperfections.
As if sensing it she softened her gaze and tucked me close, a soft kiss pressing to the corner of my mouth.
No words were needed. She could already read my damn mind anyways.
Easy hands guided me down onto one of the cushioned lounge chairs.
“Look at my little, kitten.” Harmlessly she teased shifting to kneel at the end of the chair. “Still getting nervous on me.” Her hands settled on either side of me. That playful smirk hovering above me now as she glided up. “I want you under a spotlight.” She planted a kiss on me, a low sound pressing into it from her. “I want to know where everything is on your body. I want it all in my sight.”
Then her eyes roamed. A rush of warmth filled my entire torso. I couldn’t bat away the sound her wandering eyes tugged out of me if I tried.
I held my breath watching her as she gathered all of me in. It was still a bit difficult for me to believe this woman looked at me like that.
Her eyes held no deception. Only real unobstructed want and love.
“I love watching it happen.” Her eyes moved back to mine. “I don’t even think you realize it happening. Every. Time.” She sighed wistfully and brushed my damp hair back. “The way your body eases into me. Tight muscles going gooey. Relaxing more every second. Giving yourself every time.” Her eyes were glazing over, like they always did whenever she seemed to be half talking to me, half thinking out loud. Then suddenly they refocused on me. “So foolishly in love with you. I see you now. I’m never looking away.”
I pulled her into a kiss this time with a guiding hand on the back of her neck.
Hearing how she sees me.
It was almost too much for my chest to take in.
Just as she described, tension slipped away as I let myself go into her love.
Warm, flexing fingers skimmed down my thighs. Parting them for her to settle in between.
I could almost visualize the aerial view of it. What a bird would see flying by.
Agatha’s mouth pressed down my neck. I cradled her neck carefully.
A dragonfly buzzed up and above the roof. Fluffy white clouds floating by slowly. A distant siren sounded from streets away.
Goosebumps bloomed wherever she touched despite the hot sun.
Every finger and toe curled when her tongue took the first drag.
I was trying my very best to hold it all in. Agatha’s property was vast, but I wasn’t trying to push the limits of how far sound traveled to any neighboring homes.
A stifled groan slipped out. I raked my fingers through her hair and looked down. The sight of her waiting eyes made my stomach flip.
She pulled her head up, a deep chuckle sounding under a sharp eye. “You better open those lungs.”
I rubbed my face and laughed, then with a defiant gaze sealed my lips together.
She scoffed shaking her head. “Brat.”
She won. Obviously.
The challenge only made her double down on her efforts.
If there was anyone close enough by, there would have been no mistaking the name of the woman between my legs.

Agatha could never have prepared for you. Not one bit of you.
That first day she caught a glance of you in that damn window. Done for.
The difference you brought into her life was night and day.
A distinct, undoubted before and after.
Long lonely nights shifted into the warmest embrace that she’d never experienced until you.
She was quite truly on her way to becoming a calloused villain.
Until you.
Days she wished to fill with as much work as possible? Now she pushed it down the ladder just to be around you more often.
No longer a cold empty house that could hear a pin drop at any given time.
Now it was full to a near bursting point with sounds. Your laughter. Music always drifting through speakers in a room. Clanking in the kitchen when she got home after a tiring day in the office.
Constant touch she always craved but never had. Explosive sex that rattled her brain every fucking time.
The smell of the house even changed when you moved in. A clear note of you and your perfume. The smell of coffee that clung to your clothes and hair after working.
You altered her entire life into a bloom she could’ve never dreamed big enough for.
She snuck up on you one summer afternoon. It was a notably chilly day for mid summer. Clouds only letting the sun peek in every now and then.
You didn’t even notice her there as you folded clothes in the laundry room. Humming to a tune she wasn’t familiar with, to no surprise. You were always introducing her to new music.
Another good thing you brought to her life.
Agatha watched as you gently folded her underwear. Like it mattered how it was put away. As if it wasn’t just some piece of fabric that would get wrinkled after a day of use.
Agatha leaned on the doorframe, arms crossed smiling and watching.
It was only a slight startle when you caught a glimpse of her.
You both broke into a slow smile, bodies pulling together for a long hug. Every time you two were close it was inevitable. Constant touch even of the smallest degree.
She peppered a few kisses on your lips before backing away. Promising to meet you in the bedroom to help put clothes away.
Agatha walked the stairs to your bedroom with measured steps.
Her eyes fell to a picture frame on your bedside table. You and her side by side, unmistakably in love.
Cool fingers traced it gently.
God, she’d been waiting for you for her whole life.
She stepped to the closet and pulled a sweater on to fight the chill. Was it from the abnormally cold day, or what lay in the drawer she approached?
The box was almost as beautiful as the ring that sat inside. A vintage, intricate metal box lined with diamonds. Small enough to clutch and hide in her shaking hand.
She sat on the bed, one hand clutching the box, the other clutching the sheets.
You walked in unaware and smiling. Without much thought you sat the laundry basket on a chair near the closet and beelined for Agatha.
Agatha swallowed hard, lips in a thin line. The second you were close enough she wrapped her empty hand around the back of your shirt and tugged you in.
That quizzical head tilt and pinched brow dug a smile from her nervous face.
Right after another glance to the picture frame by the bedside, her clutched hand opened slowly.
Agatha switched the ring box to her other hand and wiped the now sweaty palm on the bed.
You were the only person that could get her to this point of nerves. She opened the box and looked up, finding your already tear filled wide eyes.
“I’ll protect and love you forever now. In this life. The next one. There’s no existence where it isn’t you. I know you don’t like flashy jewelry, we can pick out whatever you like if you don’t like this.” Agatha’s words were wobbly and rushed. “Or you could say no if you wish.”
You shoved her down and followed so sharp it almost knocked the wind out of her. You stole every bit of oxygen she had left anyways with a messy kiss.
“Yes.”
Kisses turned frantic, but slow.
As soon as Agatha slipped that ring on your finger, it was like an electric charge hit her square in the chest.
Any worries or doubt slipping away, and out came that confidence slipping back onto her easily.
The bed wasn’t empty for long the rest of the day, or the next after you called out.
Two souls finally at ease. Vanishing into each other forever.
