As someone who studied film i also don't understand why everybody is filled with such a deep hate of ai but as soon as a production literally does everything without it and builds these damn ships and sets completely real & uses simple film effects, which is amazing craftsmanship btw, y'all keep whining.
I can admit that there are some things they could improve - for example the costumes that look too new, there is a department in costumes responsible for this specifically but production often cuts them off or gives them no budget for money saving reasons, but i would love for the outfits to look more worn out and used. They are at sea ffs. Same with the temu rings taz skylar said he was given by production which he apparently refused to wear so he made his own which is kinda insane dedication and that brings me to the next point : these people learned skills for this show that go from language speaking to fucking developing a new martial arts style.
The reasons the fight scenes look so cool is because they are literally real. They had to slow down the sword scenes because Mackenyu was too FAST for the camera and his stuntmen opponents. The love these people have for this how and the way they show it should be something to be greateful for because it is rare.
It might look to theatrical i admit that, in some way at least. But there are so many art forms that come together here, that is a one of a kind production. People are just irritated because they are too used to marvel like perfect cgi scenes when it comes to comic adaptations but this is such an improvement for anime live adaptations that some people don't realize it because they don't come from that, many people of the audience have never seen the anime or any anime and just give it a try anyways because it IS appealing. Of course you're irritated of this entire thing when you expect different presentation styles you're used to. But that doesn't make what they do any less good. Od course there are ways to improve but everyone is so excited and puts so many days and years of work into this. They are allowed to be goofy because this show IS insane. That's kinda...that's kind of the whole point. They bring it to life. The internet has ruined so many people's perspectives because all it ever does is bring people together, and when people are together they either create something good - like the cast/production does - or they just complain, like some people here do.
