timetravelingclara:
Free rein of their destination? While she knew it was likely an attempt to make her feel more comfortable, she wouldn’t shy away from the offer.
“I want to stay on earth,” she explained slowly. She didn’t want to get his hopes up and she didn’t want to overwhelm herself, either. Besides, there were a million different places she’d never been right there on her own planet and she had 1001 Places to See. “And in this time. Present day. Right now.”
She mulled over destinations in her head as she took another bite of orange chicken, stirring the rice beneath it absentmindedly. The gesture seemed to help her think because a moment later she was gesturing with the chopsticks, speaking up after she’d swallowed her food.
“What about Italy?” She asked. “I’ve always wanted to go to Italy. There’s so much history there and there’s practically a million things to do. We certainly wouldn’t be bored.”
No space travel, no time travel. It might have been nice to attempt something a bit more adventurous, but really he’d been expecting this. He’d said himself that someplace comfortable was a good idea after all, and in no way could he blame her under the circumstances. Truthfully he wasn’t even sure how he would cope with jumping right back out there where she would be in more danger.
“That’s fine, Clara, plenty of amazing things to see right now, right here on this planet,” he replied easily.
He watched her think it over, taking a bite of his own food as she played with hers. He smiled again when she reached a decision. “Italy is a great choice,” he confirmed “Anywhere more specific?”
