the point of my masculinity and male positivity posts are to underline that masculinity and manhood are seen as a threat or in direct opposition to queerness, and that often times in order to be seen as queer you have to be partially or wholly feminine or gender neutral, or express your manhood in a feminine or gender neutral way in order to no longer be threatening, invasive, or a problem.
it is very difficult to exist in queer spaces as a hyper masculine person & a man. you're made to feel like you need to walk a tight rope feeling like you're inherently out of place, as if you existing and being masculine or a man in queer spaces makes others uncomfortable inherently.. just know that when i make positivity posts it is to remind us all that masculinity/manhood and queerness are not opposites and that you do not have to be a feminine man or masc person to be viewed/seen/heard as queer.
chasing men, masculine people, and masculinity out of queer spaces isn't helping anyone currently and won't help anyone down the line. please accept masc enbies, butches, bears, and masculine trans men with the same kindness, love, and passion that you do neutral and feminine people. that's the point when i make these kinds of posts. thank u

"In the instance an employer makes an illegal request for a photograph as part of a job application, you may submit a complaint to the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission." Successful violation fee collections are paid partially to the one who suffered the violation, which in many cases exceeds a year of work at these shit jobs. There's only two weak points to a corporation, and those are in the budget and in the supply chain. Hit them where it hurts.
Fucking word.
Learn your rights!
AUTO REBLOG IN CASE YOU MISSED THIS THE 1ST TIME AROUND.Ā It is important to KNOW YOUR RIGHTS.
listen. There's a whole mentality shift that needs to happen culture wide here, from the schools to the public infrastructure to pet ownership to the justice system
The proper response to your dog doing a natural behavior you dislike (digging/barking/protecting etc) it to give them an appropriate time and place to engage in that behavior
The proper response to skateboarders damaging infrastructure is to build more and better skate parks, or build skate elements into the public infrastructure on purpose.
The proper response to homeless people sleeping on park benches is to build them houses.
you see how there's like, a commonality at play here?
The proper response to a disruption is to address the root of the disruption directly, not somehow attack the disruption itself -
you don't invent a muffler by swinging a bat at the engine noise, you don't relieve your hunger by punching yourself in the stomach, you don't resolve public unrest by sending armed men to control them and you don't prevent homeless people using bus shelters as a roof by removing the bus shelters.
a whole ass shift in a basic mindset, i'm tellin' you. We need it.
"The trannies should be able to piss in whatever toilet they want and change their bodies however they want. Why is it my business if some chick has a dick or a guy has a pie? I'm not a trannie or a fag so I don't care, just give 'em the medicine they need."
"This is an LGBT safe space. Of COURSE I fully support individuals who identify as transgender and their right to self-determination! I just think that transitioning is a very serious choice and should be heavily regulated. And there could be a lot of harm in exposing cis children to such topics, so we should be really careful about when it is appropriate to mention trans issues or have too much trans visibility."
One of the above statements is Problematic and the other is slightly annoying. If we disagree on which is which then working together for a better future is going to get really fucking difficult.
I think this is something young people in particular are confused about. My dad has always had a slightly off color sense of humor, he always feels the need to privately ask me āboy turned girl or girl turned boy?ā if I mention a friend and stress said friendās pronouns, and yet when we had repair work done in the house and the worker was listening to a podcast discussing the evils of transgender people and how to cleanse society, he went out of his way to contact the owner of the business to discuss his disappointment with that workerās conduct and stress the negative effect that could have had if there had been trans kids in our home.
Our allies will never be perfect. They will never use the perfect language or have the perfect politics. But we have to appreciate those allies and meet them where they are, especially if they are willing to learn.
When marriage equality was up for debate, I remember the regulars in the pub going āFuck it, why not, let the poofs be miserable too if they want to!ā
Somehow that sentence includes both a slur and a hetero āmarriage is miseryā joke, and is still more supportive and welcoming than the well-spoken people who wanted to have āa civilised debateā.Ā
#sentiment means more than correct language
how do conservatives think talking to children works? if a four year old came up to me and said āiām a cat!!ā i would say āreally? what makes you a cat?ā and theyād say some shit like āi have claws >:)ā and iād be like āoh wow, you do have claws. but wait, i thought cats had pointed ears!ā and theyād say āthey DO!!!ā and then iād pull up a picture of an elf and ask āis THIS a cat?ā and theyād yell āNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOā
u wouldnāt say āfucking hell, Emily, get it together. this is the real worldā

If there was a way to run SUPER MEGA AD BLOCKER on this website I fucking would
āPlease oh please open up your computer to a porn virus! If you donāt youāre evil!ā
Freeloader Cominā through!
We didnāt start this war internet users have with ads - We might have moaned about banner ads, but it was only when they started making noises when we might be listening to music or a podcast or whatever, causing two sound sorces at once, that we started trying to block ads universally rather than just a specific type of ad (pop ups).
And since then ads have gotten worse - Actual malware rather than merely breaking one of the fundamental sins of web design - though shalt not autoplay anything with sound. And the more aggressive a website is with āplease turn off adblockā the less I trust it to bother to vet ads and advertisers to make sure theyāre not installing malware.
Not to mention that the idea that avoiding ads is āfreeloadingā is hilariously backward. Advertisement is a transaction between the platform and the advertiser, the user has no obligation to provide the views/clicks the platform has promised. Using an adblocker isnāt freeloading in the same way that leaving the room to get a snack during a commercial break isnāt cheating the tv network.
Ok yāall, I work as a web developer and Iām here to tell you that you are 100% right and that itās shit. SO Iām going to tell you how to get around websites that block you from using their website if youāre using an adblocker.Ā
Every website uses a language called JavaScript; long story short itās a website language that allows developers to do the crazy shit you see on websites. Now the easiest thing to do is to disable JavaScript to stop them from knowing you have an adblocker:
Oh no! Iām blocked from viewing the website. It would be a terrible shame if I were able to right click and select theĀ āinspectā feature
Click the three dots in the top right and open theĀ āSettingsā Menu
And then scrolled down toĀ āDebuggerā and checked theĀ āDisable Javascript Optionā
And then just refreshed the page

sometimes walking down the street is almost too much for me. there are children laughing and moms watching them clinging to this fleeting moment and elderly women telling each other to take it easy and praying they will both be gentle to themselves and teenagers going out and learning who they are and young couples looking for their first home together and older couples holding hands leaving what will be their last home together. the world is full of love and all of it is precious. the world is full of people and all of them are precious. what a beautiful thing it is to be a person
