My old boss and new boss don’t speak native English so their grammar preferences read very odd sometimes—or at least odd to me. So I do the number in parentheses thing for quantities. They insist on writing out “Quantity one” or “Qty five” so I write it out and SAY it out loud thusly:

Write: Five (5) pcs

Say: Five, COUNT ‘EM FIVE, pieces…
