A little trip down memory lane. This is a small fight sequence I story boarded between Su and Kuvira. It’s short but packs a punch. Love the backstory here between these two as it added a ton to the stakes of this battle. I must admit I do miss staging these fights. Joaquim Dos Santos has left a long trail of incredible and memorable action scenes in his wake, and it would be tough to say which one was his “best,” or even which one is my favorite. But if I had to try, this fight would easily be up there near the top of that list. The dynamics, timing, flow, and clarity of this sequence are all top-notch. It’s no mystery that when Mike and I got the opportunity to make Korra, the first person we turned to was Joaquim.

This painting focuses on species that most of us appreciate for being beautiful or cute, but that don’t merit special conservation considerations because their populations are stable or even high enough to be a nuisance. Most animals fit into this level of prioritization, living and dying in makeshift habitats on whatever land we have least use for, amid our pollution and highways and homes and collapsing ecosystems and discarded things, their situation never quite dire enough for us to feel it’s worth the trouble of fixing.

She has been banished from her kingdom and bound to a mortal body by her sister, who rose to power by human sacrifices. She now leads an army of cannibal water spirits who eat men. Sometimes they have orgies. They dismembered a traitor and keep her head on a Popsicle stick as a warning to others. Aurora can turn into a wolf and uses battle magic to paralyze her enemies. The king of the stuffed animals developed rabies and she had to slay him to save his people, but they do not understand that it was an act of mercy and kindness and are sending assassins after her for regicide. This is Aurora’s soulmate, Crystal, but her soul is trapped in a gemstone while an evil spirit pilots her body and attempts to murder her friends.”

These two are singing “O magnum mysterium” by Tomas Luis De Victoria! It’s a very pretty piece from the renaissance that has a lot of different voice parts singing totally different melodies that mesh well together. I sung tenor for a song of his as well. It sounds ethereal in cathedrals and bathrooms alike my opinion. Its the room’s ability to bounce sound and make it resonate, giving it it’s “mermaid siren” like quality. It sounds great. Congratulations, you both! Sounds very pretty and seems like a fun time to clean with things like that.
