you’ve just finished clearing out a hilichurl camp - it was easy work, the rain made your electro vision particularly powerful - and you’re heading back to the knights’ headquarters. rain slicks the road with mud, your boots slip and your clothes are soaked, but it’s quiet out. the skies are dark with an oncoming storm. something tugs inside your chest; you can feel the lightning building in the air, it fizzes on your tongue like champagne or the numbing spices in liyuen cuisine.

the guards at mondstadt’s gates greet you, tucked back under the eaves of the guard towers so as to avoid the rain. you wave back - it barely qualifies as a wave, just a hesitant hand raise as you glance up and then train your gaze back on the muddy ground. water runs between the cobblestones of the street. you track it with your eyes; you don’t need to look up to get back to headquarters, back to kaeya.

kaeya is the kind of person who is unreasonably good at formal dancing. he’s also the kind of person to approach you and hold his hand out, say something stupidly cheesy, and then lead you onto the dance floor, spin you, hold you close against him, take your joined hands and place them against his cheek for a moment, he’d talk quietly in the small space between you, make it feel like your own private world.

planning utc!!

i think it’s rather “obvious/heavy-handed” but i’d like a winter wedding. i’d pick a dry location to avoid the rain and so that the snow is light and fluffy rather than wetter and more likely to turn to slush. i live in an area with lots of pine, fir, and cedar trees and i really love the way they look when snow has freshly fallen and the morning sunlight is glinting off them. perhaps a january wedding, february seems a bit too on-the-nose, even for kaeya, and december will be terribly busy anyways preparing for jultid. february is also often when there’s new year celebrations, so that would be too busy as well.

we’d decorate with white and green, either silver or copper accents, i like the idea of snow berries (they grow where i live) and deep green foliage, not a lot of flowers, but perhaps some small white ones or a few cecilias. anemone flowers would also be lovely, since their black centers can appear to be a deep blue.

kaeya is the extravagant one between the two of us (?). as much as the wedding would traditionally be “about” me, i’m happy to let him choose whatever he would like to wear and then base my outfit off of his. that being said, i’d like something with a higher collar at the neck and straight shoulders, potentially with a open back, especially because kaeya is quite fond of resting his hand there. other than that i don’t really have any specific things i want involving the cut of the dress, color, gown/train, veil, jewelry, etc.

for the food, wintermelon soup would be wonderful, but for tradition and also because they are my favorites, roast duck as well as some type of fish will be necessary for luck. cake? i’m not picky at all when it comes to food tbh and much less cake, i think pretty much every flavor is good? but, if i need to choose, elderflower, blackberry, and lemon is a good combo that’s light enough that you won’t feel like you’re dying from eating it after a wedding banquet. no, i will not be smearing cake on kaeya’s face <3 also i’m not really partial to alcohol, so kaeya is free to handle that without my input because… i know nothing except that i’ve tried a variety of types and none of them appeal to me rip

music — i’d like to go over this with kaeya, obviously, but i have a couple songs in mind. one that i would love for dancing is evergreen by f.n. it’s sweet and it fits the theme, as well as kaeya and i. the night we met by lord huron or for lovers by lamp would also be nice <3 starlight by herd is another favorite of mine.

obviously we’d plan all this together, i just don’t have his input here ajjs

and of course kaeya wouldn’t like it if i did that, he’s always draping himself across my desk and complaining that i’m doing boring things for so long. i usually have to tell him he’s going to crush my laptop or something before he moves, and then he just hangs off the back of the chair with his hands on my shoulders and his stupidly tall frame hovering over me, sometimes he rests his chin on my head. he’s the best work and studying annoyance anyone could ask for <3
