I feel like music is too simple nowadays. Musicians can get away with singing the same note for one word or multiple words and that’s great. Simplicity is a great thing. It sounds good. It makes them money. But complicated music is fun too. It’s fun to write a short theme and then compose 50 variations on top of that. It’s fun to write a fugue on two different subjects. It’s fun to write a double function form sonata, and hell even a regular one. It’s fun to write a rondo.

Simplicity is a great thing, but so is complicated shit. And I just wish musicians would challenge themselves more to do things like this.
