Guilds of Ravnica Flavor Spotlight: Cosmotronic Wave

Flavor text: “This sort of innovation occurs when you set out to improve an electric tea kettle and misplace a decimal.”

Let’s take a closer look at the art by Titus Lunter:

Here we see an Izzet mage doing what an Izzet mage does: making things happen by accident. The hilarious flavor text suggests that the ability to create a Cosmotronic wave which can both injure and incapacitate opponents was discovered…by happenstance. This is pretty typical with the Izzet. They’re tinkerers and sometimes even mad scientists. And what was simply an effort to make a better tea kettle became a discovery of weaponized energy. The Izzet are usually quite genius, particularly their Parun Niv-Mizzet. But it’s funny how so much of what they discover results from them blowing things up accidentally. This recklessness defines the Izzet and is part of what makes them so fun to see in action on art and fun to play with their cards. So keep Izzet-ing Izzet guilders! Keep finding fun ways for us to blow things up…even if you didn’t mean to.

Isn’t it Weird...

I don’t know why no one else has mentioned this, but I’m a little off put by the fact that the Izzet League doesn’t have a single Weird creature in the block set Guilds of Ravnica. Weirds are iconic to the Izzet and it is only the Izzet that make and utilize them. We have Elementals and strange mechanical but not artifact creature Cyclops. But. No. Weirds. EXPLAIN WIZARDS!!! Has Weird been replaced by the Elemental creature type?

Because it is everything I have some legendaries will be more than a few bucks and if you’re interested in a Yeencon based around them the price we’d negotiate will be above the base $40. Because this list encompasses so many different strategies I might not have the support for a specific tribe onhand. If something catches your eye message me and we can talk it over.

Yeen is fulfilling the prophecy and becoming a trader!

Hello everyone and welcome! People have been interested in buying decks of my own construction and I would love to make decks for people!

How does it work, Yeen?

There are three options for you to pick from if you want a deck from me!

THE LIST: Coming in at $5, with The List I sit down with you to draft up a list for your dream deck making three rounds of edits for you. You can throw cards you want added to it. I do all the dard searching and synergy building. Want Kangee birds? I gotchu. Want a revamped Keranos? Also gotchu. The finished product is a tappedout.com list for your own use.

BUILD ME A YEENCON: At $40 I build you a deck from scratch from my own collection. Its mostly a surprise, I can supply a list of commanders to choose from. Its also going to be a janky deck made for fun like the last 10 deck giveaway I had. The cost here is to make up for cards leaving my collection so I can buy more to replace them and continue making Yeencons, as well as for my time assembling them and looking for internal strategies and visiting different area card shops. These are budget builds made for fun play over competitive play.

BUILD MY YEENEST DECK: Coming in at Cost+35, in this option we draft a list together on tappedout moving through three rounds of edits. Cost will include the price of the deck, shipping of cards, and shipping for the deck, and will be discussed in each round of edits, when the deck is purchased, and when the deck is shipped to you. The $35 is my commission fee to sit down with you and plan and buy and ship your Yeenest deck to you.

MOM I WANT THAT ONE: Yeencons and Yeenest decks will get posted online on my tappedout (link to come). The website will be like a “stall” for Yeen’s wares. If you like a build, you can order it from me for cost+15. Cost will be discussed at each stage. I also don’t have any ownership over the lists I post there, so if you’d rather just build the deck on your own please do! The decks will be posted there for your own inspiration and fun!

I’ll be posting the tappedout link as I can today, and I’ll be uploading builds I’ve made to it for anyone’s perusal. All lists on tappedout will be available under Mom I Want That One for purchase. Kaladesh returns

Back when Kaladesh first came out, I declared that Inventor’s Apprentice was the most Hindu art in the whole set. Her pose, offering her invention to the gods like an aarti, the embroidery on her shawl and sari, the whole thing.

But then Commander 2018 previews came out, and Ryan Pancoast, who painted the incredible Inventor, decided that he wasn’t done, and that there was more Hindu to be had. So he brought us Saheeli the Gifted, and boy, is there a lot to break down here.
