every time i am presented with such a crap & humiliation, i am always reminded that i am bullshit, stupid, spoiled brat & an awesome failure.
kick some more ass. pained but i'm gonna hit it.
#imaweirdo #imafreak dreamt a dead woman lying on her stomach was passed by above my head. i can see her as she was lying on a glass or something transparent. i don't recognize her but i recognize some of the people around. after few days we heard that a close relative passed away. it could have been her in my dreams as the people i recognized were related to us. i only learned lately that she was actually lying on her stomach when found. tnx to this dream catcher photo fr ilovethispic.com
strange. 2 different vivid dreams of 2 consecutive nights happened after 3 or 4 days. not exactly how in my dreams but very relatable ~ things, events and people. i realized 2 days after it happened after being awaken by something telling me it happened. i'm getting #weirder wtf

Family Road Trip: Manila to Cebu
Blogging relive memories.
It’s almost a year and I am trying to remember as much as I can the 4-day road trip we had on October 2013. The idea started when I had a scheduled trip to Manila in July of 2013. My father asked if we can drive a car back to Cebu. Who would say no for an extraordinary adventure?
My flight to Manila, in Mandaluyong specifically, our hometown, was in July to personally take care of business documents. My husband travelled with me to which we thought would be just a one-week to a two-week vacation. I didn’t expect our return to Cebu would take pending until October. We were kind of worried already because our kids were left in Cebu but leaving unfinished papers wasn’t a good idea at the time. The weather also prevented us from taking flights or driving west.
By the way, I am speaking about the trip, right? My father bought back the car he sold to a relative about 10 years ago. Yes, we were driving an old rusty car. The car wasn’t in good condition when we picked it up. In less than an hour after getting the car from Binangonan, the radiator exploded in Ortigas ~ i’m not really sure what happened but I think there were some wiring issues ~ and for this we were towed for P2500.00. After the first repair, we got stucked in Pandacan because of failed ignition coil which has to be replaced. To make the car running, all other parts were repaired and replaced including aircon, wirings and tires.
No one was confident about driving the car into unfamiliar terrain up to more than 1000km road trip. In case of trouble, we thought, if buses and other vehicles pass the same road, then auto shops are available but probably avoid weekends and holidays. We’ve also gone to Naga before and we saw buses from the south with “Cubao” signage. We had to gain confidence to take this adventure! Anyways, if anyhow, buses are available; airports too, are available in Naga, Legazpi and Tacloban, so no worries about getting to Cebu. If the car fails, which we hope wouldn’t and shouldn’t, then we just have to think where to leave it safe. LOL
After more than a month of not experiencing trouble with the car, we decided to finally drive it home ~ a once in a lifetime adventure to grab!
Aside from car repair preparation, I also prepared itineraries to see interesting places along the way. I originally prepared a 5-day road trip but my husband didn’t agree, so 4 days! I checked places online, terrain from googlemap, possible routes to take, accommodation for night stay, and all other things to consider. I had to be very resourceful and careful about the planning because we were touring with our two kids.
I learned the kids were having their exams on October 10 & 11. Barangay election was approaching so I thought they’ll probably have early sembreak which wasn’t announced yet. Examination days could be moved but I already purchased their airline tickets to Manila so whether or not, they were coming with us. I took a flight to Cebu to get the kids in the morning of October 11 and immediately flew back to Manila that night. Weather in Cebu was fair but in Manila it had been raining since.
October 11 was Friday; October 14 ~ no classes in Manila because of INC-related celebration but there were classes in Cebu so I thought they’d be absent that day; on Oct 15 ~ no classes nationwide because of Eid’l Adha but on the same day Bohol was moved by 7.2 magnitude earthquake. Therefore classes in affected areas including Cebu were suspended until November. I wouldn’t say we were blessed because too many were disastered. But we were thankful I was able to get the kids four days before it happened. It wouldn’t be too comforting if our kids were in Cebu and we were in Manila during the strong earthquake. If nothing like that happened, the kids would be absent from school for 1 to 2 more weeks. The kids spent 3 weeks vacation in Manila, enough to have fun activities, like going to Star City. Take note, there is no noting amusement park in Cebu; not to mention the adventure parks. Then we had our trip scheduled during Barangay Election, Monday, October 28, when travelling voters had gone to their provinces already. Also very timely for a 4-day travel so as not to coincide with the holidays on Oct 31 ~ when too many commuters are in major ports and terminals.
Let the 4-day Road Trip Begin!
All week we were hoping for good weather because we were about to pass western section of the country.
DAY 1 We left at roughly 630 am in Mandaluyong. My husband was driving, me at the passenger’s seat, our son and daughter at the back with car compartment full. Ready-to-grab things that we’ll be needing during the trip were placed inside the car, like clothes, toiletries and other necessities; also to mention things no longer fit at the back. We had our breakfast in NLEX. We drove straight to Star Tollway (StarLEX) or CALABARZON Expressway exiting Ibaan, Batangas. We didn’t have to get here but we missed the San Pablo exit and instead of driving back, we decided to take the road to inner Batangas. GPS was helpful when we were inside Batangas and finding our way out to Tiaong, Quezon was fast. I’ve been to Quezon Province before but I don’t remember where exactly.
We passed by: Tiaong, Candelaria, Sariaya, Pagbilao, getting to Pan-Philippine Hi-way or Maharlika Hiway. This highway extends up to Mindanao. The places offer different sights, relaxing seaview, mountain range and busy markets. Our 2nd stop was in Quezon National Park in Atimonan, Quezon. The park is a protected landscape comprising several municipalities of Quezon. From wikipedia, the park is situated in one part of the Sierra Madre mountain range. I must have missed this part, there were two roads to choose and we actually took the shorter and less travelled old zigzag road or the bitukang manok that led us to the park. The road to the park was deep and steep. Traffic aides were there guiding the traffic as they go up and down the mountain. It’s also cold inside the park. You’ll be surrounded by big trees and it felt like Baguio except for pine trees. If you have more time, you can enjoy the activities like trekking and caving. The park has clean rest rooms, too ~ don’t forget to give donations when you use them for your own travel comfort. The other road to choose is the diversion road or the new zigzag road, where public transportation and most vehicles pass by. Just as you get out of the park and protective mountain, you will have the sight of the sea, another relaxing view.
Quezon isn’t finished yet. From Atimonan, we drove downward to Gumaca where we had our 3PM snacks at MCDonalds. We didn’t stay long to avoid driving at night. We were sure what road to take until we reached the forking road somewhere in Calauag ~ the signage to the right pointed to Sipocot/Naga and the other, to Daet. We were supposed to spend the night in Bagasbas so we took Daet. I could still remember how we hated the zigzag road to get out of Sta. Elena. It was worst than the bitukang manok. The zigzag road was crazy. We weren’t supposed to drive at night but this road didn’t make driving easy. Darkness fell and no lights on the road. All houses, signages and landmarks looked the same. It felt like the road doesn’t seem to end and felt like no way out. We wanted to stop and spend the night somewhere there but there was no way to stop on either side. Much more because there was no place to stay. We kept on driving as we see on the map it was still a long way to go. We were so happy to see Labo on the road, seemed straighten now with few curvy roads, until we reached municipality of Daet at 8pm. Thank god the kids were sleeping, they didn’t experience all that.
Daet was small but the map doesn’t show clear path to Bagasbas so we tried asking until we reached the beach. During travel I normally make prior reservation for accommodation but it was not applicable this time. We never know where actually we’d be stopping. Bagasbas Beach isn’t too big and not much tourist during this season so we were able to find a nice stay right away. It was night time so we didn’t have to find many options, we only need to rest and find a safer place to park the car. BTW, why in Bagasbas, Daet, Camarines Norte? I first heard about the place on TV featuring Kite Boarding and surfing. I wanted the kids to see some exciting activities in the beach. After a long ride, it is always nice to sleep and wake up the following day hearing the waves from the sea, and then prepare for another long ride.
Day 2 The following morning I was awaken by my mobile phone’s alarm at 6am. I left it charging under the TV wall mount. The room was big enough for us and the bathroom could actually be another single room. I forgot I don’t own the place, so unfamiliar, eyes still closed, walked 12-15 steps, I bumped on the eye-level TV wall mount. It was so nice for a road trip haha. I almost passed out and I couldn’t breath and shout. I hurriedly went back to bed and woke my husband up. So stupid, it left me black-eyed till we got to Cebu. Photos showed the marks. Even so, nothing could ruin such a beautiful holiday. Few photos were taken, short sight-seeing and we were good to go.
On the 2nd day we started in Daet town proper ~ we were given instructions to take shortcut to get to the highway. We passed by another clean, beautiful, protected Bicol National Park. We stopped by to take photos and hubby drove slow, “cruising”, so we can enjoy the beautiful place.
We reached Sipocot ~ the worst road condition in Bicol Region (during this travel) ~ don’t mention the zigzag road because they’re always worst. It was worst because it felt bumpy and wavy due to spot holes on the road.
We left Daet at 830am and reached Naga at 1130am. The first time we went to Naga was by plane. I never thought I’d came back to this place again. We had lunch in SM Naga and spent some time in CWC to let the kids see another extreme adventure, which is wakeboarding. It was a short stay but they really enjoyed the place, wakeboarders jumping and doing the tricks.
Hubby was anxious to get to Sorsogon on the same afternoon driving straight from Naga. I told him it was not possible also because we still had to stop by Legazpi. Probably he was too tired driving already and wanted to get home fast. Well we reached Daraga, Albay at 7pm after more than 3-hr drive. The road to Legazpi was smooth and well-lit. I initially thought of staying somewhere in Legazpi to experience Embarkadero at night but hubby was so reluctant to proceed as he thought it was still far. I couldn’t force the driver. He has the tendency of becoming KJ at times. Anyways, we stayed at the pension house by the road. The family room was big but it was smelling old.
Day 3 We woke up before 6am the following day and I was careful not to bump on anything this time. We were all surprised that Mayon Volcano was actually visible from our terrace on either side. It was so beautiful ~ so amazing, heart captivating, magical, and anything else, so mesmerizing (whatever!) Mayon Volcano is beautiful! No clouds hiding it, purely Mayon Volcano with some “smoke” on top.
By 7am, we were in Cagsawa Ruins, then went to Lignon Hills and Embarkadero and drove back to the Avia Inn. Legazpi tour was the best part of the trip.
After touring Legazpi, at aroud 11am, we head to Matnog, Sorsogon, where we will end our Luzon road trip and transfer to Visayas. The drive was smooth and fast. We arrived at the wharf at 230pm. There was no need to reserve tickets. Every hour, a barge leave to Allen, Leyte. The sea travel took only 45 minutes. It was a short trip but the waves were drastic. It wasn’t such a good 1st-time experienced for the kids because we still had to take another 4-hr sea travel from Leyte to Cebu.
We reached the island of Leyte at 430 pm. It was the first time we ever get to this place. We were going eastward. The road was very different from Bicol. We were heading to Isabel, Leyte to get to the wharf that will lead us to Cebu. Isabel is about 12hrs from Allen. It was late already and we had to hurry to get to a town where we can spend the night. There isn’t much available information on the internet about these places so we were very clueless. GPS was still working but the map doesn’t show any signs, street names and establishments. Also in most parts, no phone signal and no internet connection.
We drove until we reached a small commercial town, Calbayog. It was 830pm already and we had few minutes left before the stores close. In less than 5minutes we were able to find our home for the night. We went out to eat and bought some food and things we’ll be needing in the next few hours.

Road Trip ~ DAY 4 will post soon :)
how misadventures can be so proud to remember!
once in a while i would still remember going to an audition with my college friend, how it turned out and affects my whole life.
let me tell you how it started.
i and aileen were blockmates in college. she likes singing, in fact, she joined a choir when she moved to vienna. one day she was so excited to share the upcoming audition for a scholarship in music lesson in one of the prestigious music schools in the metro. she initially asked me to come with her because she wasn’t familiar with the place and eventually asked me to join. she said she really wanted to audition but too shy and will only sing if i’d sing as well.
i was at first hesitant because i don’t sing especially in front of other people. i can sing at home, of course, but not if there are visitors around. i’m the type of person who decides fast so not much pushing and pulling, i said, “yes”.
i thought it was going to be fun. i wanted to try it. i know i’ll be a “little” humiliated because “I DON’T SING!” I suck in singing but I thought that would be fine. and so yes, I Joined.
trying out new things and embarrassment aren’t new to me. I don’t really mind because I believe people wouldn’t remember. maybe they’ll laugh at me or criticize me and I wouldn’t mind at all. I only think of getting into the thrill, the fun and the adventure in trying out different things.
my younger sister jake sings well. she had singing lesson so she knows better. i asked for her help and she had me the Air Supply song, “Someone Who Believes in You.” Oww, really huh, Air Supply whew!
I memorized the song in less than 24hrs. i'm really bad with song timing. but still i brought the Air Supply tape to the audition. i was ready for humiliation.
the requirement was to bring a minus one tape but i brought a multiplex. for those who doesn’t know, in minus-one, you can only hear the instruments playing and you’ll sing to it; while in multiplex, you can hear the singer, you can adjust its volume so hear the instrumental louder or simply in karaoke’s auto, mono r or mono l.
the audition started. i realized auditionees were champions from singing contests. they were indeed very good in singing. i couldn’t remember getting intimidated; i only remember my fear was choking me. and then finally it was my turn and hoping this will be over soon. i went up the stage and handed in the tape. i was so scared but i opened my mouth and tried singing.
for others who performed before me, there were short interviews and then while they were singing they’d be asked to stop by the organizer saying, “Ok, thank you.”
When it was my turn to sing, I was also hoping to hear that “thank you, next please.” But oh no! This guy stood up and sang with me. He started waving his hand like a conductor as if helping me to catch up with the instruments. I couldn't comprehend what he was trying to do but of course I went on singing following his command. Aww! I don’t remember if he had me finished the song or had me stopped in the middle. I was overly terrified. Afterwards, he asked if i can dance and asked me to act. Fortunately, we recently had a stage play and i could still remember my lines. I started with the loud angry voice shouting, “If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t be begging for my life…. blah blah blah.”
I was terribly humiliated to notice anyone's reaction. I swear to never again sing in front of other people. it was traumatizing. do you have at least an idea how i felt that moment? not again but yes it was fun.
but hey, it wasn’t over yet. we had to stay to wait who is moving to the next round. WE DID IT! haha with too much disbelief, really? for real! no one failed. i thought maybe they don’t kill auditionees on the 1st round. but never again, i am not coming to the next round. enough with humiliation already, i’ve tried it.
few years later I met a girl at work, anne. we became friends, too. we went to a ktv bar and she had a beautiful voice. she mentioned she went to the same audition that same year. i was surprised she didn’t make the 1st round. and she couldn’t believed what happened to me in that audition. she asked why they let me proceed but i have no idea. i said, they probably considered my efforts. and so yeah, what about hers :) (her effort). who knows, right? anne doesn’t believe i “don’t/can’t” sing & told me that the guy from the music school will not do what he did if there was nothing. she said he could have just let me stop singing. and yes, she had a point.
confidence in singing is nowhere close. i was only 17 or 18. i met anne when i was 26. and now i’m at 33. i will never forget it, everything is vivid as if it recently happened. i just can’t help laughing about it. it was one of the most embarrassing moment i had in my life. yes, i conquered my fear and they didn’t let me fail. i achieved my goal that day. it was fun, thrilling, careless, crazy misadventure.
me & hubby convo
me & hubby yesterday afternoon--- deyb: alis na ko. bili na rin ako pagkain bka la tau makain mamya. (ngarag!) me: kainin kita. (serious) deyb: ang bastos! (laughing) me: huh? Oslob Whale Shark Watching
Cebu is one of the most visited places in the Philippines and it is one of the interesting reasons why we considered living here.
We started living here in 2012. Though we some time stay in Manila, we are here most time of the year. And for almost 2 years now, I still haven’t seen much what the place has to offer. I love great outdoor adventures and I am still surprised what else is available out here.
This time we headed south of Cebu, approximately 3-hour drive from the City. My sister who also decided to create a living here in Cebu for 1 year now, was having a visitor from Manila, a friend whom she had to roam around the beautiful places in her current locale. One of the itineraries was visiting Oslob and experience swimming with the butanding.
And on March 16, 2014, despite the rainy weather, we drove south to the Municipality of Oslob. We left at 330am in Liloan, north of Cebu, where we are currently staying and waited for our companions at J Center Mall, until 5am. The meet up was supposedly 4am, it doesn’t take a long drive from Liloan to Mandaue, only about 10-15mins at this hour; it was actually them who arrived an hour late.
*source: wikipedia
Safety first. We couldn’t drive fast because it was raining. So even if we had our own ride, it took us 3 hours to get to the Whale Shark Briefing Center in Tan-awan, Oslob. Tan-awan is 20-30 minutes away from the town proper. We didn’t have prior arrangement with any resorts so we headed straight to the briefing center where all visitors for this activity would actually go. It is along the road, you wouldn’t get lost, just read the signs and you’ll get there. It is where the buses going to Santander/Dumaguete would pass by. It is only 1 ride from the Cebu City South Bus Terminal. Bus Fare is 150-155/head/one way.
The briefing center starts at 6am until 12nn. It is first come, first served basis. Ask your resort if they can arrange viewing without the need to wait. But here in the briefing center, the process would be: 1) List + Fee P300 watching only/on the boat (with life vest), P500 swimming/snorkeling (with life vest & gears) 2. briefing, where rules of do’s and dont’s are introduced 3) get your life jackets and snorkels 4) waiting time 5) option to rent an underwater camera P500, CD burn (P50), free transfer of photos to 1 memory card.
Though the day started raining, the weather this time was perfect. We arrived and parked at exactly 750am and had our chance to hop on the boat at 845am. The boat carries maximum of 6 persons per trip; in our case, we were 5 + 3 boatmen, who paddled with all their strength against the huge waves. We looked at the tourists coming back to the shore and we were so baffled by the looks on their faces. They looked sad and lifeless —- very opposite to our probably overly excited faces. You couldn’t take away the smiles on our faces waiting for our turn.
The viewing/snorkeling/swimming area is not far from the shore. A good swimmer can actually get to the area just by swimming, minus the 2-3 feet waves. I’m not good in distances but I think it is less than 1 kilometer from the shoreline. All the boats were lined up like rows for viewing at one side, tied their boats in a rope that sets the limit; went back and forth the shore for the excited waiting spectators. By the way, the activity is only for 30 minutes. Swim all you can; picture all you can; struggle the waves with all your strength —- all in 30 minutes, then you will ride back to shore.
We are not good swimmers so we put on our life jackets. You can swim very closely with the whale sharks but don’t be tempted to touch them; it’s a no, no — just wait for them to rub their body at you so you’ll have the chance to actually feel their skin :) no kidding, it could actually happen. There are separate boats who feed the whale sharks that served as guide as to where this butanding is swimming. Of course, the whale shark follows the food as to where it leads. So as it is swimming near you, its body is so huge, about 7 feet, i think, would rub against you in the water & its skin so rough and thick :))) but don’t be scared, it won’t harm. Don’t panic!
During our visit, the waves were huge. I don’t know if it was always like that. Since it was wavy, we couldn’t go far from the boat. The waves would pushed us far away and swimming against it with the life jackets on was such a struggle. Anyway, one of the enjoyable part was taking photos. Since we had our life jackets, the boat man would push us underwater to get a chance to pose with the gentle giants. The other boat man took the shots = photographer. Take off the jackets if you’re a good swimmer so you can have better-looking photos.
After all these exciting encounters, we headed back to the shore. And now we fully understood, without a doubt, that 30-minute activity was more than enough to consume our energy. Dealing with the waves was so tiresome. I had to hold on to the boat and when taken away by the waves, I would have to swim back or grabbed the rope to get to the boat faster. It made us so hungry! I felt like I haven’t eaten for days.
After we returned the camera, while waiting for our photos, we had our carbo intake right away. We needed the energy back. We didn’t bring food but there are eateries available together with the souvenir stores at the beach front, just beside the briefing center. Prices are reasonable and affordable, like eating in your local carinderia. Food are tasty, too.
After these, we went to the nearby resort, the Brumini Beach Resort, referred by one of the locals we chatted with. We transferred our car to the resort and paid P10/head (includes parking, shower, swimming). We didn’t stay long because we had to climb uphill to see the Tumalog Falls in the nearby barangay. No need to shower and change, continue swimming just 30 minutes after.
It was a brief but enjoyable adventure. I never thought I’d swim with anything that big creature around. I wasn’t scared but too happy to see them. I know there are issues about this attraction but save your criticism. There are scientists who studied their behavior and food requirement. I am not an expert so I can’t talk about this matter. They are feeding them with brine shrimp or baby shrimp, their natural food. The local lady said whale sharks come in the morning, because it’s their kitchen and it’s where they eat, and usually at noon time, they are gone.
Activity: ~ Whale-Shark Watching/Snorkeling Where: ~ Oslob, Cebu (briefing center, no need for reservation) How to Get There: ~ by bus, in South Bus Terminal, N. Bacalso Ave., ask a taxi driver to take you there. ~ by car, follow the south road N. Bacalso Ave., straight to Oslob, southeast. Don’t turn right in Carcar as it would take you southwest. Where to Stay: ~ there are several resorts available Expenses: car (15L gasoline) includes side trip P500/head whale shark watching/snorkeling P60++/head food P550 underwater camera rental + CD data transfer P10/head entrance fee Brumini Resort
Additional info: ~ Oslob is a municipality, 1 hour away from Dumaguete City. The town of Santander, after Oslob is where you would take a boat to get to Negros. There are other interesting places to see in Oslob. The famous resort of Blue Water is just 15 minutes away. Arrange with the resort or ask a boat man in Tan-awan to take you to the sand bar. They also have the Heritage Park in the town proper. Also experience the, “beach in the morning; waterfalls in the afternoon” adventure. After whale shark watching, visit the Tumalog Falls and be amazed by the rain-like drop of water. It is very important to note that people we encountered were friendly and accommodating~ from the briefing center, habal-habal drivers, camera rental service providers. I’m not a picky person but here in Cebu, it’s very seldom you would find at least good customer service so it is always interesting to note accommodating people I meet (speaking in general and exclude tourists places); find this habitual attitude in any shops, extending from retail to service outlets :( I always remember where good food is and where good people are :D
