Sticks & Stones {Lu & Anum}Sept. 26th Morning
Lu removed the tiny crystal from his friend’s hand noting the weight as his fingers swept over the smooth twist and turns of it. The burnt orange color was appealing to him. Looking down at him he nodded. “Yeah, I think she’ll like this, or maybe not. Well at the very least she’ll appreciate the sentiment.” His hand closed around the small rock and he smiled at Anum. “So what’s the going price for a three thousand year old crystal?” He rested his eyes back on jackal and exhaled. Lu realized he had missed the Carnival and the hunter’s surprise. There seemed to be a lot of conflict as of late period. Lu wondered if the subtle blips of chaos were a crescendo to what Anum prophesied. When Lu asked about his friend’s happiness the response was even dimmer then what he would’ve assumed. Even the smiled he offered was forced. Exhaling deeply the wolf didn’t do much to hide his disappointment as his face fell into a grimace. It greatly upset him that Anum wasn’t happy, and he was going to have to do his best to alleviate the situation. Lu felt responsible for the others lack of acceptance amongst the pack, and he just needed some insight on how he could help to change the circumstance. However, before he could even ask Anum fired off a question that caused Lu’s jaw to drop. Quickly he closed it and tilted his head drawing his lips tightly against one another. Lu may have taken longer to respond only because that single question was loaded with potential land mines, and if Lu missed stepped he might just set one off. “There is very little I can change about Oz’s alpha position,” he paused. “It’s easier to find fault in others. My thoughts on the matter mean very little. The packs happiness is paramount.” His eyebrows knitted together for a moment as he considered he may have said too much in his attempt to say very little. The wolf had always kept his misgivings and contempt for his leader to himself, however, he assumed Anum was privy to his true feelings. Questions like that only solidified the assumption. The subject matter only stirred doubt over his past decision to forfeit the role of pack leader, which as time went only became greater. In the past he would’ve simply dropped a ‘no’ to such a question, however something was beginning to manifest.
Anum knew before he'd opened his mouth that the question would upset his friend. He shouldn't have asked it, but his internal defenses acted before he could process all the information. He nodded solemnly as his friend put an end to the subject and lowered his head slightly. "I understand." Looking back at the amber in his his friend's hand, he back up at Lu. "Well, normally it should be about 600 dollars, but I want you to have it as a gift, for the Witch." he said quietly, but firmly, with a tone that clearly conveyed that he wouldn't take "no" for an answer. He realized that he had overstepped his place, something that an Omega like himself wasn't supposed to do. While Lu wasn't the Pack leader, he was still a Pack member, and as such, Anum should have known his place. Even being friends with Lu wasn't enough for him to put his muzzle into Pack politics. He should have remembered that. But knowing how Lu actually felt about the situation, some days it was hard to keep his mouth shut about it. He finally smiled, although apologetically at the Wolf, still keeping his head low in submission.
Sticks & Stones {Lu & Anum}Sept. 26th Morning
“Yeah, what is it they say, ‘the heart wants what the heart wants.’ Lu shrugged his shoulders he could barely wrap his brain around his own heart, and trying to figure out the meanderings of another was beyond pointless. Despite Anum’s disposition he felt bad his friend’s suggestions and gifts were so curtly dismissed by humans. He shrugged and added, “just because that woman didn’t to listen doesn’t mean others haven’t or won’t.” Lu looked back to the crystals and dismissed the dark red one based on his friends suggestion, and followed him when he moved towards the ambers. “She already has necklace, a moonstone she wears all the time. Perhaps I’ll take just a crystal.” Despite his gentle ribbing about Leigha’s magic he wanted to prove he does listen and care. Although her name never came up he assumed Anum knew exactly who he was speaking of and appreciated his discretion. His mind drifted back to the miserable and shrewd woman from earlier. “Are you happy here?” It was easy to assume that continual rejection on a daily basis of your talent could lead to a heaviness that he didn’t wish upon his friend. The intention for this place was so Anum could immerse himself further into the fae community, however at what expense.
Anum smiled softly at his confused friend. While he could and would happily provide the Wolf with enough advice to make Leigha happy for years, if not centuries to come, it still wasn't his place. He nodded at Lu's suggestion and turned to pull out a box. "Amber is an interesting crystal." He said as he pulled out a twisted, almost helix looking shaped crystal. "This one formed in some very oddly shaped knots in a tree, and is probably somewhere around 3000 years old." It was small and he held it out to his friend in the palm of his hand. The words that fell from Lu's mouth, however, had not been expected. He blinked at the Wolf a few times, his hand starting to close involuntarily. Was he happy here? Did he enjoy having a handful of aquantances and a large mob of people who would like nothing better than to see him go? Did he enjoy the screaming sights and sounds of the city and all its futures and pasts as he tried to sleep? Trying a bit too hard, he put a smile on his face and opened his hand back up. "Well, I did enjoy my trip home." he said simply. "I think the better question would be are you happy with Oz being pack leader?" he said directly, trying very hard to get the conversation off of himself, and forgetting to phrase his statements with any resemblance of tact.
You Again |Oz & Anum| Morning of Oct. 1st
Oz had known that his Anum-free time wouldn’t last for long; but a big part of him had hoped that the Jackal would stay gone for good. “And you thought you’d just pick up your assignment right where you left off like a good little lap dog doing exactly what he’s told,” Oz replied with disdain. More for the Council than Anum, but still plenty for him. “As a matter of fact I did enjoy my time. Immensly.” He wondered just how long a bit longer would be. When Anum stood and spoke, Oz only glared at him. “Good, make sure you do. Are you planning on following me right now? I’m only going to the station…but you probably already knew that.”
Anum had been acutely aware of just how much Oz seemed to hate him. And while Anum could have provided Oz enough information to make his life a breeze with the Council, he knew that Oz would never have welcomed it, nor heeded any of it. Or, for that matter, would it have changed his view on Anum. So the Jackal said nothing in regards to the verbal venom that the Wolf was spitting at him, and simply lowered his head slightly in response. "I am." He said, pausing and waiting for the Councilman to begin to walk out. He would follow, and do as the Wolf commanded, knowing that too much talking out of him could blow both of their facades. "I assume you have an excuse prepared as to why I'm at the station with you?" He said, genuinely asking, even though he already knew the answer. He didn't want to pretend to be a University student, but he was sure that it would work well as a cover story for him being in the station and not in handcuffs. Of course, Oz might prefer to have him in those, so Anum made sure not to move any closer to the big Wolf until the Councilman made up his mind.
Sticks & Stones {Lu & Anum}Sept. 26th Morning
Lu continued staring into the case and felt Anum squat and stare next to him. It had been awhile since he’s seen his friend, and it was nice to have his amicable presence again. They both had pulled into the vortex that Henrik’s trial had created. He couldn’t help but chuckle and brought his hand to his face when Anum teased he would actually use a crystal for magic work. However, he listened nonetheless pulling away that indeed it could be of use for Leigha, or so he thought. Standing up right he turned to face his friend before addressing. “Yes, mostly and don’t worry I’m not switching teams any time soon. It’s not meant for me, but rather a friend.” He paused before he gestured to the back room with his head curious over what had exactly taken place. “Another satisfied customer…I take it the reading didn’t go so well?” The shop had managed to clear out and the two men were left to talk openly and freely. He smiled and returned his gaze back to the crystals, and despite knowing his next question could lead to a bit of an interrogation from his friend he asked anyways. “Would you recommend it for a young manipulator Witch?”
Anum smiled at his friend and stood upright, noting for the billionth time that he was a full head shorter than his wolf counterpart. He tilted his head as Lu seemed to get... not exactly nervous, but certainly dodgy with his words. "Oh, I know you won't. After all, you can't really. At least not to that team." He grinned at the Wolf again. Glancing after the woman who had been so dissastified with his reading he sighed and shook his head. "Humans don't want to know the truth. Least of all human females. They believe that they are all special to the man that they are with, and this is more often than not very far from the truth." He shrugged and looked back at Lu. "I tried to point her in the right direction to find that man, but she doesn't seem interested in someone who delivers her mail." Looking back at the crystals as Lu did he pondered carefully his friend's next words. He knew very well who Lu was talking about, and involved with. But Lu hadn't come to him for advice, or information, so he knew that he was to keep his mouth shut about Leigha. "Oh, probably not. I'd probably recommend one of the small shards of amber. It ties it's user very closely to the earth and those types of elements. Perhaps she'd like it in a pendant?" he said, turning to move around the display case to the crystal necklaces on the back wall. "I could show you a few if you'd like."
You Again |Oz & Anum| Morning of Oct. 1st
Oz had decided to get an early jump on the day before he had to go to work. He had already hit the gym and had a shower, so after he got dressed, he grabbed his gun and badge then made it to Busboys on his way to the station. He ordered the usual large black coffee and was on his way out when he saw the familiar face of a Jackal lurking at a corner table. Oz let out a sigh and made his way over. “Back in town I see.”
Anum had been told by the council to go right back to his duties as soon as he got back and to be prepared to give his findings at any moment. So here he was at Busboys' preparing himself to have yet another unpleasant interaction with the Pack Leader. He sipped his coffee as the Wolf approached him and looked up. "Yes. I got back yesterday." He said quietly. "I would assume that you've enjoyed your time without me, but unfortunately I have to be a bother to you for a bit longer." He paused to fold the paper that he'd been reading while waiting for Oz to show up and put it down on the table. "But I do remember our arrangement and will attempt to stay out of your way." He stood up after a moment longer, and waited for Oz to growl at him.
Anum's Bucket List
Anum isn't very old, so his bucket list still has a lot of things that are incomplete.
See the Aurora Borealis
Walk/hike from the tip of South America to the Arctic Circle
Skydive (So that he can feel what it's like to fly)
Bring true peace to one person (or more)
Dance in a summer rainstorm with his true love
Find the aforementioned true love (preferably before #5)
Have one or more children who look just like their mother, or adopt several who need a brighter future
Do something regrettable without regretting it
Which is your least favorite Fae species?
Least favorite is probably Vampires. They're almost always heartless and cruel. And they'll almost always kill anyone who is in their way. But these are stereotypes. I've met, and been friends with some very nice Vampires.
What do hate most about your gift?
The headaches and that's all I'll say about that.
What do you hate most about the other fae species?
Why do you anons keep thinking I hate everything? I don't hate anything about other fae. That's like hating your cousin because he's not your brother.
What do you hate most about humans?
I don't hate anything about humans, other than the fact that very few could be trusted to know about us and not to try to wipe us out.
What personality trait annoys you most in others?
As I said a minute ago, I dislike disrespectful people. They annoy me. Oh, and bigoted people.
What house hold chore do you despise the most?
I like cleaning house. I do not enjoy having a messy house because it makes me feel slovenly. But... I don't generally enjoy having to "mow a lawn". In Egypt, we didn't have grass, or at least, not enough to have to mow it.
What’s your least favorite food?
I despise canned tuna. I hate it. I don't know why. It smells funny and looks like something a cat threw up. Maybe because cats like it so much? I don't know.
Who is your least favorite person?
Oh... well this is a hard one. Right now? Probably Oz. Seeing as he hates me for no good reason. But that'll end one day, when I end up.... Oops, almost said too much. ;)
What is the one thing you hate more than anything else?
I don't hate much, little dear anon. Other than irrational, or disrespectful people. However, I don't really even hate those, as most of the time, it's just bad upbringing.
Sticks & Stones {Lu & Open}Sept. 26th Morning
The morning was crisp and perfect and after leaving Busboys & Poets with a cup of coffee he took to the street to squeeze in as much as possible into the morning. Lu hadn’t seen Anum in weeks, and decided to take some initiative and walked down to Fifth Moon shortly after it opened. He thought to beat the masses or at least the first customer, however, he was wrong. When he closed the door to the shop he could hear a reading was already going on, so he walked about looking at the newly arrived merchandise. After he eyeballed the occult book section he made his way over to the crystals. While some were tucked securely behind the counter, the less expensive ones were out in the open. There were every color one could imagine some were beautiful and others were…well not. Crystals were beyond him as were most magical objects, but right now he wished he knew more about them. Leaning down he stared at a pretty moonstone, and it reminded him of Leigha’s necklace. Next to it was a deep red one, if it had been a gem he would have called it a ruby. The thought crossed his mind that it would be a nice gesture to buy her one to help with her magic. His eyes continued to pass over several more stones until he heard the scuffle of feet behind him. Assuming in was Anum he asked without so much as lifting his eyes or turning, “That one on the left…the dark red one… next to the moonstone. What is it for?”
Anum tried not to smile at the human across from him as she pouted at him when he told her that she wasn't going to be married to someone rich soon. "But I don't understand! He's so nice and spends a lot of time with me." She practically wailed at him. Anum took a small breath and flipped over another meaningless Tarot card. Of course they said something far more sinister than what he knew was true. "Miss Reynolds, I'm sorry, but the cards say..." he pretended to study the cards for a moment, then pointed at the upside down Queen of Cups. "This card says that he's not only seeing you, but several other women. Does he have a secretary? A blonde perhaps?" The woman's shocked face was almost too much. He almost burst out laughing at her. "Yes." she said angrily. "That's the one he sees most often. Perhaps you should talk to the man at your work who always brings you the mail?" He said, glancing up at her after looking at the Queen of Coins as if it had something to do with her future. She stared at him for a moment, then cleared her throat and left without another word. He waited until she'd slammed the door behind her, the bells jingling loudly before he stood and laughed, and put the cards away. Sensing Lu in the main part of the shop, he went out to greet his friend, noticing him staring solemnly at the crystals in the case. At the Wolf's question, he walked over and leaned over the case, looking at the crystal in question. "Well, Lu, it depends. Are you using it in a spell, or are you using it to divine? If it's part of a spell or ritual, it will lend energy or force to your spell. If you're using it to scry then you'll be more likely to find whatever it is your looking for, as long as it's important. Or if it's a person you're looking for, you'll probably find your soul mate." He chuckled and grinned up at the slightly taller man. "Does that sate your curiosity, my friend?"
