Turns out, mess with someoneās head enough, you can turn a scared little kid into an all-powerful bitch.
Jack bumped into someone as she stormed out of the room. Who, she wasn't sure and she didn't care. She was on the war path - her blood boiled with the familiar urge to kill. If she could help it, she preferred not to have alliance blood on her hands. Or to get her own head bashed in. She knew better than to start messing with Shepās crew. But she had to do fucking something. She slammed the button on the elevator, and waited with clenched fists for itās arrival. Once the damn thing finally showed up, she rushed inside, and squeezed her eyes shut. She thought about it sometimes; Pragia. It was better now that the shit-hole had been blasted to bits, and that she had shot that coward through the skull, but she didnāt forget. She could never forget what they did to her. And when there was nothing to kill, she got angry. At herself, at Cerberus, hell sometimes she even got angry at Shepard. The elevator dinged, signifying her arrival on engineering. Her eyelids flew open. With the rage was burning her up inside, she stormed down into her hole, glad their was no one getting in her way. Her fist made contact with the wall, a scream tearing through her throat. Her biotics sung in her blood. Someone would hear. Well fuck them. Shepard was abandoning her, just like everyone else she had ever fucking met. Her fist hit the metal again, blood dripped from her fist.Ā āGet a fucking grip.ā She muttered to herself. She wasn't a child anymore, Shepard had made sure of that. She squeezed her eyes shut again, and thought of something other than Pragia; of the Normandy, and the crew that had at least tried to be friendly with her. Slowly, her breathing and her rage settled. When she opened her eyes again, she was still angry. but the urge to kill was gone. She eased herself into the cot, her head falling into her hands. What the fuck would she do when all of this was gone?
((Iām on hiatus from my main blog but of course iāll still try to post here. Hopefully iāll have something up by the end of the week. - K))
Rather than visibly express her skyrocketing stress levels, however, she simply gave a nearly imperceptible eyeroll as she crossed her arms, derisive but still sympathetic to Shepardās ongoing struggle. āRight. On my desk. Thank you, Commander⦠and allow me to reiterate...
Illium? Shit. Jack had run a pirating operation there. It was years ago, but those high and mighty types never let go of grudges. Sure, when she was with Shep, those shitheads couldnāt touch her. But without Shep, she was fair game. She would need money and protection. She could bum a ride to omega- Aria could find a job for her, if Ā she didnāt still have a stick up her ass. Or maybe she could convince some of the members of the crew who werenāt such goody-two-shoes to go under the law with her. There was always the black market. She suspected Kasumi had connections, and Zaeed didnāt mind getting his hands dirty. But they could betray her, and sheād have to kill them. Shep wouldnāt forgive her if it came to that, Fuck. Whatever. She didnāt want to be here anymore.Ā
āAre we done here?ā She barked, staring at her knuckles as she cracked them. She needed to get back to her hole.
The Krogan caught the eyes of Samara as he glanced around the room looking for some kind of support from the others. They had all come to know Shepardās strength as he had and for them to just stand there drove him mad. Her calm-like gaze enraged him but at the same time seemed to temper him a bit. Combined with the sudden realization of his actions and ramifications Shepard probably had lined up and he felt a shiver. Though it wasnāt for long. Since renewed thoughts of Shepardās sudden dismissal again made him rage. His snarl penned his rage as he stood there and paced a bit to try and contain his feelings.
Shepardās jaw tightened. āThe Allianceās official position is that the Reapers donāt exist. The artifact the team found in the Bahak system should have been used to prove that they do, but now all they have is reports of me going in to a batarian system and three days later eradicating it from existence. That doesnāt exactly look good.ā
And no matter what other things had happened - no matter if the Alliance had declared her MIA and elected not to extract her from Cerberus when they found out she was back, no matter if she was facing a court-martial - Shepard was still a soldier and the military had been her everything ever since she was sixteen and sat on her first shuttle, being shipped offworld from Mindoir. Was she tempted to take her ship and hide somewhere in a remote system? Absolutely. But that wouldnāt keep the galaxy from being torn apart.
āWeāre on borrowed time. What we need is to convince the Alliance, as well as every other major military force and eventually the Council, that the threat weāre facing is real and imminent. Right now that involves me going to Earth whether I want to or not.ā
For the first time in a long while, Jack felt something other than rage bubbling in her stomach. There were no swears spewing out of her mouth, nothing to name what she felt. Could it be fear? No. Fear had been systematically stripped from her body at Pragia. Whatever this was, was much stronger. She had found something with Shepard and her crew that resembled a home. Sure, they were nosy and too moral for the company she usually kept, but they hadn't betrayed her yet. And she could kill without any consequences. Until they reached earth. She was wanted for crimes across the galaxy, and was currently supposed be spending time in maximum security prison. Out here on the Normandy, she had been protected by Cerberus. But with the ties cut, the second they touched down, she'd be on the run again. It wouldn't be easy this time- there was no one left alive to take her in. Fuck. She placed it then, the feeling slowly consuming her- desperation. And she fucking hated it.
ā Things just couldnāt seem to settle down. Solve one problem && ten even worse ones would present themselves as if by clockwork, or some great conspiracy by whatever higher powers might exist, intended to keep Miranda from ever chasing down a quiet moment to herself -...
Before Jack could blurt out some insult toward the ver uses cheerleader who had just sauntered into the room, samara spoke up. Jack new better than to start something with her, so she kept her mouth shut. But the smirk was plain on her lips as she stared down Miranda
Having made a diversion to the crew deck bathroom, Shepard caught her own gaze in the reflective surface above the sink. Once-green eyes were now almost completely red, an angry glowing fire matching her fury and frustration over the state of the galaxy.
Perhaps she should get...
Jack had grown impatient. Couldn't Shep just get on with it? It wasn't like she had shit to do she just didn't like standing around with the rest of the crew, knowing they were judging her. Or maybe they weren't judging her, but she still didn't like it. The silence, contrasted against the noise she was used to under the engine bay, was unnerving But Miranda wasn't there so of course Shepard was waiting on her- Couldn't convene the jackass royal court without the princess of the Girl Scouts. Before she could stop herself, her fist was on the table and the words where out of her mouth "so what, we're just gonna stand around like we're watching fucking paint dry while Princess Miranda does her makeup?" Her biotics had started flaring, and she didn't even try to keep them in check. "Just tell us what needs killing, Shepard, and we'll kill it." Was she making it clear enough that she needed to pulverize something before that something turned out to be her crew?
((Also I made an about me page but I'm on mobile on my way to a lecture so no link, sorry but check it out, I'll probs make a post later too cus I feel like y'all hardly know me ~K))
"EDI", she said while turning the datapad with her report off and moving to leave the Med Bay, "tell my squad to meet me in the comm room."
"Of course, Commander."
Temporarily diverting the daily efficiency diagnostics to a series of subroutines, EDI...
It wasn't often that Jack received messages on her omnitool, and unless she thought she was gonna get to see some action, she ignored them. But shit was going down, so every message was important. The ping on from her tool shocked Jack out of her trance. She had been lying on her cot in her space below the engine bay, thinking, psyching herself up for something big. She grunted when she read the request, but stood and made her way to the comm room. She didn't say a word to any of the crew as she sauntered past- just a snarl if someone stared too long.
No one was there yet, apart from the Asari Justicar. She didn't turn to look when Jack entered, just kept staring ahead eerily. Some freaky mediating shit or something. Jack sighed heavily and leaned against the wall, arms crossed over her chest. This better be good- she was getting the urge to turn something into a bloody pulp.
Well, friends, the ones who appear to still be around - aside from yours truly and Kasumi - are Ashley/Mordin, Jack, Legion/Garrus, Liara, and Wrex. Now, that isnāt a whole lot of people, but weāve been at a low point before and bounced back so Iām not too worried!
The thing is, though, that...
I hate to say it but I kinda vote we drop the plot. I know a lot of work has gone into it, but I just don't see how we can make it work at this point. Maybe a skip would work, obviously it would be awkward. I just think maybe this plot won't be right with so few people. Idk, it's my first time too, just putting that out there. ~K
((Still here, y'all.))
