As part of Trans Awareness Week, GLAAD launched a trans microaggression photo project. Microaggressions are the subtle disparaging remarks that invalidate a trans person’s identity.  This project is meant to raise awareness about how these oppressive statements, while often said with good intentions, prove to be the most damaging.

Was honored to attend the Ottawa Transgender Day of Remembrance with my good friend, @maxfineday, last night. As a Cree Two-Spirit Transgender Gay man who is a suicide survivor and now an outspoken human rights advocate; I reflect on how many #Trans people we've lost over the years to violence, suicide, and other atrocities. I reflect on how much work we still have ahead of us to protect all citizens. Trans people deserve the right to live in a safe society and have the right to live full and fulfilling lives. Today I write this as a means of support, a little over a week ago, I found out that my Nohkum was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. I ask simply for your thoughts and prayers for her as she enters this difficult journey. She's a tough bird who's always been there for me and for others, her heart is bigger than this world can even imagine and I know she'll make it through. To you Nohkum, I love you and always will
