Lily had just been on her way out of one of the buildings lining the street after dropping off a delivery, when she heard the shout. Looking up suddenly from her phone, she spotted the puppy running right in her direction, and knowing she wouldn’t be able to grab them, she immediately stepped further out onto the sidewalk, stamping onto the leash to catch hold of it.

Jackson saw the leash pull tight and cut off Dexter’s escape. Seconds later, he managed to catch up and he bent down to free the tether from beneath the woman’s shoe. “Thank you,” he grinned up at her. “I let go for half a second and he just took off on me.” He shook his head, looking back over at the pup who was still very much trying to bolt again. The leash was wrapped firmly in his hand once more before his attention went back to the good Samaritan. “I owe ya one.”

Aanya was on her afternoon walk as she took everyday since she moved here during a break at work. Running her fingers through her hair, she was about to turn a corner when she found a little Terrier at her feet barking at her. Chuckling, she decided to grab the collar and tried to look for the dog’s name and information. “Is this your dog?” She asked, seeing a male stranger walking towards her and the dog.

Jackson was sure he’d lost Dexter the second the pup turned the corner, and he picked up his speed just a little in hopes he could still grab him. As soon as he rounded the corner himself though, he saw the woman bending down to Dex and he let out a sigh, slowing back to a walk once more. “Yeah,” he confirmed with a nod as he approached. “Little brat tore off when I let the leash go for two seconds. Guess he really wanted to say hey to ya.”

Walking to work didn’t seem like the best idea but Sera had to do it. A couple blocks seemed nothing when she had music to listen to. Rounding a corner and distracted by music when she focused on the male who shouted at her, followed by a puppy running past her. Turning on her heel, she followed behind the puppy catching up to him and snatching him off the ground before the puppy could enter the road. “Gotcha buddy.” A sigh of relief, she happily petted the energetic puppy while turning around and searching for it’s owner. Seeing the briefly familiar figure, a knowing smile etched her features. “He’s yours, right?” Lifting the puppy up slightly.

Dexter was getting far too close to the street and Jackson could swear it was almost in slow motion as he saw a woman scoop the pup up seconds before paws touched the blacktop. His pace slowed once the Terrier was safe and he nodded at the question as he finally reached the savior. “He would be mine,” he answered with a light chuckle. Now that the danger was over he could laugh. “Faster than he looks, lemme tell ya. Thank you for grabbin’ ‘em.”

Clara grinned and she looked at the puppy, “Well, obviously he’s going to make an amazing fire-dog.” she told the man. Him being a fireman definitely explained the dog-at-work situation a little more, but she thought that was adorable. “I’m trying to stay open minded. I figure that I’ll know when I see the right dog.”

Jackson reached over to tug at Dexter’s tail playfully and the puppy turned to attack him again, happy for the attention. He had to admit the Terrier was a handful most of the time, but it was a responsibility he was more than happy to take on. “I think that’s the best way. It’s how I ended up with this little rascal.” He smiled over at the woman. “Do ya have a yard or is it gonna be an apartment pup?”

Thomas was interrupted from his thought when he heard the yapping of a dog followed by a voice. Looking up, he noticed a small dog running towards him down the sidewalk. Before Thomas could even react it seemed as though the dog was only a couple feet away. He knew his reaction time wasn’t going to be the best, but luckily the dog decided to stop and sniff him. Thinking quickly, Thomas grabbed the leash before it could take off again. “Are you being a bad dog?” Thomas asked the puppy, as if it would answer him.

Jackson watched as Dexter came to a halt next to a man and he rolled his eyes a little. That’s why the pup had took off, to make a new friend. He made his way over to the pair and shook his head down at Dexter. “Did ya need to tell him hi that badly?” he asked the dog who seemed to be paying him exactly zero attention in favor of licking the stranger’s hand. “Thanks, man. He’s a slick little thing.”

Lara wasn’t paying much attention to her surroundings before she heard someone yelling behind her. Spinning around just in time to see the dog bounding towards her, she grabbed the lead before kneeling down to see if the poor pup was okay. “Man, you’re fast.” She told him, stroking his head before chuckling. “Cute little thing.” Lara called over to the presumed owner as she stood.

Jackson hadn’t meant to startle anyone, but he was grateful the woman reacted as quickly as she did. Dexter seemed to be distracted from his goal of making it to the street by the stranger and he was able to slow to a walk in order to catch up. “Cute but sneaky,” Jackson replied with a shake of his head as he approached. “Thanks for catchin’ ‘em. If he’d have made it to the street...”

With her first photoshoot in this new city coming up, Julianna started her workout and eating plan right on schedule. She was modeling for Nike, so keeping up in shape and wearing their merchandise was good with her. Running along one of the many sidewalks in Atlanta, she focused on her surroundings more than her workout. It was a beautiful day - the sky was blue, the trees were swaying peacefully, and the sun was nice on her skin. Seeing a man and a puppy coming her way, her eyes focused on the dog because it was so fucking cute. When she saw the puppy run for it’s life, the model put her attention on it’s owner. Since her headphones were in, she read his lips and dashed toward the puppy. “Gotcha!” She exclaimed as she grabbed the puppy that came close to her. “You’re quite the runner, huh?” She questioned the puppy before approaching the owner. “Even though this puppy is yours, do you mind if I steal him? He’s so fucking cute!”

Jackson watched as a blonde intercepted Dexter and he made it to where she stood only moments later. The break for freedom had caught him completely off guard so it was no surprise it had taken a few extra moments to catch up with the little fugitive. “Thank you!” he exclaimed, laughing at the question. “He’s even cuter when he’s not tryna make run for it. Too smart for his own good, huh, Dex?” He looked down at his puppy who seemed to be doing his best to lick the woman’s face, completely avoiding the chastising look from Jackson.

Jackson had let go of Dexter’s leash for two seconds, just long enough to drop the baggie into the trash, but that seemed to be enough time for the pup to make a break for it. Before he even knew what was happening, the little Terrier was off down the sidewalk, baking and yapping almost like it was a game. “Hey, grab ‘em!” he shouted, hoping someone would snatch up the leash for him before Dexter ran out into the street.

Ethan couldn’t judge Jackson or his decision, he couldn’t make him change his mind—he had tried and failed, and he was a fast learner. It only got his partner to push him farther, so he wasn’t going to keep doing that. He just wanted Jackson to stop lying to him. He knew already. All the signs were there. He understood now why he was so afraid to say anything, to come clean. He was in no position to tell him to do otherwise either. But he felt like their trust in each other had been severed and not only was it hurting but it could also put them in danger, doing what they did, if there wasn’t trust between them, their lives could be on the line. “I guess it’s not the place to ask anything either. Just, you know, don’t push me away. That’s all. As long as you’re happy, that’s all that matters, JP.”

Jackson let out a deep sigh and looked down at his hands. He knew he was being unfair, but he also knew that he had legitimate reasons for how he was acting. Not that Ethan had ever given him one of them. So it was wrong to take his past out on his partner. “Look,” he said, his voice quieter than it had been before. He paused for a moment, trying to order his words as his tongue licked over his bottom lip. “I’m sorry, alright? It’s not somethin’ I’m...I haven’t had the easiest time with it all, but that’s not your fault.” Jackson blinked back up at Ethan. “I am gay. And I have been datin’ Mishka for a couple of months now. We live together and Dex is ours together. He’s my first real boyfriend and I’m head over heels for him. But I’m not ready for people to know that.”
