“You’d hate me. I would be an awful student. Even my mom gave up after a couple tries. She imparted to me our family lasagne and that’s all she could stand.”

“I would find a way to ruin it. I guarantee. I would find a way to burn the shit out of it. It would be awful and I’d die.” He nods seriously. “Oh fuck yes mashed potatoes.”

“Well lucky you have a friend like me who is willing to make you something to eat,” Soleil says dramatically. “Only because you agreed to watch Harry Potter in my tiny apartment,” She laughs. “This has been in the slow cooker all day though, beef is falling apart now, and I brought up a loaf of bread. Nothing fancy.”
Jackson groans, a long low and deep sound. “Holy shit it smells so good and I can’t wait to eat it. You’re my absolute savior. Keeping me from dying.”

“Did you really?” She ginned with a brightly. “You wouldn’t still happen to have a few copies would you? Because I’d really love to see them. I’ve done a couple clovers but if I ever get a chance to sketch a whole series it’d be a dream come true for me.”
“I’m sure I have them somewhere, yeah. I’ll email them to you.” He laughs sheepishly. “What do you want to draw for most?”
“I’m basically just like, here you go, body. Feeding you. And my body is like ‘please god, this is just gummy vitamins and cereal it doesn’t count as food.’“
“I mean, they kick you out of culinary school if you can’t,” Olin jokes as he tosses the potato up into the air. “I’ve been thinking about doing a sort of masterclass thing at the restaurant after hours, invite a few people, go over a complicated recipe, break it down for them. What do you think?”
“Oh.. I mean.. I’m sort of hopeless when it comes to anything that doesn’t just like sit and cook somewhere. On the stove or in an oven. I basically can only put ingredients together and hope they all cook together properly.”
“He asked if I wanted to unwrap his birthday candle,” Sarah said, grimacing a little as she looked down at her drink, twirling her straw. Her birthday was by far her least favorite day of the year, hence her growing bill as she sat at the bar. She’d prefer if no one knew, but that was a little difficult when she had a class of kindergarteners who loved to give little presents. “I feel like you should at least wait until your child is out of earshot before saying gross stuff to their teacher. Or maybe just…don’t because it’s awful..”
“Oh god, that’s the worst thing I’ve ever heard maybe. I’m very very sorry there are people dumb enough to say shit like that.” Jackson laughs a little.
“My demo is finally up!” Maiah announced excitedly, as she twirled her laptop around and displayed her game information. “I’m obviously still in the works of getting some financial backing, but I have to say I’m pretty proud of this demo. If you ever have the time and you enjoy adventure games, check it out!”
“Oh fuck yes, congrats! I can’t wait to get a chance to play it.”

“I just don’t want to overwhelm anyone. Or make them uncomfortable,” she explained in a soft voice. “I come with a lot of baggage.” She warned feeling a little embarrassed. “Really? You wanna be my friend?”
“I know that feeling.” He says honestly with a small smile. “Sometimes though, you have to put aside that feeling of inconveniencing someone and talk though.” He nudges her shoulder. “Of course I do.”
