Menâs Issue Robbie Amell by Stephen Busken
ryan-carrcll:
     âYeah. Yeah. Hereâs to hopinâ,â a pause. âHereâs to hopinâ none of us are needed for that again anytime soon.â With the growing track record of the small safe haven, Ryanâs all too weary about the future. The young wolf smiled next, a broad grin that dimples his cheeks. âYou sure do know how to throw a little party, Iâll give you that.â Accepting the cold bottle, he follows Jake, eyeing the car. âDebbie?â he questions, smiling. âAny meaning behind it? Sheâs beautiful, man. You find her like this or are you tinkerinâ and rebuilding?â
Jake couldnât help but snort, a low chuckle soon following as he clapped his hand against the manâs shoulder once more. âYou can say that again.â Still, all jokes aside  he could appreciate Ryanâs empathy. âYou shouldâve seen my place back home,â Jake said, for once not restricting himself when it came memories - in this case, happier ones. âPlastic cups, fancy water dispenser, the full shazam.â Appreciating the interest shown in the car, he shifted to stand in front of it with a lopsided grin. âSheâs Debbie because she nearly got me in debt, purchasing parts online are more trouble than itâs worth.âÂ
alex-cunningham:
Alex had slowly been making her rounds,checking in on all the people she cared about to ensure that in the mess Spring Fling they were alright once sheâd finally found the courage to leave the house. She figured she could take her car to Jake as an excuse to see him. Pulling up to the garage she climbed out of her car, a small smile, the best that she could manage given everything, to see Jake alive and well. âHey,â She called to catch his attention. âItâs making a weird clunking sound, do you think you could take a look at it?âAlex asked trying not to let her emotions get the best of her to see him alive. Everything these days seemed to bring her to the verge of tears and she was trying so hard to be strong.
@jacobthorne
At the sound of a approaching car, Jake didnât pull his gaze from the one he was currently working on, instead waiting for -- who he presumed was another customer -- to announce their arrival when they were ready. However the moment he heard her voice Jakeâs head instantly tilted upwards, his eyes searching for the familiar flash of blonde hair. While he knew she was probably tired of people fussing, or bringing up what she went through, his feet had other ideas as they crossed the small distance between the two. Wrapping his arms around her petite frame, he held her against his chest. âItâs so good to see you, Alex.â Only pulling back slightly to look at her face, he offered a weak smile as his gaze travelled across her features to search for any obvious signs of distress or discomfort. âHow are you holding up?â
jamesxthatch:
James held his hands up at the boyâs tone, realizing heâd hit a nerve. Donât bring up Summerdale. Check. âMy apologies.â Taking a swig from his new drink, James mulled over Jacobâs question. âLive concert,â he answered instead, hoping it was a reasonable enough explanation for why he was about to sample as many glasses as he could. The real reason, he knew, would make him sound out of his fucking mind. The concert, as well as the events afterward, werenât a complete lie, either. He couldâve done without that shit. âHollow Grove isnât very boring, is it?â
Watching as James apologised, Jake second guessed his original reaction. Usually, he could hold a tight reign on his emotions. But with all that had happened in his past weighing heavy on his shoulders, and being in a town that was already so alike to Summerdale for his liking, he could feel it slipping. Still, he remained silent, instead ducking his head in acknowledgement of his apology to show he accepted it. As he mentioned the live concert, Jake stifled a laugh. "Ah, the fight.â Having already heard from Lola about what had happened, he took a guess and assumed James was one of the two men unfortunate enough to be caught in the crossfire. Though at the manâs following comment, he had to laugh then. âBoring would be a blessing right now, but I donât think this town is capable of it.â
elisabcths:
âElisabeth, nice to meet you.â she replied with a grin, âYou new in town or been here a while?â
âAnd you,â he said, returning her smile with a small one of his own. âBeen here a couple of months or so, not long compared to most Iâll bet. What about you?â
alexasawyer:
She nodded. âExactly. There are a lot of things as a vampire to dislike, if Iâm being real right now. Itâs not the picnic people make it seem out here.â Alexa could and would make fun of and scrutinize herself and what she was quite often. She did it on the radio all the time. âI should bake him some cookies too. Be as neighborly as possible. Maybe heâll be afraid Iâm trying to kill him and leave.â Â
He could have chuckled at her choice of words, but considering she was being entirely honest with him, Jake simply nodded as she spoke. He didnât know why or how she was turned, and he wouldnât ask, but her words gave him the vibe her becoming a being of the undead wasnât completely her decision. Still, as she was being honest, he would in turn be truthful too. âConsidering weâre being honest, it isnât all that appealing to me,â he said, shrugging his shoulders. âNot just the vampire thing -- werewolf, witch..â Jake trailed off, shaking his head before adding. âNot for me.â There of course was the very real possibility of him triggering, but he was making sure to keep his anger in check. Shifting from his thoughts when she spoke again, Jake couldnât help but chuckle this time. âYeah, I think thatâll successfully throw him off guard. See? Thereâs always a silver lining.â
gemmaxbarton:
âI would hate to lose my wallet, figured I could keep someone else from losing theirâs.â She shook her head with a chuckle, âYou donât have to do that. However, since Iâm new in town and donât know anyone, I wouldnât be opposed to grabbing a drink.â
âHow very noble of you,â he mused jokingly before shaking his head as he gestured forward. âI insist. Like I said, itâs the least I can do. Iâm relatively new but I'd like to think I know the places worth knowing.â Though, Jake knew there was many parts of the town he had yet to explore. More so recently considering be barely left his house other than to work. âCafe or bar?â
emmasawyer:
Even though she knew how generous people in this town could be, she was still stunned by the manâs offer, sheâd supposed that she had become a little jaded after her grandfathersâ death. How it had gone down, maybe having made her rethink the kindness of people. âReally?â she asked quietly, âI⌠I donât know what to say. Can I let you know? I hope that doesnât sound ungrateful I just, still need to get my head put on straight.â she admitted, before waving off his apology, âIt was a crazy weekend, itâs fine. Glad you pulled up okay.â
At her initial reaction, Jake felt his face soften as he nodded his head slowly. âYeah,â he said before nodding once again, followed by a small shrug. âSure, no problem. Take as long as you need. And please, donât feel bad if you want to turn it down, I know the smell of oil isnât for everyone.â Offering a slanted grin, he bowed his head. âItâs been pretty crazy from start to finish, but uh, thanks -- you too.Â
victoriaxhernandez:
She was tired of being in pain in front of some guy sheâd never met before so she swallowed heavily and moved to push herself up. âYou know what, Iâm okay. I should be fine to go home, but I wonât say no to a little help along the way.â Tori chuckled slightly, âMy couch sounds so much nicer than the ground.â
Jake watched as she deliberated his offer, pulling his gaze from her to look around before glancing back at Tori when she spoke. Nodding, he pulled himself to his feet and offered out his arm as she stood. âSure -- yeah, of course.â Waiting until she gave him a nod to show she was ready to set off, Jake began to pace beside her, supporting her weight with one arm as the other fell to his side.Â
There were a handful of little things Jake had forgotten that came along with living in a small town â passing rumours being one that he was especially reminded of now, as he stood in a queue at the local store. Overhearing Haydenâs mother speaking to someone about the return of her son, Jake couldnât help himself from eavesdropping. Though there was always confliction with his feelings every time he crossed another familiar face from Summerdale, he found himself eager to see his old friend. Â But then he remembered the debacle that was the wedding â or almost wedding. Â Cringing to himself, he hurried to pay for his items before making his way home to drop them off. Once doing so, Jake found himself standing outside Haydenâs mothers door, a crooked smile on his face as he rang the doorbell. When someone opened the door, who he looked up to see was Hayden himself, Jake grinned at him. âLong time no see. Itâs good to see you again, man.â
@hayden-grierâ
As if the past couple of weeks hadnât already been hard enough, Jake awoke to find someone had tried breaking into the garage. After an hour or so of grumbling and assessing the minor damage for himself, he checked the CCTV footage he had before reluctantly readying himself to report it. He felt stupid, considering no serious damage was caused and nothing had been stolen â but heâd be lying to himself if he wasnât half using it as an excuse to actually get out of the house. Easily locating the station, Jake shuffled as he waited to speak with someone. Though, after a few minutes he began to convince himself out of the decision, deciding that maybe it really was stupid anyway. Standing to leave, he paused when a man â who at a second glance he realised was an officer â came into view. Offering an apologetic but strained smile, Jake pulled his hands from his pockets. âSorry, I was just leaving.â Â

elisabcths:
âExcellent, glad to see you have taste.â
He chuckled at that, ducking his head into a nod in acknowledgement of her compliment. âJacob, by the way.â
alexasawyer:
Alexa smirked. âI dislike myself sometimes so I could personally give you a whole list.â She shook her head at his question. âNo actually I havenât. I get the sense that heâs very unreasonable. I feel like he might call the cops on me because I said hello.â
âBecause youâre a vampire?â Jake asked on impulse, not really thinking his question through. While her mannerism's displayed she was joking, he was wary. Summerdale was heavily populated with wolves more than anything, so to speak with a vampire about them being a vampire was uncharted waters for him. âAll the more reason to do it. If he calls the cops for you saying hello, who looks like the idiot?â
emmasawyer:
âJust something to tide me over I guess?â she admitted, looking up at the man for a moment before recognising the man from the softball game. âHowâd you pull up after the softball game?â she asked, having not managed to catch up with him since.
âI own a garage - it wouldnât hurt to have someone working on the books, making appointments and all that. If you want it, that is.â He offered, shoulders lifting into a awkward shrug. In truth, he was hopeless when it came to that side of the business, so a second pair of hands wasnât the worst idea. But Maia had always urged him to be kind, and considering the other woman had been kind enough to help him when he needed it, Jake saw this as a perfect opportunity to return the favour. âYeah, yeah Iâm good. I never got the chance to thank you before, so uh, thanks.â
