⸻⸻ k. akaashi
You stand near the desk, eyes focused at the distant right corner. A faint smile crept on your face as you got back to your work.
When you started working at the library, you didn’t expect it to be this thrilling. All Akaashi had to do was come sit in the farthest corner and that would cheered you up.
Akaashi was interested in Classic Literature. Everyday, he would come and sit at the exact same place; lips curled into a smile as his gunmetal eyes followed the words. Even the sunlight complimented his godly features.
Just like yesterday, he was reading the same book, your favorite book. He didn’t know it was your favorite, but you did. And you couldn’t wait to talk to him about it.
“Go, talk to him.” Your head snapped at your friend’s words. “Don’t you dare say otherwise, I know you like him.”
You sighed, unaware of the smile that managed to climb up your face. “I don’t like him. I just think he’s an interesting person to talk to.”
You leaned on the desk, head resting on your palms as you noticed the boy flip through the pages. You friend hit the back of your head, pulling you out of thought.
“You look like a creep.” She snickered, placing a bunch of books in front of you. “Put them on the shelves for me? I have other things to do.”
You would’ve gladly declined the offer, but instead you just nodded, lifting up the books and walking towards the shelves, towards the shelves that were arranged close to where Akaashi was sitting.
You put the books on the near by table, proceeding to arrange them. Akaashi’s eyes travelled in your direction. Did you always work here, or were you new? He thought, closing the book he just finished.
“Excuse me,” You flinched at the sound. Turning around, you eyes met his gunmetal ones. You murmured a small apology, moving aside a bit, letting him pick another book from the shelf.
You noticed him having trouble selecting a book. Akaashi picked one, read the summary, put it back and picked a new one. The cycle continued for a solid minutes before you decided to help him.
“Can I recommend something?” He nodded, answering with a smile. You took a minute before pulling out a book and handing it to him. “I hope you like this.”
You smile as a response to his soft thankyou before arranging the rest of the books and rushing to the desk.
“Did you talk to him?” Your friend asked, smirking at the faint blush on your cheeks.
“A little bit, I recommended him a book.” You sit on the chair next to you as you unlock your phone, checking for any messages.
Your focus was not on the phone but instead on Akaashi, mind thinking if he’d like the book or not. The next moment, you notice a tall masculine figure standing in front of you while your friend helped him with his library card renewal.
“Let’s talk about the book you recommended me next time we meet.” And after saying that, he left, leaving you flustered and smiling like a creep.
You bit your lip, getting back to your phone. Next time, he said. Next time as in tomorrow, and you couldn’t wait for the day to end.
⸻⸻ t. oikawa
Oikawa wasn’t the type to spend hours at the library. He’d rather spend the whole day playing volleyball, but lately he found himself spending his evenings at the library, trying to read as many cliché romantic novels as he could before his graduation.
Today, the setter had to leave early. So he decided to issue some books instead of reading them in the library.
You flinch as the sound of books slamming against the table. “Sorry,” the boy mumbled, before pulling out his library card.
“I’m sorry but you can only issue two books at max.” You tell him, closing the book you were reading seconds ago.
Oikawa sighed, leaning against the table. “Make it three, please?”
You denied, pushing his card towards himself. “I can’t, you can read one of them later.”
“Look, I would’ve read one right now but I have to go somewhere. So let me issue this please.” He requested, or more like whined.
You refused, chuckling at the small pout on his face. The next moment, Oikawa sat on the desk, leaning dangerously close to your face.
“Let me issue it,” His eyes travelled to your name tag. “Y/n-chan.”
You furrowed your brows at the name. Just before you could say anything, you noticed the door open, revealing your friend looking at the two of you with a disgusted face.
“oH my gosh y/n if you’re going to flirt then you have to take this out of the library because I can’t handle it.”
Oikawa chuckled, looking at your friend as she sat beside you. He leaned back, and you were thankful for that.
“Can I issue these three books, please~?” He cooed, looking at your friend.
“No,” She deadpanned. “Two at max, I’m sure y/n already told you that.”
Oikawa let out a dramatic sigh, followed by your laugh. “Told you so.” You tease him, leaning against the chair.
He rolled his eyes at you before picking up the two books he decided to issue. He still looked at the two of you with puppy eyes, half-hopeful, half-sad, hoping that you two would make an exception.
“There,” You said, giving back his library card. “Please return the books on time.”
“Will do.” He mumbled, rolling his eyes. Just before he was about to leave, he noticed the book you were reading before. “You like that?” He asked, grabbing your attention.
You look at the book, and then at the brunette boy. “Yes, I do. Tell you liked it too.” He smiled, noticing how your eyes lit up in a matter of seconds.
“Yes, I did. But you see,” He leaned closer to your ears, lips curled into a smirk. “The girl dies.”
Oikawa leaned back, giving you a sweet smile. “Have a nice day, y/n-chan!” He exclaimed before walking out of the library, laughing at your shocked face.
Feeling : homicidal ; you plan on taking revenge the next time you meet. But in the end, he ruined the book for you—
⸻⸻ h. iwaizumi
You were having a bad day, first because you had to work overtime and secondly, you were bored.
You look at the boy sitting at the table in front of your desk. For the past half an hour, all he did was reading the summaries of some books and sorting them in two stacks.
You employer told you about the boy. The one who came once or twice a week just to read the summaries of the books and borrowing two of them every week.
You continue to look at him. People come and go, some return the books while some issue them, but Iwaizumi was still busy selecting the one’s he should issue for the week.
Half an hour turn into forty minutes, and then an hour, and Iwaizumi was still doing the same thing. For some reason, it annoyed you.
You noticed him as his picked one book. Sitting idle, all you did was guess if he’s choose the book, or drop it.
It was fun and games until he picked up your favorite book. ‘Will definitely issue it.’ You say in your head, voice firm as ever. Your guesses were hardly wrong, as if you read through his mind.
The little smile on your face disappears as he put down the book. You sit up straight. “How can you not read that?!”
You almost shout, gaining some attention. Embarrassment takes over you as you apologize, proceeding to bury your head in you hands.
“What did you say?” You shot your head up at the voice.
You bit you lips. “I mean, that book is good so you should probably give it a shot.” You look down, avoiding eye contact with him.
Well obviously, this wasn’t like you. But something about Iwaizumi dropping that book didn’t feel right. You thought he’d like it, you still think that. You were always able to tell what people would like and what not, and when he responded in affirmation, a smile crept on your face as you notice him reading the book.
And then it hit you: ‘He never reads a book in the library.’ For some reason, seeing him read your favorite book made you happy.
Tired of sitting at one place, you stand up decide to take a walk around the library.
It wasn’t crowded, a couple of people sitting scattered, here and there. You passed by Iwaizumi two times, managing to take a sneak peak at the page he was reading.
Every second, you wished to sit next to him and talk about the story. You want to discuss how the plot could’ve changed, how the twist was unexpected, talking about all the moments you were on the edge while you read that book. You wanted to talk to him.
You look at your phone. 8 : 30 pm. Thirty minutes and it would be your time to go home. But had you work for an hour more.
Iwaizumi was a fast reader, it didn’t take a scientist to tell that. Considering how he only started reading two hours ago, he was already near the end.
His eyes were fixed to the pages, all the time. Face expressing different emotion every time he came across something unexpected. You smile, that’s exactly how it felt when you read the book for the first time.
You notice Iwaizumi close the book. You lips curled into a bright smile. “That was fast.” You mumble, walking up to him. “Did you like it?”
He paused for a moment before nodding as a yes. Another smile managed to climb up your face and you tried your best to hide it.
“Did you get the ending?” Another question. You look at him eagerly for a response.
“Not really,” He answered, looking at the book. It made you sad, but it was expected. You read the book two times to understand it yourself. “But can you explain it to me?”
You eyes travelled up his face, meeting his dark brown ones. You checked the time. 9 : 15 pm.
You hated working overtime, but you wouldn’t mind doing it now.
