speaking as someone with a level of experience being a semi-public figure (albeit on a local scale, so not a huge deal):

some of y’all’s level of parasociality is fucking batshit insane.

public figures have an awareness of the image they are meant to represent, as well as often things like media training. the likelihood of them offering their unfiltered opinions to a fan is slim to none. so when you start taking things like con interactions, ‘behind the scenes’ content, and other curated media as gospel, you are missing the point. there is still a character being created even in supposedly ‘off the clock’ interactions. unless you ACTUALLY know this person in real life, no, you don’t fucking know a celebrity/public figure because you spoke with them for ten minutes or you watch all their content.

in addition, some of y’all don’t understand the concept of fucking boundaries. you’re equating a fictional character or public persona with the actual person, so you think it’s just a-okay to ask absolutely invasive weird shit. fucking STOP.

actors and public figures are people doing a job. respect that and stop being fucking weird.

What's really sad, and Bolaire did touch on it, but the two people who wanted to see the play the most, who had spoken about it numerous times, never got to see it. Wick may still get to see it if Hal is able to put it on again after the opening night, but Bolaire most certainly can't. But I would have loved Bolaire and Wick to have been able to sit next to each other and geek out at watching it.

Sam and Taliesin would have acted the SHIT out of theatre nerds.

Always blows my mind when a show ends and people are like, "oh, I'm going to miss these characters! I'm going to miss this fandom! I'm so sad it's over!"

The characters didn't go anywhere and now you get to enjoy them fully, with the entire context and understanding of their story! A show ending means it's time to get even more unhinged about The Character!

There are still people making art and fics for Kirk and Spock every single day. You don't have to throw your modern Blorbo in the trash the moment their final episode airs, you dork. Get out there and make transformative art about it, or share headcanons, or whatever else you were already having fun doing.

julien, gesturing at occtis (matt explicitly says "i gesture towards occtis"): "tend to your exhausted charge, please"

no one does, and julien looks so... distraught

do we think it kills julien just a little bit that the main thing he can't do for occtis right now is heal him? do we think julien would have healed occtis outside of the tachonis manor when he had his pseudo heart attack if he could have? julien can't get healing through his class features - do we want to bet he picks up a medicine kit proficiency so he can tend to occtis?

god and how much did it hurt occtis that the only person who had his back, who cared about him, truly, in that moment, was julien? no one listened when occtis told them to stop touching him (he didn't use those exact words, sure, but the tone made it clear), no one healed him even though one of the people touching him was a paladin who definitely could have - a paladin who had been in charge of holding onto the thing that, for all they knew, was keeping him alive. a paladin who had been his friend and maybe isn't anymore

julien may not always know the right thing to say to occtis, but he always knows the right thing to do. and never once did occtis complain about julien touching him

the bonding that julien and occtis went through on the mission to rescue mara is so sososo tasty to me

like i think on a broad level and probably how the relationship truly started was occtis reminding julien that he (occtis) is a noble, and julien having the realization that in the absence of aranessa, protecting occtis is the closest julien can get to his baseline of normal. julien only knows how to navigate the world as a vassal and a guard - he can be both of those things to occtis. AND occtis, by virtue of being someone destined for his family's noose (again), will invariably get julien within striking range of every tachonis

and im sure that's what julien keeps telling himself every time he puts himself in danger to keep occtis safe, every time he puts aside his vengeance to comfort occtis, every time he yells at someone else in the group for blaming occtis for something, every time he makes a point to meet occtis' eyes and share a moment of understanding

and occtis, for all his claiming that he doesn't like julien, relies on him and trusts him. he knew that julien was waiting to bring him to safety in that battle, he trusted julien to be his shadow when he went back into the manor even though julien explicitly stated he didn't want to be there, he trusted julien enough that, in the face of his father's rage, he leaned into julien for comfort and followed him away to safety

idk if matt and alex are angling for romance, and i don't even care if it ends up being one. whatever occtis and julien have going on is so compelling all i want is for them to follow it organically to whatever conclusion they feel makes the most sense

but i am enthralled and i hope they keep sitting next to each other at the table and i hope they never stop being in the same group. im so invested in them

forgot who said this first but some people really do forget that this is a roleplay show where each and every character is the main character of their own story. they’re not going to be props for others and they shouldn’t be expected to think of your specific fave character every time they make a decision.

I just can’t get out of my head the fact that julien said if teor dies, it is a soldier’s death, and if thimble dies trying to save him, it’s an example of why the falconer’s rebellion failed

because I think julien is always trying to make the tactical choice. when he’s trying to get occtis to leave, he’s not giving emotional reassurance; he’s telling him the tactical reasons behind why they need to get out when they can. he’s not just being heartless or callous, he’s trying to make the best strategic call. he’ll put himself at risk, but not when it jeopardizes the task at hand.

and why is that? well, as we saw in the flashback, raimond taught him how to do whatever necessary to achieve victory, whether people liked it or not. ‘you will be a booed and living man.’ I think julien has internalized that lesson to an almost damaging degree, and he’s divorced himself enough from any emotion but anger that he can’t really fathom making a choice based solely on feelings. especially not when those feelings put the strategic play in jeopardy.

but at the same time, he so frequently FAILS to make the tactical choice he knows he should. he tries to deny being driven by emotion, because in his mind, that’s why the rebellion failed: acting on emotion, not strategy. but he keeps going back for people. he keeps putting himself in harm’s way when he could run and accomplish his own objectives. he keeps sticking to occtis and the others and he can’t explain why, so he tries to couch it in tactical terms and deny caring.

he’s just such a complex little ball of fucked-up-ness I want to put him in a jar and shake him
