well… 😅
b/c of the teaser for francois' under armour campaign...
under armour puts together a whirlwind, last minute, full court press multi-media ad campaign starring scott for pride after he wins the cup and comes out. they were already planning something featuring him to get released over the summer, but with all the media attention he's getting for that kiss? it's rainbow capitalism time baby and scott is cashing in. kip has a moral objection to it but he stays quiet about it. scott confided in him about how scared he was of losing all his endorsement deals if he ever came out so he is resolved to push those feelings down and be a supportive boyfriend.
he's very successful at pushing those feelings down once the first teaser gifs get released. when the first billboard drops he is so distracted by it he walks into a trash can.
i get why people don't believe in marriage as a social construct but legally it is the best and easiest way to say "this is who i trust to take care of me when i can't take care of myself" and i'm so glad gay people fought for that right bc when shit gets scary at least i know im in good hands
This is how I convinced my conservative grandma that the gays do also need marriage, actually. My grandad died when I was 4 and I asked her to imagine not being allowed to see him or make decisions for him or be entitled to an inheritance and she got very quiet and conceded the point. Marriage doesn't intrinsically mean anything but as a legal framework it is really, really important
Watching Heated Rivalry at a friend’s behest and feeling absolutely nothing but subtle antipathy for the first two episodes and wondering to myself “oh shit wait am I actually homophobic” but then Skip has my whole heart 8 minutes into episode 3 and I realize my actual problem is just that Hollander and Rozanov are fucking idiots.
François Arnaud as Scott Hunter | Heated Rivalry | Season 1 Episode 3
I’m paying to force seven thousand strangers to see a photo of my late husband having fun with his dog. Tumblr Blaze is totally worth it. XD
Thank-you to all of my new Internet stranger friends for being so gracious about having my post shoved onto your dashboards. I loved reading all of your kind tags and comments! Both Martin and Bosco have been gone for several years now but for 24 hours, they felt very present in my life. I greatly appreciate this gift. ❤️
Reblog to have your dashboard be visited by the spirit of joy that death can end but not erase.
Thank you to everyone who commented in their tags or messaged me. Indeed, today is “Martin and Bosco Day”. I originally whimsically blazed this photo on 13 July 2022. I never expected Martin and Bosco to travel so far and make so many new friends. The experience has been such a gift for me.
Aw he’s just looking for love
are you his beautiful wife? you are not his beatiful wife? sad snooting
I don’t understand how Scott and Kip get hate like ???? Shouldn’t y’all be focusing on Dallas Kent? You know the one character that is actually a vile piece of shit? If Scott never kissed Kip on the ice we wouldn’t have Ilya going to the cottage? Also Ilya is friends with Scott, they don’t hate each other. The hate on episode 3 is so questionable, they got one episode and their storyline was needed for the rest of the show. The whole game changers series started with Scott and that’s who introduced Ilya and Shane so like I said really confusing with the hate on these characters. People who say they want to celebrate a gay romance show then openly hate another gay couple like? You can obviously have favourites and that’s fine but Kip and Scott aren’t even bad people, they’re just gay and in love.
I took my little brother (autistic, mostly non verbal) out and he was using his voice keyboard to tell me something, and this little boy (maybe 4 or 5?) heard him and asked me "Is he a robot??" I tried to explain to him that no, he isn't a robot, he just communicates differently, but my darling brother was in the background max volume "I am robot I am robot I am robot I am robot"
My little brother insisted if I was going to post about him, he wanted a cut of the "profits". When I explained to him that Tumblr isn't monetized, and is pretty pointless, he and my older brother pointed out that he'd still be bringing me "fame and notoriety" if the post got "big". So we agreed, if the post hit 10k notes, which seemed extremely farfetched and silly at the time, I'd take my little brother out for sushi (his favorite food) and let him eat as much as he wants.
I guess God wanted the little robot to enjoy some sushi 🍣 🥲
kind of weird how parts of your soul are left in various locations without any warning… like yes i’m always at the top of that hill, sitting at the bus stop, in the cool light of the Japanese restaurant, standing at the pier etc etc
I've read that several people think it makes no sense (not sure how genuine it is, but maybe some don't see it, so I will assume sincerity) to say Skip divorce is homophobic, and I want to address that while I have some energy today because it's not about The Divorce of it all. This post is directed at people who are actually confused about that and is not a moral indictment of anyone. You're not evil for playing in the space, and I'm not a killjoy for not liking it.
I'm either scrolling or blocking and moving on, and you should too. However! Putting all of this in the main tag or not tagging made it impossible to filter, so I'm hoping people use "skip divorce" exclusively for that idea going forward.
With that said, I want you to think about why some feel like the gay character played by the only openly bisexual actor here is disloyal to his partner. (it just feels true)
I want you to think about why some feel a character played by a now 41-year-old man is preying on younger men. (he just seems like the type)
I want you to think about why some frame their interpretation as this character deserves violence and death after openly displaying attraction. (it's funny because it's "gay on gay crime") I'm gonna keep this post focused on homophobia, I digress
All of that is why some queer fans don't feel comfy here! Not every divorce headcanon has all that loaded into it, and some had even more stereotypes than that, but those are the ones I keep coming back to. It's really astounding how many different stereotypes have been crammed into one silly little headcanon, and it's worth remembering all these (and more!) are used in real life to disparage queer people. Also, the Hays Code is still so internalized that some folks will watch a show specifically with a happy ending for queer pairings and think actually it doesn't feel like a complete ending unless one of them dies heartbroken. (This isn't even getting into drinking himself to death with the background of the character *facepalms*)
But if at the end of all of that thinking, you still want to read and write about Skip divorce, then... go do that. (And tag it please, I didn't say I want to read it) There's actually a lot of emotion to explore there for anyone willing to give it all weight and respect!
I'd be happy to discuss with anyone curious and kind about it, but I'm not sure how many people are interested in talking about how our biases can bleed into our fandom interpretations who aren't already aware of that.
I'm going back to writing about Skip now, and I hope this strain of cabin fever is cured when there's more enrichment in the enclosure from casting, filming season 2, and behind the scenes speculation.
🖖
This might be my fave François pic so far lmao. I randomly found it in a comment section. Credits to lofficielhommes.china.
If we get into headcanons, I feel this is how Scott will behave after getting out of the closet and eventually feeling comfy in the new situation. A happy life makes someone feel less afraid to be goofy imo lol. No fear of being rejected for being himself. Kip probably took that photo anyway, with a huge smile on his face.
Embrace your inner child Scott~
