Ian took in her mischievous smile and and gave her one of his own. He listened as she went on explaining. His eyes shooting up everyone and a while but by the end of her explanation he was laughing. “No I’m good actually” He replied with a chuckle. “Someone I’m not fond of made your list so I’ll just let you handle it.” 

Jade was glad he took it as a joke, because more than one person here did believe she was capable of murder. And while she was, it certainly hadn't been something she enjoyed. "Really? Who?" Considering Ian had made a friend of her, of all people, Jade was finding it hard to believe he wasn't fond of someone.

“That has got to be it because I really don’t see how it would be funny.” Ian chuckled. He was completely amused by the conversation even if it was slightly on the silly side. “You make a valid point.” He told her still chuckling. “Well it sounds like a lot but now I’m really curious as to who you want to murder and why.” 

Jade let a mischievous smile take over her features before she set off into an explanation. "Right now, there are around five people at the top of my list, mostly because they annoy me. Isabella, who is generally sweet but she really has no idea what she's talking about; Samantha, who is simply a pain in my ass; Speedy Gonzalez, who has explained to me in detail how she could kill me, so I have to return the favor; Aislinn, who just all around creeps me out; and Aaron, but that's more of a personal vendetta than anything else." Jade took a deep breath. "You want me to murder anyone for you?"

He laughed as she mentioned multitasking. If only she knew the sheer number of things his mind was doing at any given time. It would take an entire notebook just to write down a mere snapshot of them to give someone an idea of the multitude. Though, however chaotic it got, alcohol always made it spill over a little, and prevented him from keeping it all bottled up. Jade would witness it soon enough.

“However temporary things are in the grand scheme of our lives, I’m quite fond of some of my furniture, which is why we’re going to risk the Hall instead. If anything burns, it’s not under the same roof where I lay my head, surrounded by possessions I care about.” Really, he only wanted to preserve his books, the perfectly soft bed that he’d somehow been blessed with, and a few of the items he’d been allowed to keep from home. Anything else was just stuff.

Jade laughed, a genuine sound that erupted from her chest. "Right, right. In that case, let's hope the Hall doesn't have an alarm. I'm always down for destruction of government property." Even if the Hall wasn't one of the places she most frequented, there were few places she hadn't explored when they had moved from the island to the mountain range, so she was somewhat familiar with the path they were taking.

Though she was sure she was going to learn a great number of things about him as soon as their lips touched the bottle, she was somewhat certain she would have a hard time pronouncing his name under the influence. "Do you have a nickname? 'Cause right now I'm partial to Megamind but I'm not sure you'd approve. There's also Braniac, Smarty Pants and the classic Four-Eyes even though I've never seen you with glasses. However, I can take suggestions."

Choosing to ignore the way Jade’s face fell for a moment, he followed her out of the building before taking the lead toward his own townhouse. It wasn’t far. On the way, he thought about the last time he drank and how it had included condescending ranting in the general direction of anyone he came across, various threats to guards, and breaking into the Computer Lab after hours to see if his suspicions about their location were correct. They were.

“I last drank on my birthday. 323 days ago, it was just me and that bottle,” he thought about that number for a second before continuing, “Damn, it has been a while. I guess I just got distracted and forgot to have fun. It happens a lot.” At least on the outside, he had had friends who dragged him away from studying to hang out and be normal, but here it was difficult when surrounded by others who were a bit too trapped in their own thoughts and problems. There was no one who cared enough to force him into some semblance of normalcy.

Jade never had to remind herself that Harold was most likely the smartest person in Lake Grimstone. Most of the time the way he said the thing he said was enough to make her sneer, and the rest of the time the words that came out of his mouth she either didn't understand or was simply astounded. Him knowing how many days had passed since his birthday was probably a product of his intellect and not of an obsession with ageing. Well, at least she thought it was. Still, the situation he had been in 323 days ago was one she could sympathize with. Not many people here even knew when her birthday was, and even less cared. Of course, she hadn't really celebrated her birthday in fourteen years, so it didn't matter much to her.

"You got distracted and forgot to have fun? I would have thought a mind like yours would have learned to multitask." She let out a small laugh. "Well, I am going to make you have fun tonight. One way or another." Jade paused for a moment. She was pretty sure he already knew what he was doing, but maybe it was better to warn him just in case. "Just in case, you should make sure the fire alarm in your house has batteries. I may have accidentally set my curtains on fire. And my couch. And my dresser."

Skinny dipping in the lake?! Oh my god, why didn’t I think of that?! I’ve been practically bored out of my mind since we got here and that should have come to mind!”

Wait. You didn't tell me you were fun.

“I don’t see anything hilarious about that. Yeah but only if they’re going to get something out of it. Besides you said I would be dead.” He said with a light chuckle and shook his head. “All of them.”

"Oh, you'd have to see the mental image I have of you to find it funny. You have a point there, and if you'd be getting something out of it it wouldn't really qualify as a threat, would it?" Jade raised both eyebrows, a small smirk tugging one side of her mouth. "All of them? Because you'd be getting everything from that dream I had when I was eleven to sexual fantasies to plans I have for murdering every single person that's annoyed me since I was sixteen."

While she was gone, Harold awkwardly rummaged through the kitchen and had only a bag of pretzels to show for his efforts. Oh well. They were as good as anything, he supposed. At least Jade was absolutely correct, and the residence was almost identical to his own.

He was standing by the door again when she returned from upstairs, bag of pretzels under his arm and a smile on his face. “I thought you’d never ask. Just a stop at my place to get the bottle hidden from my very nosy roommates, and we can go. I suggest The Hall. There’s never anyone there to interrupt our plans.” It had been a long time he’d gotten properly drunk. Like, well above the legal limit of intoxication drunk. Maybe it’s because his mind got a little too philosophical and tragic when he wasn’t fully in control. He didn’t like what he was capable of imagining when drinking, but he liked the way the little cogs in his brain stopped having to work so hard for a little while.

Jade glanced momentarily at the bag of pretzels, nodded in approval and made her way to the door. She couldn't help but be excited to break away from the monotony of her usual life, which pretty much consisted of pissing people off and setting things on fire. Perhaps she should mention her dead father more often, but almost as soon as that thought entered her mind, it was quickly discarded. Every time she thought of the man, a wave of guilt crashed down over her. His death was a weakness she rarely spoke of.

Clearing her throat, she opened the door and walked out. "So, tell me, when's the last time you drank?" A question she's sure will get her into the mood to drink, at the very least. Hearing about other people's drunken experiences had a tendency to make her loosen up.

"Getting you to wear ducky socks would be hilarious, and some people actually like being covered in slippery substances." Jade sighed, but gave in. "Fine. What kind of weird ideas do you want to hear?"

“I don’t think I am.” He replied with a smile. “That was my number one way to help you. Let me just cross that off the list. What about just talking and getting all your weird ideas out there?” 

"Interesting tactic. Never had that one done on me before." Jade raised a brow. "All my weird ideas? What exactly qualifies an idea as weird? Please, enlighten me."
