Ichigo didn’t believe them for one second, of course. If those two weren’t plotting something random and designed to fuck with Ichigo’s life then it was likely the world was about to finally end once and for all.

Ignoring Grimmjow behind him trying to breathe his way through two busted balls, Ichigo grabbed the shopping bag of booze and threw himself down at the table with a glower. He needed something to wash the taste of arrancar tongue out of his mouth, stat.

“What are we playing tonight, assholes?”

Yoruichi and Urahara looked at each other and smiled.

“It’s funny you should ask, since you’re up next.”

By then Ichigo was used to Grimmjow lifting him up high and tucking him against his chest. It was weird, would probably never not be weird, but in his cat form when everything was massive and a little bit terrifying there was a strange safety there. Grimmjow might hate everything about Kurosaki Ichigo, but he’d protect King with his life. They were like Bonnie and Clyde, salt and pepper, Mario and Luigi– Grimmjow buried his face straight into Ichigo’s furry side and rumbled a happy sound. Pop! Ichigo felt his head tingle weirdly. The world bled bright with colour at the same instant his cheeks heated with alarmed embarrassment. That was weird, cats couldn’t… Grimmjow’s face suddenly filled his vision, aghast and blazing with recognition. That was when the screaming began. –definitely not an excerpt from cat scratch fever chapter four 😹

I feel like this needs to be said since a lot of people seem to need it spelled out for them:

Abusers are multi dimensional people too. That’s what makes their abuse so horrifying.

Abusive people can be kind to other people and have their sweet moments which makes their horrible moments all the more traumatizing to the abused.

Abusive people can for the most part have a clean past and can turn abusive over time.

Endeavor being a good father to Touya then turning around and being a horrible monster to Shoto after tossing Touya to the side makes his abuse MORE horrifying. Hori writing and detailing the slow progression to when he cracked isn’t bad writing. It’s writing a human being and not a caricature.

Final point. Abusive people can change and no, the people they abused do not have to move on just because they did change. And guess what? Natsuo and Touya don’t accept it. Just because Rei, Fuyumi and Shoto do. You don’t have to like Endeavor. And you’re not a bad person if you do like him.

But coming for writers because they don’t write their characters black and white is ridiculous. Endeavor is controversial and he has done horrible things. But from a writing perspective, he is a very well written character and I do not fault Hori for that one bit.
