For the longest time I had NO IDEa what to think about this dude. I thought he was just like, this androgynous asexual shaman-type that just liked to paint and read and sleep. Nothing prepared me for the bombshell that he is an actual ancient GOD.

Okay, but ALSO, that exchange where Vivienne points out that yes, he indeed, actually did set his tunic on fire. I think Solas is legit into this shit. I said this in my Discord group the other day, but I’m gonna say it here:

We talk a lot about Solas being the embodiment of Pride, and he does carry a lot of Pride for a lot of things - mostly the People themselves, and maybe a little bit Elvhenan, even if he felt like things needed to change. But he, himself, was the most humble Evanuris, denying his godhood regularly, and asking people not to worship him.

And with the Inquisition he gets that - people treating him like a regular person for the first time in millennia, which is exactly what he wanted. Do you think in Ancient Elvhenan anyone would have pointed out to Fen’Harel he set his tunic on fire? Or that he has an abysmal fashion sense? Or challenged him about his thoughts on the Qun or what the dwarven people need? Here is a man who thrives on intellectual debate… and when do you think the last time someone debated him was?

Which is why, I think, even a Solas who despises the Inquisitor, who was disappointed in them, still has some doubts about his plan. Because even if the Inquisitor wouldn’t listen to him, he still made friendships. Sera still put lizards in his bedroll (which is Sera’s form of affection); Varric still cared about Cole, even if Solas didn’t agree with what Varric wanted; Dorian still considered Solas’ words about slavery in Tevinter.

It must’ve been hard at times for him or maybe even funny laughing on the inside. Just trying to stay humble and hiding the fact he was an actual ancient Elvhen God with most bashing on him. When, I’m sure, back in the day when he was in his full power he was once feared and reverenced. Was once the rebel force to be reckoned with against the false ones and a savior to the ones he freed from them. Like when Cassandra threatened to have him killed as an apostate if he didn’t produced results with Lavellan and the mark. I’m sure inside he was like !?!?!?! You threatening me !?!?!?! He had to goosfraba it and chill because his dread wolf was about to show and that couldn’t happen, yet. Not without his full power. Not without his orb. Not without the beach closed and Cory dealt with.
