This a bad week for great musicians. Rock in Peace.
While shampoo may be good for your hair, a number of studies suggest that real organic poo works best for obtaining lustrous hair.
By far one of my favorite artists. Alteau is amazing. http://alteaunuttycartoons.blogspot.com
Got a little beat up at a show last night, headbutts and flailing legs, stayed up way too late on a work night. It was a good night.

The Stars In Her Eyes
I stood in the crowd feeling alone in my sadness. They said this was necessary, the key to salvation. I can't believe that that is the case. How can a fire save someone's soul? The man led her out into the square, she looked tired but not defeated. She held her head high, her chin thrust forward in defiance. "Will you confess? This is your final chance." She looked up at him and without hesitation or fear answered "I forgive you." "May the fire cleanse your soul." He replied. With that she was led to stake. They tied her to it, ankles and wrists. I could see her, her eyes closed, she didn't look afraid. I could feel my heartbeat quicken, I didn't know this poor girl. Not by name, not by face. I felt uneasy watching this, I knew that there would forever be a taint on me after this was thru. Before they lit the fires she opened her eyes and looked into the crowd, at all the sullen faces staring at her in fear and anger. She wasn't bothered by them, she had a look of pity in her eyes. As she was looking out at everyone it was as if people were uncomfortable under her gaze, there was a parting of this sea of bodies and our eyes met. I had never seen eyes like hers before, it was like looking into the heavens on a clear night. The stars truly were in her eyes. I stood there transfixed, I couldn't look away but it couldn't watch what was being done. I knew then that there could be no god, this girl wasn't evil. There was no way she was in league with the devil. I stood alone in that crowd the sole bearer of the knowledge that what we were seeing was a tragedy. Before us, tied to a stake and waiting to burn, stood an angel. All these small minded people could think to do with something this amazing was destroy it. She never looked scared. The heat must have been unbearable and she barely seemed to notice. We had formed a bond of some kind, she was staying strong for me and by me. I felt so drained by this angel that I could barely stand, but for her in these last moments I would be strong. I will bear witness to this tragedy, and I alone will know the truth of it. The perfect creature about to die in front of me was the last angel on the face of the earth, being out to death because grace, beauty an intelligence cannot remain unscathed. My faith died with her that day. Faith in a higher power and faith in humanity. I will never forget the stars in her eyes or the horror of watching them go out. She will live on in me, she will always be with me, she will be my guardian angel. She will protect me from myself and all those other simple minded monsters that want to destroy perfection. A greater tragedy will never occur. I saw the heavens, I saw the stars. My eyes were truly opened, filled with sights that cannot be unseen, and they will never close again. I am now fighting for her. An angel died that day an she will never be replaced.
Addiction And Conviction
The drug is violent. It gets inside me and twists around my heart and brain. It does everything it can to crush my soul. The high is quick, it makes the world feel brighter. The comedown is hard; hard, dark and depressing. I know all these things, I hold them as facts. I keep going back, I must be an addict. I hate myself when I do it, and lay awake at night when I don't. I fight with my demons and I fight with my angels. I've taken the drugs too many times, I've been left burned in the gutter. The drugs, they are amazing, I can soar with the eagles, on wings made of light, my soul singing songs of pure delight. My eyes opened wider, truly seeing the world. My brain full if electric fire, ideas unheard of blossoming from nowhere. The other side of that coin, the loss of the high. Every time I use it, I eventually come down, and when I come down my soul forgets those songs. Those songs of delight are replaced with a dirge of despair. My eyes close, trying to hide from the dirt that covers the world. My brain, so full of new thoughts, has gone quiet and still, no ideas to be formed. I'm left an empty husk, a windup toy going thru the motions. The anger I feel when I look for a dealer is largely corrupted by my want to use. I could try to quit, go cold turkey, never use again. The snake it has left coiled around my heart would begin to constrict. I've taken too much for too long to give it up completely. The loss of my drug, the loss of my sanity, the loss of my heart; my world would implode, all of the light, all of the dark, all of the beauty and all of the dirt would come crashing in on me. I've gone to the clinic, looking for help, but there is no help for me. I've done all the research, this addiction cannot be shaken, quitting can be as fatal as using. I know I'm not alone in this, I see the signs in the eyes of so many. I want to tell them to stop, stop before it's too late. I know they won't listen. Society has made us all so susceptible to the drug, Hollywood had glorified it forever. We've all been force fed the lies, had the propaganda shoved down our throats, been raised to believe that using is okay. I will lock myself away, steel my heart, fortify my brain. I will kick the habit, I can break my chains. I've been so close before, I've made the effort so many times. I'm weak, I can't stay away, I see the new dealers, they wait for me. They know if they're patient I'll lose control. The drugs are in my bones, they're in my head. My only hope is that the dealers are selling impure product, that I won't get that taste again. If the drugs are not real I can't get addicted. If I don't get addicted, I'll be safe. I can't get in trouble if I don't have a dealer. I want to be free, I want to be clean and sober. I want to shake my chains, I want to slip my shackle. I want to see the world for what it really is. I want to know what it looks like when my eyes are untainted by the highs and the lows. I want to hear the music of life undistorted, all the flaws and perfect moments all in their places. I want all my moments to be natural and touched, all the experiences and ideas unchanged. My drug is called many things, it has many names. It's taken many forms thru the ages. It's been an ever present blight on the face of the earth since the dawn of time. It's in the history books, smeared across the pages, tainting humanity. It's caused wars, it's caused peace, it's caused destruction, it's caused creation. My drug, my evil life stealing drug, thy name is Love. You've broken me down so many times only to build me up again. You've left me in the gutter with nothing. You've given me kingdoms with riches aplenty. I've lost it all time and again. I've laid awake at night wondering when I'll get high again. I have discovered on my long sleepless nights that absence doesn't make the heart grow fonder, absence makes the heart grow harder. The longer I'm sober the stronger I become. I will become unstoppable, unbreakable, untouchable. I will become the hero to the masses, the poor souls out there blinded by addiction. All I have to do is just say no...
Good Knight
I can see it in your eyes, I can hear it in your breathing. You're scared. You know why we are here, you know who I am, you know what I can do. There you stand, jaw clinched, eyes wide and unblinking, breathing ragged and fast. I am calm, I am centered. I am ready for everything. You cannot surprise me, I am in my domain. Don't misunderstand my calm, the fury and rage build in my head, this is the calm before the storm. My resolve is like steal. My skills are like iron. I will not give an inch to you. You will not get past me. We have both trained for this. We are both warriors at heart. We will both give our lives today. We know we cannot both walk away from this, there will be no happy ending, no glorious return. We came here, on this day, to do what we were born and bred to do. The clash of metal, the heaving of muscles, the righteous fire of battle is here. The skills on show, the armor we wear, the weapons we swing. They create a dangerous and beautiful dance of death. The crashing of bodies, the screams of bloodlust, the landing of blows creating a terrifying and glorious song of battle. Our symphony of pain and deliverance will go on. We will continue to sing until our voices are gone, we will continue to dance long after our bodies falter. There will only be one left standing. I know who that will be. I can see in your eyes that you do too. I know your fear, I've smelled it's like many times before, and I will many times again. I am the master of your destiny. I am the keeper of your fate. I see the thread of your life, I hold it between my fingers, I can cut it whenever I choose. I don't make mistakes. I've sang this song and done this dance too many times for that. I am my own keeper here on the fields of death and destruction. I've lived long and earned my place. You cannot believe victory possible, your eyes betray any bravado you can show. I see red, I feel fire. I am the thunder, I am the lightning. I am as unstoppable as the tide. I will continue to batter the shores of your defenses until I grow tired of this. Then I will show you what it means to be truly mighty. I will show you that within my hands I hold you, pulling your strings as if you were a marionette. You could not know who I wad before, but you will not forget me for the rest of your life now. I will leave here with my head held high, but know this, my heart will not sing of joy. This is not happiness to me, this is my duty, this is my birthright and responsibility. I'm sure you think the same. I know you want to be the victor. I know I will not let that happen. Our battle is great, it will be talked about by all that bore witness. You will not be forgotten. Go now, it's time for you to rest, be with your god now. Go to your heaven with your head held high. You were brave, you were noble. Rest well and find peace, good knight.
Decided to try drawing again, I ended up with a rough and monster-ish self-portrait.
