I know it’s bad for her situation but I adore how there were all these metal rumours abt Sansa killing Joffrey. Suddenly she’s a wizard, shapeshifter, she can fly and she has blood covered direwolves around her??? Y’all say she’s the least northern of the kids but kings landing doesn’t seem to think so.

you know how it will take seven books and eight seasons of dany to go insane and use the dragons to claim the iron throne? give a dragon to cersei and in five pages she's conquered westeros and essos and is well on her way to ulthos. queen shit really
it takes years upon years of irreparable trauma to push dany the brink. catch cersei lannister at 8am on a bad day before her second glass of wine kicks in and she's incinerating everything in sight. god i miss her.

again I will not speak further upon the subject at this time but let it be said that I do firmly believe that Catelyn is THE single most groundbreaking transformative and interesting character in asoiaf
there are a lot of lines in this series that keep me up at night so to speak but one of the most of all time is “Ned always said that the man who passes the sentence should swing the blade, though he never took any joy in the duty. But I would.” I FEEL SICK.
i mean ultimately the fact of the matter is that Ned is narratively doomed from before the story starts and on some level he knows it and his story is sort of this slow wistful gentle march into darkness and Catelyn on the other hand is fighting tooth and nail against her own fate of narrative doom and it keeps battering at her and she keeps fighting back and surprise! the narrative takes us not to death but through it into something worse. anyway!
i don’t actually remember a lot of my reactions to big plot twists or particular scenes on my first asoiaf read but one of the ones I do remember is that during the epilogue of a storm of swords I did in fact scream out loud and throw the book across the room

when i was in high school i used to write my papers thinking wow i’m just bullshitting all of this. then like a week before my senior year ended after all the grades were set, i was talking to my english teacher and told him you know i just bullshitted every paper i wrote. he told me that while i may have thought i was just pulling it all out of my ass, i genuinely knew what i was talking about and made well-supported analyses. i only thought i was bullshitting because it didn’t take much effort and it all seemed obvious to me. if you do well on your essays even though you think you’re just making it up as you go, chances are you’re not pulling it out of your ass. you’re just a genuinely talented analyst, even if the analysis that you’re making comes from a subconscious understanding of the material rather than a conscious effort to study it. give yourself some credit.
