It still doesn't feel real that she said "Yes" yesterday. I'm feeling the love, for sure! #BOOM #engaged (at Mission Point Lighthouse) https://www.instagram.com/p/B-Dh_6ZjV3h/?igshid=10rzwsnd66lk7
Watch: When Mitt Romney makes the same points as John Oliver, you know shit’s gone south.

Too funny!
So today I decided to slow my roll and run further than I have been lately. I learned a few new and old lessons by listening to the feedback my body was giving: That tightness in my calves, way too early in - "Check your footing, watch your form!" That same tightening in my shins, not too much later - "Overcorrection, adjust your gait, watch your Form!" The balance in both of them - "Now you've got it right!" That ache in the shoulders, partway through - "You're leaning forward too far, straighten up and watch your FORM!" That twinge in the side of your abdomin - "Breathing is off, time your inhales and exhales, slow your pace." "Also, you didn't hydrate well enough for the heat today. Bummer for you! Don't forget your recovery drink!" That friction that is starting to really become bothersome - "Wrong clothing choice, not enough body glide. You're over halfway through now. Suck it up!" That overcompetitiveness you've got with your time - "Didn't you used to be able to do this faster? You're getting older dude, accept it!" (NEVER). That little bit of panic that keeps hitting you in waves - "New route, you're in bear country now! 🐻 You'll get used to it. Just wait for the endorphins to kick in!" The awesome feeling you get when you're done - "See?! Worth every second!" Running: the purest form of self-masochism. Time
So I feel the need to share this for some odd reason, but something that has always bothered me is the way that sci-fi genre movies/stories/games/shows depict time.
So here's the deal: time on Earth has been calculated to the year/day/hour/minute/second/etc. based on how long it takes for the Earth to revolve both on it's axis and around the sun. Put a pin in that.
But the problem arises in space on how to calculate time. On Earth it's fine because time continues based on everyone's relative perception of days and nights and seasons and what-have-you's. But in space: in a different solar system, galaxy, palantary arrangement; time is relative to the revolutions around a nearest point of light. Which means that it might be different than Earth, or even of any preconceived recognizable notion of how time works.
So when a character makes a reference to how long it's been in seconds, hours, days, months, years, and so-on; it bothers me because that scale isn't accurate. The only reason it is portrayed that way is that it is recognizable to the viewing audience, not that it is fathomable.
In other words: time is a construct, and it shouldn't always be boxed in to a frame that we can understand. Maybe next time, just let it be what it is: infinite and un-know-able.
A bit of prose...
I recently went looking for something in a box of old things.
Full of memories. Treasures. Mementos. Whatever you want to call them.
Nestled in with the medals, and cards, and stones, and inherited sentimental what-have-you’s, I came across a trove of handwritten notes from a former love.
You see, I keep these things that mean something to me, even if I know there’s a risk of being in pain.
But, for the first time in a very long time, it didn’t hurt me quite so much. A soft smirk fell upon my face as I pondered over a time when I felt appreciated, cared for, even admired.
It hasn’t been a long time, relatively, and occasionally I still feel it; but I’ve endured. Weathering the constant storm of thoughts and emotions that once split my metaphorical heart in half, I glance over the “I love you”s and carefully stow them back away. The strong, stoic, soldier, reflecting back on the whirlwind that scratched my armor and refined my mettle.
Those feelings have tarnished me, but I’m still pushing on. When I will feel something real again, I know not.
I catch these flashes of lightning, quick but subtle, of who I was back then. Although I’m still pushing on, I start to feel lonely and closed off.
Whose fault is that? Should I even be placing blame?
I tossed the box back on a shelf and went back on my search. No tears; no wrenching, twisting, pain. Not sad, but not happy.
Progress. (I guess).
Let’s keep going in that direction.
Whoops
Fell off the face of the earth again.
My fault...
I'm not much for pop music, but have you ever heard a more fluid baseline?
